I do believe you shall be missing the party. I'm sure of it, when I had mine cut out, I was a non-functional person for the next day. I have no recollection of anything from 10 seconds after the needle going into my arm until I woke up in my own bed with no knowledge of how I got there. Obviously I didn't drive myself back home from the operation.
I also have a vague memory of spitting up blood and having a intense desire to brush my teeth, even though I was told not to. In short, I was a drugged up mess/Amy Winehouse on a normal day.
Even if you do make the party, there's a decent chance you won't do anything but hit the couch and become a conversation piece for the rest of the evening, a conversation piece that just very well might shit himself.
You will be wasted enough to make the operation worth it on its own, don't worry bout it.
