I love the orbs... one of the best ideas for singleplayer multiplayer implemented. I hope more games take advantage of it

Yeah the orbs are really cool. If someone didn't throw all the dolls at me for no reason I imagine the orb system would have made Dollcatcher pretty easy to get anyway.

Wow. I set multiplayer orbs to everyone to see what it was like, and some guy just completely out of nowhere without saying anything gave me all the dolls.

Do you still have them? :o

Yeah. Want em? My GT is F1shBulb. Add me and I'll give them to you. I'll probably play a little tomorrow night.

Do you have the achievements for getting all the keys and gargoyles. I read somewhere that if you join the game of someone who does, and have them sell and rebuy an ability the co-op dude will get the achievements. If you could do that in return I'd be very appreciative.  :-*

Yeah, it's easy to get all the endings achievements. Just return to the dashboard after chosing a card. Good thing the endboss is such a joke. One hit kill URGH

Game was awesome. One of my 2008 favorites. Still a bit too short and too much backtracking.

I just got to the Spire but haven't looked around yet.

Jesus I with they'd provide some goddamn property to buy.  I have $5m and absolutely nothing to spend it on. >:(

I dunno, the game isn't really grabbing me like Fable 1.  And for all the fanfare about the size of the game, it doesn't really seem much bigger than the first at all, and I've been assing about quite a lot.

This game is so awesome. Though I wish my wife would want sex more, I know we have a kid now but shit. He probably wont even notice.

Oh and I'm in the Spire right now. I'm not supposed to feed these people but I fed one. What'll happen to me if I feed them all? I think the EXP loss is bullshit BTW.
If you want a super horny wife marry a whore. You'll get sick of her wanting it constantly and end up shooting her eventually. Least I did.

All that happens for feeding people in the Spire is some exp loss and ya pass out eventually from the drainage.

How the fuck do you have 5 million?

Oh and is there anyway I can become less fat in a short amount or time? I look like a whale in a pink coat.

Buy some celery.  You can get it at the vendor in front of the furniture store in Oakvale, she sells about 3 sticks at a time.  You only need to eat maybe 10-20 sticks to go from super fat to skinny.

I got some money initially by trading.  Then I bought every property in Bowerstone and Oakvale, I don't think that took much more than $1m.  Since then, the rent has just been piling up, and I can't spend it fast enough.  It's pretty unbalanced.

Money is pretty broken, yeah. It's fun at first, trying to scrape by, but all you need is a place to rent, toss some furniture in it, lather, rinse, repeat, and pretty soon you've got more money than you can use, and own every place in the game.

I hear the upscale spouses in the game are really shrill, needy, and annoying. I never married one of those. There was a farmer in Oakdale (normal), a stylist in Bowerstone (Lewd, Randy), and the snap-together undead GF in the cemetary mansion. They all wanted it all the time.

Fuck Peter Monolux right up his ass. I picked the love ending(I actually picked all three but whatever), and I get the letter from Rose. I'm thinking alright so I did bring my sister back to life after all, awesome. But wait,
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the letter tells me she's safe and there's no way to track her down. What the fuck? Is there anything in the DLC that's helpful regarding this? I mean seriously, fucking lack luster. Would it have even mattered if I picked love or sacrifice(I was tempted to pick this hoping Bob would return and hate me)?

Oh and is there any reason to actually play Fable one? Because the whole "But the spire... is mine, begone." really threw me off. Is Theresa known to be evil and that I was duped the whole time?
[close]

Fixed that for you.

Srsly tho', the endings are identical, except for that item. It's a bit of text that apparently ties in to the earlier Fable title, which is available in the first five hits of a google search on the topic. I can't believe you'd let that one detail spoil your enjoyment of the rest of the game.

LOL @"Monolux" - "He is the one light."

Between Fable 2 and Fallout 3, I am enjoying having games where there are consequences for my actions, and even when I do the right thing, not everything comes out rosy. It's easier to believe.

I think the endings and rewards fit with the game. It's very realistic, it fits the world. You arent going to be some world renowned hero who gets everything in the end. Welcome to reality, you get a statue and a wife who's pissed as fuck as to where you were.

Put in a few hours so far. It's okay, but not great.

Good:
-Interaction with NPCs
-World is more open
-The dog
-Leveling is simple and intuitive

Not so good:
-Everything feels floaty
-Combat is really simple, at least so far
-Graphics are bleh
-Bloom lighting overload
-Too much hand-holding

Combat stays simple, sadly. There is a lot of depth in it, if you want it, but you can get by on button mashing -- basically the worst thing you can do to a complex fighting system is make it irrelevant.

That's kind of what I figured. You get some extra stuff in combat as the game goes on, but you can still just mash away.  :-\

Also, it needs a quickly accessible overworld map

As long as the game stays in strict adventure mode, it's really quite awesome. No one does fantasy settings and creatures this well, and it generally feels more authentic than the typical fantasy Americana shit. And I really like the new magic system. It's when the other shit interferes that the game becomes shit. For example, I was stuck with an overhead text talking about redecoration during The Crucible. Apparently, since I jumped straight from my home to some other region, I was still decorating my home while fighting hobbes.  :wtf

It has some personality and plenty of humor. It's got a bit of a Discworld feel to it, as well as the classic dark fairy tale touch of the first game. Not the very serious shit blended with renaissance fair field studies and plastic D&D nerdcore shit that seems to typically tickle the rims of fantasy dweebtards.

I've been fairly unimpressed with it thus far, but after going to the Spire and coming back it's been a little better as you get to see a few consequences for your actions in the first part of the game.

I've been ignoring spouses but last night married Tina the Whore, found a nice house and decorated it.  It's been kind of fun.  I'm female, so no risk of getting annoying kids.

You start to really appreciate Fable 2 after the Spire and after you've completed a few of the bigger sidequests.  Otherwise, no.

Does the environment change more depending on which ending you pick?

I found the changes after I got back from the Spire refreshing, because frankly the game world is disappointingly small so if it changes as you go at least that's something.

Crap. :(

I just found this diagram of the areas in the game - it really is quite tiny.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
[close]

Another of my beefs is that Lionhead need to learn about rewarding people for exploring.  Even when you find a new door and head down into a cave there's just some useless crap like a Children's Health Potion or 1000 gold.  Last night I opened a demon door and for my effort I got a fucking experience potion - I've already bought and used tons of them from the potion shop.

God forbid you should get a great weapon, new clothing or anything else remotely exciting from exploring.

Had they made the game world larger, we'd probably be stuck with some uninspired, engineered and mostly ugly crap like Oblivion. Instead we get these smaller but beautifully crafted locales. It really is remarkable with which great force the these environments shit on anything and everything else.

Agree about the exploration, though. I've stepped far away from the obvious path a few times, and expected something greater than just a noble hat or some gold.

I agree Oblivion is kind of bland unless you really, really, really like trees.  But at least you know what you're getting - a big ass area where you can walk anywhere.

Fable 2 is like they tried to offer occasional big open areas yet they're filled to the brim with annoying little hurdles that you get caught up on and just when you start to get a bit off the beaten path you hit a wall.  It's like the game is stuck half way between open world and small paths.

I think Fable 1 didn't annoy me like this because in between settlements it just did narrow paths, and it did them well.

I'm making it sound like I hate the game - I don't.  It just seems there's some balance issues which then makes parts of the game a waste - it's easy to become a millionaire so why take odd jobs, and everything worth owning is gained through the stores in Bowerstone and treasure chests are filled with crap, so why explore, for example.

It's really wasteful game design or something.

True, and there are some really weird design decisions regarding movement and ability to traverse the environments. In Fairfax gardens, there is a very low ledge separating the dig site from the path. Yet I have to locate the steps in order to get to that area. Being capable of jumping across one ledge while having to find an actual exit path to get past an identical ledge elsewhere is equally weird.

Last night I thought I was onto a good quest where I had to clear our a cave of hobbes and I was finding these cool little diary pieces.  At the end was a glowing chest with... a standard health potion. >:(

But behind a demon door I actually found something useful - some big glass hammer.  That has to be a first.

I've decided to try to make my own fun by marrying every whore in Albion.  I suspect whores just keep turning up though as you kill or marry them.  Maybe then I'll take them all to the sacrificial chamber.
