So, basically I should play through again and again until I get all of the acquisition Achievements, and become utterly soft and complacent, finish one last time and then switch up to Impossible and get UTTERLY OWNED by the necromorphs, and spend my nights crying like a baby.

Yeah, there were a few tedious parts, but it picks right up and the ending is fantastic. I can't wait to see what they do next with the series.

It is definitely one of the greatest rentals ever if you don't plan on replaying it. I kind of collect survival horror games and play them in spurts.

I just finished the game and my opinion is:

. I didn't get the feeling like some games towards the end where I'd rather it just finish - the last three chapters were awesome.

Starting my second run and then on to an impossible run.

As everyone with half a brain realised, reviewers who thought items should carry over to a second play on a new difficulty are completely distinguished mentally-challenged.

Doing a second playthrough on hard with all my stuff is insanely easy. Doing what the reviewers wanted would remove all challenge from the game.

Yeah I love the plasma cutter and whatever the fuck the machine gun is called. Everything else is okay, just not as pwn as the other two.

The flamethrower really is as useless as everyone says. I didn't even try it without upgrading it first, I spent a ton of nodes to upgrade it fully and it still sucks.

I hope those little critters that swarm each count towards the 30 kill achievement because that's all it's good for.

I've been playing with the Plasma Cutter, Force Gun (for the annoying little guys), machine gun thing, and Contact Beam. Seems like an alright combo though sometimes I wish I had the saw instead of the Force Gun but it was kinda shitty even if it was fun to use.

That meteorite minigame is a pain in the ass.

For vacuum bits I tended to walk in, kill some stuff and then walk out again to replenish air. Taking them steady like that I think I only used an air tank once in the whole game.

I did upgrade my suit's air once.

I found the second time on the asteroid gun a lot easier? Second time I got it on my first go, but the first took me a few goes to just survive, and then a lot more goes to get the achievement.

In other news, a second run through the game on hard with a maxed suit really is ridiculously easy. I'm going for the "get grabbed 10 times by a lurker" achievement, and even their long grab attack only knocks one bar off my health.

I'm looking forward to starting on Impossible (once I've finished maxing out my guns for the achievement) because at the moment I'm basically invincible.

I've started this up (rented it), you can tell, right off the bat, that they've nailed the creepy atmosphere. There was a couple of moments just walking around where the music will slowly die out and there's just this ambient humm... argh.

first having to go out into uncompressed/no air blown out area of the ship. That was just sick. The muted noises and seeing outside into space. Then coming back to that area and the muted sounds being used against you when the enemies come out of nowhere...

Wow, this game goes on a little past its "enjoyable" mark, I want it to end. I believe I'm at Chapter 11 right now.

Also, FUCK regenerative monsters. Worst part of the game. I think that's what soured me on it all, I got really annoyed after the final time I had to fight it (I think its the final time, I HOPE its the final time). Monster that needs to be killed a certain way + SPAM caffeine mutants at you. It was so frantic... $:-\$

Also, Plasma Gun + Buzzsaw for the fucking win

finally got around to renting this (It was actually in at the video shop)

Only played the 1st half hour but It seems pretty fucking tight. As someone said before the creepy sci-fi atmosphere is very well done

also had a jam with the RE5 demo.... so far RE5>>> Gears2. Aesthetically at least

There's one more difficulty unlocked which is what the achievement relates to.

Hard is definitely the way to go - I never tried normal but hard provided a good balance.

Yeah, I just started hard on Mirror's Edge using guns since I did my my first normal run with no guns. It seems stupidly easy.

Just wait until you start your second run through Dead Space on hard with all your equipment from the first run. You'll feel totally invincible. I can't believe reviewers complained that equipment doesn't carry over when you start a new game on a harder difficulty. It would have utterly ruined any challenge.

Decided to try this out for PC based on recommendations. Holy awesome. Runs great, plays great. But damn it, I hate when they hide amongst human corpses, or they fall down and play dead after you shoot them!

Ripper and Plasma Cutter are my favorite weapons so far, though that's kinda because the others are a bit lame.

Speaking of which, just how many Power Nodes do you get during the whole game? Are there enough to max out most of your equipment and open doors?

You'll have enough to max your suit, the plasma cutter, and open all the doors. After that you'll have a quite few to spare though - maybe 10 or 20 or something, I can't remember.

the game does have new game+, so you max out everything the second time if you wanted

Yes, all of them, definitely. More often than not, there is a ton of stuff in those rooms that will more than cover the cost of a node if you were to sell all of it. This isn't true for one of the first doors you open (probably the one you're talking about), but you backtrack through that area again in another chapter, the door will still be unlocked and there's new stuff in there.

totally enjoyable experience though held my attention span all day aside from breaks for food
