hey are we really sure theres no voting booth fraud in some of those electronic booths? it's very strange i heard some people in RL ssay it, but ont the internet, i dont really see any recent articles on it.

exp: i think you are way too optimistic in what obama would accomplish.  i for one do not believe obama will escape from the shit direction of the war and economy.  it will get worse.  and obama will get the shaft simply for not 'changing' their direction.

whenver someone runs on Hope or Change, plenty people will get disappointed.  That's not a hit against obama, thats just realistic.

Cool, I'll post some useful information in this thread.

This is a list of poll closing times around the country.  Will give us an idea of when stuff will be called.  I expect that the first states to be called will be SC for McCain and VT for Obama, both right at 7 pm.

Marc Ambinder over at The Atlantic has a list of counties that will be indicators in PA, NC, NV and CO.  Also in FL, VA, and OH.

You can use the DKos scoreboard to watch results come trickling in.  Or if you don't like clicking on Kos' site, try the CNN Election tracker.  I like the Kos tracker, though, it's easy to use and fuck around with.  Hopefully it gets updated in a timely manner on election day.

For my election night drinking game, I have decided to drink a bottle of Miller High Life (the champagne of beers, natch) for every Senate seat the Dems take from the GOP.  And if/when Obama wins, I'll buy a cheap and shitty bottle of actual bubbly to pop open.  I plan on being tore up from the floor up Wednesday morning.

Also, here are my final predictions:

Obama 54% to McCain 45%.
Obama 386 to McCain 152 in the electoral college.
Obama will carry all of the Kerry states plus Iowa, New Mexico, Virginia, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, Colorado and Nevada.  Plus my super special upset states:  Georgia!, Montana, North Dakota and Nebraska CD-2.  McCain will barely hold him off from getting 400 electoral votes by narrowly winning in Missouri, Arizona and Louisiana.
The Dems will win 36 House seats, including both of the Diaz-Balart brothers seats in south FL, Dave Reichert's seat in WA-08, Michelle Bachman's seat in Minnesota and John Shadegg's seat in AZ-03, which will take three days of careful counting to confirm.
The Dems will win 10 Senate seats:  VA, CO, NM, NH, OR, AK, NC, KY, MN and GA.  This will allow them to get a 60 seat super majority in the Senate and still tell Lieberman to fuck off.
I will call my conservative friends up throughout the night and tell them that I plan on exhuming Ronald Reagan's corpse and pissing on it.

1. He karate-chopped Cobra Commander.

2. He negotiated a truce with MODOK.

3. He will buy you ice cream!

I'm not sure I see McConnell losing either, but it's been a tricky race to poll or predict. I would intuitively think that Musgrove/Wicker would be closer but the amount of shady shit that Haley Barber and co. would do to win that race is not possible to estimate. I still have the Senate at 57-41-2 in the end.

I'll actually agree with all of these picks.

Control of our elections to ACORN. Our national ministry of propaganda to HuffingtonPost, DailyKos and MoveOn (which admittedly would be an improvement over CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/NYT/WP/AP, et al). The IRS to Charlie Rangel. Banking/Finance to Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. Housing to Tony Rezco. The new Global Warming Department to Al Gore. The State Department to Clinton, Inc. Education to NOW. The selection of our judges to the ACLU. Homeland Security to Bill Ayers.

Remember when Triumph was a grumpy leftist gadfly who'd constantly blast the Democratic party as a bunch of ineffectual losers?

Strange times we live in.

The Dems made some great decisions in the past four years after Kerry's defeat, obviously starting with electing Howard Dean chairman of the DNC, then putting ass whoopers like Rahm and Schumer in charge of the DCCC and DSCC, and finally nominating a candidate who wasn't going to have the same old beltway distinguished mentally-challenged fellows run his campaign.  Obama is the big black cock that is going to brutally savage the GOP tomorrow night, but Axelrod and Plouffe are the big swinging balls that run things.  It's no accident that when Dems go outside the beltway for people to run their campaigns (Begala and Carville were from Texas and Louisiana, Ax and Plouffe from Chicago) they win.  Learn this lesson, people!

Some of my friends decided to make a statement and vote for "justice" (I'm not kidding).  I'd imagine that a lot of people on both sides doing throwing away 5% of votes in the "I hate blacks but love liberty" category and making it harder to figure out who really won in case of a 2000 style head-ache.

More disturbingly, they all were pretty for gay rights and marriage a couple months ago until one of their moms joined the prop 8 campaign and literally told them JUST once that prop 8 hurts the families.  They didn't really believe that and they admit that prop 8 is discrimination but they just could not give a shit about what goes on their ballot.

That's my experience with young voters.

Most young people don't give a fuck about anything except beer and pussy.  I wouldn't count on too much of a youth uprising for Obama.  Maybe it will increase a little from 2004 or remain the same as 2004.  I remember all the hype I heard about how the youth vote will radically change politics in 2004.  The increased drive towards early voting will probably help the most but again, there won't be a significant youth uprising.  My other two roommates couldn't give a shit and never bothered to register, for example.

I think the surge of the black voters will be the big game changer from 2004 that aren't accounted much for in polling.  Republitards will make noise about it but fuck them.

Either way, there will be some surprises tomorrow.  A lot of bitter tears to roll down the cheeks of a certain political party.

Marx was never big on redistribution of income, by the way, at least not as a goal in itself.  He was pretty clear on this, here he is in the Critique of the Gotha Program:

Quote from: Karl Marx
Quote from: The Gotha Program
3. "The emancipation of labor demands the promotion of the instruments of labor to the common property of society and the co-operative regulation of the total labor, with a fair distribution of the proceeds of labor.
(...) What is "a fair distribution"?

Do not the bourgeois assert that the present-day distribution is "fair"? And is it not, in fact, the only "fair" distribution on the basis of the present-day mode of production? Are economic relations regulated by legal conceptions, or do not, on the contrary, legal relations arise out of economic ones? Have not also the socialist sectarians the most varied notions about "fair" distribution?

To understand what is implied in this connection by the phrase "fair distribution", we must take the first paragraph and this one together. The latter presupposes a society wherein the instruments of labor are common property and the total labor is co-operatively regulated, and from the first paragraph we learn that "the proceeds of labor belong undiminished with equal right to all members of society."

"To all members of society"? To those who do not work as well? What remains then of the "undiminished" proceeds of labor? Only to those members of society who work? What remains then of the "equal right" of all members of society? (...)

What we have to deal with here is a communist society, not as it has developed on its own foundations, but, on the contrary, just as it emerges from capitalist society; which is thus in every respect, economically, morally, and intellectually, still stamped with the birthmarks of the old society from whose womb it emerges. Accordingly, the individual producer receives back from society -- after the deductions have been made -- exactly what he gives to it. What he has given to it is his individual quantum of labor. For example, the social working day consists of the sum of the individual hours of work; the individual labor time of the individual producer is the part of the social working day contributed by him, his share in it. He receives a certificate from society that he has furnished such-and-such an amount of labor (after deducting his labor for the common funds); and with this certificate, he draws from the social stock of means of consumption as much as the same amount of labor cost. The same amount of labor which he has given to society in one form, he receives back in another.  (...)

Hence, equal right here is still in principle -- bourgeois right, although principle and practice are no longer at loggerheads, while the exchange of equivalents in commodity exchange exists only on the average and not in the individual case. (...)

But one man is superior to another physically, or mentally, and supplies more labor in the same time, or can labor for a longer time; and labor, to serve as a measure, must be defined by its duration or intensity, otherwise it ceases to be a standard of measurement. This equal right is an unequal right for unequal labor. It recognizes no class differences, because everyone is only a worker like everyone else; but it tacitly recognizes unequal individual endowment, and thus productive capacity, as a natural privilege. It is, therefore, a right of inequality, in its content, like every right. Right, by its very nature, can consist only in the application of an equal standard; but unequal individuals (and they would not be different individuals if they were not unequal) are measurable only by an equal standard insofar as they are brought under an equal point of view, are taken from one definite side only -- for instance, in the present case, are regarded only as workers and nothing more is seen in them, everything else being ignored. Further, one worker is married, another is not; one has more children than another, and so on and so forth. Thus, with an equal performance of labor, and hence an equal in the social consumption fund, one will in fact receive more than another, one will be richer than another, and so on. To avoid all these defects, right, instead of being equal, would have to be unequal.

But these defects are inevitable in the first phase of communist society as it is when it has just emerged after prolonged birth pangs from capitalist society. Right can never be higher than the economic structure of society and its cultural development conditioned thereby.

In a higher phase of communist society, after the enslaving subordination of the individual to the division of labor, and therewith also the antithesis between mental and physical labor, has vanished; after labor has become not only a means of life but life's prime want; after the productive forces have also increased with the all-around development of the individual, and all the springs of co-operative wealth flow more abundantly -- only then then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be crossed in its entirety and society inscribe on its banners: From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!

I have dealt more at length with the "undiminished" proceeds of labor, on the one hand, and with "equal right" and "fair distribution", on the other, in order to show what a crime it is to attempt, on the one hand, to force on our Party again, as dogmas, ideas which in a certain period had some meaning but have now become obsolete verbal rubbish, while again perverting, on the other, the realistic outlook, which it cost so much effort to instill into the Party but which has now taken root in it, by means of ideological nonsense about right and other trash so common among the democrats and French socialists.

Quite apart from the analysis so far given, it was in general a mistake to make a fuss about so-called distribution and put the principal stress on it.

Any distribution whatever of the means of consumption is only a consequence of the distribution of the conditions of production themselves. The latter distribution, however, is a feature of the mode of production itself. The capitalist mode of production, for example, rests on the fact that the material conditions of production are in the hands of nonworkers in the form of property in capital and land, while the masses are only owners of the personal condition of production, of labor power. If the elements of production are so distributed, then the present-day distribution of the means of consumption results automatically. If the material conditions of production are the co-operative property of the workers themselves, then there likewise results a distribution of the means of consumption different from the present one. Vulgar socialism (and from it in turn a section of the democrats) has taken over from the bourgeois economists the consideration and treatment of distribution as independent of the mode of production and hence the presentation of socialism as turning principally on distribution. After the real relation has long been made clear, why retrogress again?

tldr: it's about who controls the means of production, not who gets what is produced.  also the "from each ... to each ..." quote is talking about a post-scarcity society.
