Today is the last day you can donate money and still affect the election.

I will match EB donations on this up to $250 until 8 PM PST tonight. Details in this post.

Latest polling has No on 8 up by 5, 49-44. But Yes is up by 6 in early voting, 50-44. This means No on 8's survival is entirely dependent on how many people get out there and vote to kill it on Election Day. Obama's up 22 points in California, and Obama supporters oppose 8 by 2-to-1. But it's still way too close for comfort, and on-the-ground advertising over the weekend is going to be critical in killing this hateful proposition.

No on 8 released a new ad today starring Samuel L. Jackson telling people to stop being such bigotted-ass motherfuckers.

Now, I don't know about you, but I have had it with these motherfucking Mormons in my motherfucking state!

They need $1.5 million to get this ad on the air over the weekend. Even better, a lot of Silicon Valley entrepeneurs are doing donation matching through tonight. That means your dollar goes twice as far. But you have to donate NOW.

Eh, I don't know. Regardless of people in Utah wasting their money I don't really want to try and meddle in the affairs of another state like they are... we have the federal government to do that.

If it were my state I'd probably donate, but I'm with Bloodwake.

Maybe after this election they'll be able to institute same sex marriage on the federal level, but I doubt it'll happen soon. It'll have to wait until all the old voting bastards die and our generation takes their place because we won't care. Until then it's one of those political suicide stances like drug policy reform.

It comes down to defending a belief, which most people are decided on already. So Utah spams ads, it isn't going to change minds, if anything it will let people who disagree know that they need to get out and vote.

That's not true; No on 8 was up by 22 points, but the Mormons have closed 17 points of that gap over the past 6 weeks through spamming false smear advertising.

I'm out of state and donated because as gay marriage will start becoming legalized throughout the US (it will happen in our lifetimes), we will all come across these Propositions that will try to stifle it. If Proposition 8 passes, then that will start a precedent that will try to keep the United States back in Norman Rockwell 20th century "small town values" that are fucked up.

When this issue arrives in my state, it would be nice if all Americans took an interest in making sure we modernize as a nation and that includes equal rights for marriage. Iowa already had gay marriage legal for a day or so it might be coming to my state here within the next decade or two.
