So 400k and then out of the top 10?
Don't make yourself look too silly now, dude.
Am I too high or too low? That'd give it the second-best first month sales of any PS3 exclusive, behind MGS4 - you know, the last game that was perfectly marketable, and had the look, production values and game quality to match the hype, plus a built in fanbase.
What were the first month sales of the last game with stunning graphics and tons of critical appeal that ripped off a popular new game's gameplay and released in November? 70k?
MGS is nowhere near as marketable as Killzone 2, though. It had a fanbase, but that also meant that it had a base of people who would hesitate to play
any MGS. It was also nowhere near as striking looking as this, nor was it in as popular of a genre.
The only way that Killzone 2 could be stopped from becoming one of the bigger success stories of this generation would be if Sony completely dropped the ball on marketing, and they would have to actively try to sabotage that in order to fuck it up. If anything, I'd almost bet on that the shitty marketing surrounding other recent games is a direct result of them saving it up for the big one, aka Killzone 2. We'll see, but it's a few cuts above anything else on the system, not least in marketability.
And what's this about some game ripping off another game's gameplay? Which games are you talking about here, and how does Killzone 2 fit into the argument.
The biggest reason why Killzone 2 probably won't sell that well is because Sony can't market anything properly.
They will market this one. They already did it well with Killzone, and that was with a barely functioning product to push. The game damned near markets itself.
