reading through FFC now. it's chapter structure with the characters it follows is strange. it's interesting following Cersei chapters because they are just filled with so much underlying rage and paranoia.

I also found a pretty detailed world map: http://icefire.d20.cz/public/agot/svet-bar.pdf

i can say that that the geographical placements i had in my head were dead wrong

:lol

It's safe to read.

As someone who's only starting on Game of Thrones just now, I still found that article pretty well-accurate for the 100 pp. or so which I've read.

Feast for Crows, near the end:

The speed at which Cersei's plan dissolved was amazing. I love how it was foreshadowed earlier when Littlefinger was shocked at she was ruining herself with her decisions and he had to speed up his plan based on what she was doing.

Yup AFFC is rather controversial among folks. Some say it sucks, others argue it's good but simply not on the level as the other books. Personally I loved it. The second and third books feature a never ending escalation of things, from battles to twists and war, etc. AFFC is basically the aftermath of that shit, as the title implies.

I'm fine with that. He no doubt deserves a break. I just hope the next book doesn't take more than half a decade to write. It actually can't or the HBO show just might catch him.

adwd end spoiler:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
For all his talk of cutting through the "Mereenese Knot," ADWD didn't really resolve it. Most of the characters who set out to meet Dany still haven't reached her, and her situation is probably more complicated now with her back with the Dothraki. Does she kill them all and ride to Mereen, or do they lay down their arms and help her free the city? Either way I expect a lot more "wandering" chapters...

Ygritte cast, finally

Quote
Downton Abbey actress Rose Leslie has landed the key role of a Wildling woman that Jon Snow meets during during his adventures beyond the Wall. Ygritte is described as “strong-willed, witty, skilled in battle and survival in the wilderness. An unconventional beauty, skinny but strong with red hair (which the Wildlings consider ‘kissed by fire’).”

She looks pretty homely on Downton Abbey lol, but I think it's because her hair is tucked in a maid hat. Which is even hotter as I can only think of her cleaning my room then she rips her clothes off and BAM she's hot all of a sudden

The first one was 1:30min
http://winter-is-coming.net/media/videos/season-one/behind-the-scenes/

It came out in September though, so there was less footage to work with. The second was 11min and came out in early December. Considering this is late November I can't help but think it'll be 2-3min at least. Hopefully more considering a lot of the shoot is finished; iirc the only stuff that hasn't been completed are the Wall scenes.

April.

I'm glad this season will significantly upped the hotness ante without casting bad actresses.

Who do those actresses play?

The first is Natalie Dormer who plays Margery Tyrell (Loras' sister). In the book she's like 16 but they've aged her up significantly for the show

The second is Rose Leslie who plays Ygritte, a wildling

The third is Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre, a councilor to Stannis Baratheon

And the fourth is Oona Chaplin, who plays "Jeyne." There's confusion over what her role will be, although signs point to her replacing

Jeyne Westerling from the novels.

Interestingly Carice van Houten was originally approached to play Cersei, but had to decline. But yea, I thought Headey was a nice casting choice but she hasn't worked out well. She had a great emotional scene in the second episode, but after that it was all stink face. Cersei is supposed to be a seductress, and a paranoid, wounded mother. Yet in the show she shows none of that, and is just salty all the time.

I also think the show has dropped the ball in terms of her costumes/hair though. She's always wearing the thickest dresses, like sweaters or something. And I really hate the "southron" hair style shit : /
