I just noticed that the guy who voices the Prince has two things present in the three big games he did. Automatic platforming a lead female that he doesn't bang. Ellen from Uncharted? didn't bang. Eleka from PoP? didn't bang. Random chick from Assassin's Creed? didn't bang. I mean, I played a goddamn 'guess what i'm looking at game' with this Princess for 5 minutes and they still didn't bang, and you have him all talking about thick carpets and shit.

But i don't understand why Naughty Dog decided to not make Drake and the what's her name kiss at the end. That was so lame, it was basically a kick in the nuts, reminding you that it's a game, and somehow characters having any sort of physical relationship in games is some out there shit, it's fucking hilarious.

after reading user impressions i thought this game would suck... but it doesn't. it isn't anywhere near as great as sands of time but it is still good.

as for elika saving your ass i think i like it better then say, in tomb raider where if you miss a jump and die the game has to load and start you off not far from where you died.

then again you do lose the tension created by not wanting to fall (which i also like) and start a platforming bit over again... so i dunno how i truly feel about it yet lol

anyways the game is fun. i really like the cinematic feel of the combat.

for all the scrub enemies between areas, you just do B, B to throw them to the edge and you automatically finish them. For bosses you just do X, B, Y, Y, X and it takes off a good chunk of their health

I really like this, it's pretty pimp. I like the adventuring and the talking and fighting and stuff , I kinda feel like buying it. It's funny I've read that it's short but looking at the map it seems far from it.

I love the interaction between the Prince and Elika.

It's sort of the opposite of Assassins Creed. In Assassins Creed, i felt lonely, and it worked really well in the context. Here i always feel accompanied, and i'm always trying to talk with Elika, just pissed her off with the Guess game.

The PS3 version is actually really good and most of the video reviews I've seen (like gametrailers) are using the PS3 game. Ubisoft has come a long way...first FC2 and now this. Controller preference.

IGN has a video comparison up, but I haven't watched it since I already own it on the 360. Initially I had it on PS3 because of sound reasons, but since the install option I don't have that problem (although it's still quite a bit louder than my PS3, just bearable now). I thought it would be one of those games like Ico/SotC where listening to the ambiance and all that would be important, but instead it's wisecracks and more action like music.

I guess this is Ubisoft's attempt to Wii-ize typically "hardcore" (whatever that means) games. So now the games that look cool have no learning curve at all. Can't tell if this is the exact definition of "accessible gameplay" or one way to throw an atom bomb at the problem...so that anyone who can point an analog stick can win.

The "no die" thing would be fine if, for example, the game had Sands of Time style platforming and puzzles. It has nothing like that at all. The platforming itself is extremely easy. You almost don't have to pay attention save for pressing b occasionally.

The "elika saves you" thing is actually a nice way around a technical issue (reloading, though Mirror's Edge doesn't reload after you die anyway). In typical Ubisoft fashion, they have a great technical solution that they don't bother to turn into actual gameplay.

The game is enjoyable but it's like B+ for me...disappointment, I was expecting a game of SoT quality.

The combat is horrible. It looks cool but it's so horrible. The enemy is constantly changing "phase" (meaning you can only attack with a set attack), it's LOADED with QTEs (loaded to the ass with "mash X as fast as humanly possible!!!! style), and it tells you when you need to block and stuff.

1 vs. 1 was a good idea since combat in the old games was never really good anyway, but it's the same deal. Great technical camerawork wasted on what is basically press x press x press x press x press x press x press y press x press x press x MASH X MASH X MASH X press b press x

It's the same boring game repeated 6 times over again, except with collecting. It's like a Bizarro Rare game if they had good art style but even worse gameplay. It has lot's of platforming.

Take it or leave it. You want other kind of games there is other kind of games. Tomb Raider, Mirrors Edge. Sands of time was ways ago. The director decided to do something different with this installment, and it's a technically sound game, everything works, now you might not have fun with it, and that's too bad for you, but stop asking for the game to be something it isn't.

I think it's alright to trash a game that is a broken mess, but this one isn't. I'm having a lot of fun, and i'm sure many other people will too.

And i don't understand the whole "cohesive" bs either, and then the throwbacks to 16 bit gaming? Give me a fucking break.

Why does Ubisoft want to waste our times in their games instead of enjoying them? Instead of platforming, I'm fighting lame enemies and pressing y for 2 minutes straight; in Far Cry 2 I'm just driving to get the chance to drive some more; in Assassin's Creed I'm trying to pickpocket some guy so I have the chance to kill someone eventually.

still, PoP is fun at times, very nice to look at (btw I just looked at my TV and these credits are still going on, and it doesn't help that they are the second set of credits...race between insomniac and ubi for who can have more obnoxious unskippable credits), nice music and things like that. Not worth buying. Questionable rental as well. Probably only get if you have gamefly and want to try it out if there is no demo because once you understand the core gameplay (wooo credits finally ended) the only thing that changes throughout the game are more chances to just press y and watch a boring cutscene. It never gets harder or anythign like that.

How original is it though? It seems like they organized a think tank, threw copies of Okami, SotC, ICO, (and Uncharted lol) on the table, and said "come up with something artsy-looking, but that will appeal to everyone."

I love these uber high standards. You probably buy 3 or 4 games a year i'm sure.

Mirrors Edge is good, but, at least SP wise, it does nothing to sway the notion of existing pussification in games. I've died more times in POP by now than i did in Mirrors Edge.

Hearing 1upyours, hearing these dudes complain about how hard it was to shoot/fight/win, whatever, was just painful. First, you gotta understand the concept of the game, then you play by it's rules, that's the whole point, in Mirrors Edge you shouldn't be fighting/shooting your way out, and the platforming is super super basic.

The only reason the platforming offers any sort of challenge, is due to the point of view, that makes the "big picture" hard to see.

Oh, I know what you mean. But to me ICO was not special because you have someone following you (I mean plenty of games have coop partners), but it was the dependency that was special. That sense of contact you get from leading her around by the hands. In some ways, because she was such an annoying douche, you came to appreciate her oddly. Like...you really physically bonded with her. Elika works much better as a gameplay element because she's not annoying, but the themes of dependency and trust do not get as communicated as effectively. She could do the entire damn quest herself.

I played Spider-Man Web of Shadows two weeks ago, Sonic Unleashed a few days ago, and Castlevania Judgement like a month ago. I enjoyed all of them (except Sonic for the most part) and PoP, so I'd say my standards aren't very high, but PoP is a game where you gain nothing from playing it since unlike a normal game there is nothing to challenge you and no real incentive to continue on unless you love the story and hearing all the quips back and forth. The gameplay actually gets worse as you continue on because of those power plates. If anything it was my moderately high expectations for this game that has me so letdown and actually bewildered as to how they could fuck up this game. People are saying that it's the same as SOTC as in you travel and fight bosses only, but here you fight 4 bosses 6 times each.

Well many times i miss the jump, get caught by corruption, don't dodge shit i'm supposed to. But it's not frustrating, which is awesome.

I generally don't handle death in games particularly well, sure there are games where i don't mind, but overall i don't like dying in games, and seeing a "game over" or a death screen of any sort is almost game braking to me. Just instantly reload the last checkpoint for Christ sakes.

And i hope that you weren't bothered in any way by Prince's voice acting, and dialog, because they sound like Oscar material in comparison to the offensively bad voice acting of Spiderman in Web of Shadows.

I also didn't mind the Nathan drake voice acting. Hell, I even played the guessing game with Eleka at one point. Plus I believed I once described Spider-Man's voice in Web of Shadows as a leper who just deepthroated a 12 inch dildo covered in sandpaper, so I wasn't a fan of that. You're really reaching for reasons to explain why my 100% valid and correct criticism on a game I enjoyed somehow isn't valid.

I think I said I enjoyed the fast paced platforming even if it was automatic, plus that the game is very nice to look at, and that the music is very good, also that I liked the Eleka save mechanic. I got a lot of that out of the earlier on since that's when it was most enjoyable, most of my posts here are later in the game where it's just a grind of collecting orbs and fighting enemies again for the 4th, 5th, and 6th time. They also introduce more power plates and a lot of platforming is removed and instead it's just hitting Y over and over again without any real timing required.
