I take comfort in the fact that this game only did 50k first day in japan.

Please let it have the legs of a dwarf ant.

Hey man, it's not all about playing a game. Its about the experience..

Fuckers.

I'll admit I kept my mind a little bit open, just in case Nintendo made some changes to that shit they showed at E3.  Reading this review, it really doesn't sound like there's any game here.

You got that wrong.

Hardcore gamers are too busy playing all the cool games on 360 and PS3.

Wii owners are convincing themselves they actually like shovelware, and begrudgingly eating up everything their favorite company (who is now ignoring them) make.

tears of "what are you doing to my hobby"

also, read the reviews. This has nothing to do with casual/hardcore...under any other name this game would've been trashed to bits.  Ubisoft's Imagine Musicz with public domain tracks and....the splinter cell soundtrack?...would've gotten reamed.  The common thread in positive and negative reviews is that there's hardly any real gameplay.

I'm not terribly interested in this (I might pick it up at $10 if I had a Wii) but I think you're being a bit hypocritical about "non-games" in general.  The video "game" industry and fandom has always been as much about the movie and toy/gadget aspects of entertainment software as about game-design, and the most popular of what are now ridiculously being called "hardcore games" have usually been a mix of all three.  Fans' other interests support this: a lot of movie/anime geeks, a somewhat smaller contingent who like to play with toys and gadgets (programming languages and libraries, in my case), and a much smaller group with a serious enthusiasm for board and card games etc.  If someone were to develop something along the lines of Wii Music, but aimed at a more musically advanced audience, and with a theme I found appealing, I'd definitely consider buying it.

This is the JC video.

I admit that it seems slightly intriguing.  I have a friend who buys crap like this on the Wii that I can try out, but he's in Japan and I can't take advantage of his daftness.  I think even paying to rent it would be too much...I don't know.

And even so, the nfan brigade is treating the guy in that video like a goddamn prophet or something.

Oh, and by-far the funniest thing to come out of the Wii Music nonsense was that guy who said that the haters are comparable to the creationists.  This was coming from the same group that worships a single man in their life (Miyamoto) while trying to spread the gospel of Wii Music using the teachings of this JC guy.

It's interesting because it actually shows that the software is: a tool that lets you stretch pieces of a midi trap based on motion.

Between people calling it "magic" and people telling you that you don't get it, it is just hard to figure out what the software actually is.

I was at the biggest electronics store in the city the other day.  There were shitloads of copies of Wii Music just sitting there, unsold.  The stickers on the top row set of copies also means they sold very, very few.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith was also featured more prominently than this.   :P

Somehow I get the feeling that that table had all of the total stock of both Wii Music and Guitar Hero Aerosmith.  Well, maybe someone will buy those 2 copies of GH, although I think they still had old GH3 units on that table too, haha.

You're missing the big one though, CLANNAD for Xbox360 was sold out!  Now there's a comparison worth talking about!

Update on this. Its not official. But according to Sarcastic Gamer, which has podcast members who live in Houston, they called all the Gamestops in the Houston area and only 2 copies of Wii Music had sold, the rest just sat there.

Of course, as Doc says, this isnt official. But to me, its funny. With reports of Japan passing on this, maybe moms and pops in the US will do so too.

Over at GAF in reference to Wii Music:

Quote from:  Yes Boss!
It is a pretty hard sell but I'd expect word of mouth to kick in by november. It is a heavy complex game experience with a big education quotient. Just look at how much trouble GAF has with the game.

What does that even mean?  :dizzy
