It froze on me a couple times.

But, you should install Fable II. Made a huge difference for me in the menus.

I would if I had the space. Not sure WHAT'S taking up all that space on my 20GB, but I managed to get to 6GB free and Fable wants just over 7GB, I think.

I /would/ like to get those menus working a little better, that's for sure.

I want to like this game so much.

Are you not liking it?

I'm occasionally annoyed by its bugs, but in general I'm really enjoying it. The joy-killing bugs are the unreadable-disc errors, slow and somewhat lame menus, and context-sensitive UI which frequently fails to, um, understand the fucking context I'm in.

I got this for Christmas and have been having a great time for the last couple of days.  But my money-hoarding ways have meant I've spent almost all that time in Bowerstone moving stock between traders to rack up money.  Still fun though!

Begin a real estate market; before spending too much money locally, start BUYING property instead of items. This feeds into itself until you get the local area completely under your control; pretty soon you will have no need for money. No joke.

BTW, freed my HDD up to 6.1GB, and am now playing Fable without a hitch, without drive noise, and so far no crashes, from the HDD install. This is what love feels like.

I bought all the buildings in Bowerstone so am now walking around with about 1.7M burning a hole in my pocket until I run into the next town.  They better make me the queen of their town or something. :whip

I ended up with so many augments at the stone trader that if I buy all of them, sell the shop, and then sell back to him I end up making something like 150,000.  I remember making a lot of money in some similar way in Fable, but I don't remember it being this easy.

Yeah, I walked into Bloodstone with 2.5M in my pockets, and just started buying from the first building I saw. Kinda anticlimactic, considering that big ponce the shooting Hero is supposed to be running the whole show there. "Cool, yeah, you're in charge. But I OWN everything."  :lol

I'm maxed out Strength and Shooty, but have a long ways to go before maxing out ALL the Will powers.

Still can't seem to get The Duellist achievement. I never see the blue arc. I've seen it once, but wasn't able to replicate the timing.

Finished the main quest last night, and am sitting deep in the bowels of Castle Fairfax. Prolly finish this quest and hang it up. I don't feel like spending another week of wandering around, looking for keys and gargoyles. Fabulous game, bugs and framerate aside. The ending was fine, I don't know what people were bitching about.

Anyone thinking that Lionhead would drop a big, Zelda-esque final boss fight is bound to be disappointed, I suppose, but
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I really liked the way they showed the character at each important decision stage, and how his appearance changed. The time on the farm with Rose was charming, but also well directed. I was supposed to feel safe and happy, but was creeped out the whole time. It may be the best bit of in-game evocative "direction" I've ever seen.

Actually, that and the "Winter Lodge" Demon Door were both really good. Man, Winter Lodge freaked me the fuck out.

Anyway, the ending was what it was -- I'm just unhappy I wasn't afforded a chance to shoot that son of a bitch, Reaver.

Double-up update: I bailed from Castle Fairfax after spending close to an hour over two sessions trying to get the last "Will - Skill - Skill - (move) Skill" timed flick-switch to open a door. Between that, and the Westcliff shooting range, I just can't seem to aim fast enough, and I can't be bothered to finish them.

I'm on to Saints Row 2 for anyone who wants to co-op.

i felt the endgame for fable 2 was perfect for the game it was attempting to be.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the end sequence after you leave w/ reaver is the last action-packed experience (you just aren't told this, which is why the end seems like a shock), but its fun and has some stronger enemies.  then, the montage and everything was great b/c and the farm was probably the most emotional part of the game for me (comparatively, obviously it didn't have me in tears or anything) and then theresa basically reminds you that lionhead has dlc coming and it better not take another year to get here.  and then the choice was perfect because there was a neutral option, and thanks to there actually a game afterwards, the choices do have real impacts (or you feel the lack of some characters, etc.) on your game which is nice. and yes, i chose love, i just didn't totally get the letter that you recieve from rose.

I didn't feel much sympathy for the 1000s that died making the spire, and I did actually like my four families (ahem) in their discrete locations throughout Albion. And you need the dog for treasure hunting if you want to mop that up. For a good part of the game, I assumed that Theresa was a future version of Rose, come back to make things happen correctly, but it turns out she's from the first game. I looked on Wikia to find out about the letter, and it supposes that Rose is also with a character from the first game. Which makes me want to buy the first game and try it out.

The game would be a 9 for me except for the technical issues, for which I subtract half a point.

Even so, I'm not needing the DLC or its Achievements that badly.

see, im one of those people that liked the first game.  it was a zelda w/o the overly complex puzzles (which is arguably a big part of zelda, i know) and instead added in fun combat and a ton of other timewasters and a morality system!  if you enjoy it for what it is, an adventure game, not the best rpg ever created, it is a lot of fun.  The only real criticism i have of fable 2 i guess is that it is not the same setting as fable 1, which takes away this great backstory and the heroes guild and stuff and i actually liked all that stuff.  this game just needs its own little encyclopedia/codex thing.

but yeah, for the rose thing, not even a hint of them being there. though theresa on the other hand....

I did all three endings too, to get the delicious gamerscore, but

I kept playing after the Love ending, and let it save the data with that one. I actually felt sad when I put the game away; I went back to my first family which had two kids, and did a little dance and made a big laugh and gave them presents before leaving the game for the last time. It was more emotion than I've felt leaving any other game...

Yeah, if you don't want to progress, no reason to clear it. OTOH, if you're just going back for a mess of "perfect rounds" to beat the record and bag the axe, the only reasons are a paltry amount of gold and a reasonable amount of XP.

Those who have uncovered every treasure, bludgeoned every bandit and cracked every wisecracking gargoyle in Albion will be pleased to note that Fable 2's Knothole Island add-on (800), initially delayed due to technical issues, is now scheduled to arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday, January 13th. The downloadable detour will add an isle's worth of quests, items and specialty shops for you to uncover and / or fart at.

Lionhead's community blog notes that January 13th will also bring a free title update which fans -- and Oakfield's abbot -- have been eagerly awaiting. You can look forward to new items, clothing and leaderboards being patched in along with the, uh, patch.

I was kind of surprised how little variation there was in the clothing, so it's neat that they're adding more for free. It seemed like there were maybe 10 set outfits which could be mixed and matched on a component level.

I was also surprised that players can't change their own skin and hair color, where it instead darkens for evil or lightens for good. YAY! Aryan supremacy mindset!

Although Molyneux is a brunette, so that means he's evil, right?

I found there was a decent amount of clothing but only 1-2 items had any decent stats on them.

Lionhead's announced that a patch finally fixing a slew of bugs — including the infamous unresponsive abbott in Monk's Quest — has gone live today. And good news! No one will assassinate your child anymore!

Here's the full list of what's fixed:

• The Ritual/Monk’s Quest — Fixed the issue with the Abbott becoming unresponsive if you leave Oakfield before he finishes talking. This will fix the problem if you’ve already hit it, too.

• Rescuing Charlie/Rescue My Baby — after rescuing Charlie, you can now able to interact with objects

• Guild Cave chest — resolves any issues with previously inability to retrieve items unlocked from Limited Collector’s Edition, website or Chicken Kickin’ game. If you’ve already hit this bug you should now get your items.

• The Spire (Pt2) — no more issues with ship captain being unresponsive

• The Hero of Skill (Pirate King) — you’ll no longer get stuck during Hero of Skill quest (Bloodstone)

• T.O.B.Y./Trouble In Bloodstone — you’ll no longer get stuck during T.O.B.Y. quests (Bloodstone)

• Your child — will no longer be chosen as an assassination target

• Furniture Shop in Albion (Bowerstone) will now always have something for sale

• "Additional unspecified fixes" (their words)

Also, Knothole Island has been added to the map in Tales of Albion.

Isn't there a bug which gives it infinite uses? I thought if you traded it to someone else, and they send it back, it gains infinite uses. Or maybe the patch fixed that?

How the FUCK did you clear the last flick-switch? I spent SO MUCH time trying to get the fourth shot in... I got the first three, but could not move then shoot to save my freakin' life. Finally gave up.

Oh god yeah that shit was pissing me off. Start by standing in the sorta middle instead of right in the column where you cast lightening, stand back a bit, and just fire your gun without doing any aiming. That's what worked for me anyway.

Yeah, I did the same thing.  Maybe you could hit all the switches if the process of manually aiming wasn't so slow and cumbersome, but alas.

The reward item for that whole questline was stupid too.  Couldn't they have just given you some potion to max out every single Will spell?  So you can use something different than the you chose to upgrade without having to, like, have five million exp.

It fixed itself when I walked into the area instead of fast travelling. I now have the second version of that quest (freeing the slaves), so I think I've got rid of the problem for good. I shat myself for a while, though.

Yeah, not sure what eventually cleared up my game. In my case, it thought I was still locked on to a person I'd had highlighted, so the context for Y-Button never changed. I left Giles or his distinguished, effete son to continue the quest, and when beset by assassins the Y-Button would only bring up Giles' specific information instead of, say, SHOOT THE ASSASSINS WHO ARE ATTACKING ME. :maf

In the Crucible village, theres a shooting gallery. Get 2nd place, and you get a doll that is unique to your game - it is one of... 4 or 5. You can ONLY get that doll on your game. What you do is trade online for the rest of the dolls:

* Reaver
* Hammer
* Lucien
* Hero (Fable Pub Games)
* the Wisdom hero guy
* Theresa

Most people will just help you out if you ask.

You need to buy the Fairfax mansion for the achievement... just buy it

It happens if you marry more than one person, then go fucking random people. I told the guy to fuck off and sliced his nugget off

I had like three families, including my undead wife and hybrid zombie-child. Never got the blackmail message. Weird.

I just can't get into this game.

I've tried 2 times already. The game is visually rough as hell (360=shit), and it's just not fun. The characters talk a good game, but nothing interesting really happens with the story, and for all the funny sandbox stuff going on, the game isn't appealing.

I don't know how much money MS put on this game, but i hope the next one has a bit more of that "epic juice" going on with the story, and making you feel like you are involved in this crazy ass adventure.

This game is way too freaking soft.

Another bomb from MS.

Er. I wouldn't go that far. Right now the game just feels kinda awkward to me. It's not quite openworld but it's not quite linear. I don't know what to make of it.
