health was incredible. it sounded nothing like the album, but in their recent Giant Robot interview (issue 45, also has King Khan interview) they said because people don't play the album loud enough. then they went on to bitch about people's primary usage of laptops as their stereos and lamented ear buds and ipods. it all makes sense, really.
i was absolutely blown away with their show, but i hear that the show is very similar each time, so if you see it once, you've seen all you have to see and that all the things which look improvised are actually carefully constructed set pieces.
HOWEVER, it's still a great show.
my next concert is actually going to be Dan Deacon recreating his albums all live with people pulled in from damn near every baltimore band.

Dec 11 brooklyn show with 15 person ensemble
Body: Dearest Internet,
On December 11th I'll be doing my first show of my new set with an
ensemble of live performers. I'm both very excited and really nervous.
While most of songs are ones I have been playing live for a while, it
will nonetheless be our "first show.
" The set will mainly be material
off my new album, Bromst, which is coming out March 24th on Carpark
Records.
The ensemble is made up of these musicians:
Percussion:
Eric Beach (So Percussion)
Denny Bowen (Double Dagger, Smarthgrowth)
Jeremy Hyman (Ponytail, Ultimate Reality)
Kevin O'Meara )Videohippos, Ultimate Reality)
Rich O'Meara (ko'mm)
Josh Quillen (So Percussion)
Adam Sliwinski (So Percussion)
Jason Treuting (So Percussion)
Synthesizers, Keyboards and Electronics:
Benny Boeldt (Adventure)
William Cashion (Future Islands)
Dan Deacon (me)
Chester Gwazda (Nuclear Power Pants)
Gerrit Welmers (Future Islands)
Guitar:
Matt Papiach (Ecstatic Sunshine/White Williams)
Ken Seeno (Ponytail)
Its taken a long time to split up all the parts and arrange what was
written for electronics and transcribe it into playable parts for
skilled humans. I'm super pumped for this as I loved skilled humans.
In addition to the ensemble I'll still be doing be doing some songs
solo where its more appropriate. I also designed and built a tent.
Here is the information about the performance:
Thursday December 11th, doors at 7:30pm
also performing are Dirty Projectors, So Percussion
