Weather sucks so I cancelled my plans, it woulda taken way too long to get there and been too much of a pain in the ass to come back.

I'm playing Viva Pinata 2 and not really getting it.

I stay home on New Years, but I always do, so nothing changed.  I really don't see the appeal of going out on New Years.  Maybe one year I'll actually accept an invite.

and I totally forgot that New Years means fireworks.  I think they're testing them outside.

New Years sucks balls anyway. WTF are people celebrating, that we've gone another year without exterminating ourselves and every other species on the planet? Woohoo, let's have a toast to our own mediocrity!

It's rather surprising we still haven't done it during these last sixty years.

I blame the hippies.

Actually, I "blame" the nuclear bomb. I really think that one brought us face to face with our destructive abilities, to the point where no one can in all seriousness deny allegations that we could very well be on the way to kill ourselves off. I think that has shackled some of the toxic blend of ignorance, demand and ingenuity.

Somewhere where I have enough free time to watch a bunch of movies, read books, play DS/PSP, and listen to the radio. I only really have "work" to do once an hour unless something happens (which it never does).

Could have gone to a party with people I don't know well and only see once or twice a year, but I decided to stay over at my parents'. Played some GoW2 with my brother. Don't much like the game, but I'm still glad I stayed here.

Sounds like my data entry/dispatch/clerical/etc. job at Ford on the weekends. I worked nights for the the first few months, so it was like that for forty hours a week.

Japan stays home on NYE, and the first three days of January, by default. I love it.

Also haven't had a drink since the 23rd because the Christmas Party kicked my ass so badly. Kinda enjoying not drinking, to be honest.

I'll be watching Gaki-no-Tsukai Warachau Ikenai 6-hour special tonight, also known as Don't Laugh or You Get Yo' Ass Beat. :hyper May tune over to Sasuke trials occasionally.

Feels like as I get older, no one wants to go out. Last time I went out for NYE was like 4-5 years ago at the nearest fairgrounds which was pretty crazy. I'm pretty proactive about trying to set something up, but yeah, everyone I know is super half-assed about it these years. No one wants to deal with the crowds and the parking and the getting killed by drunk drivers. If I end up staying in I think I'll do what I did last year and at least be logged into an MMO for the midnight stuff just so can celebrate a bit online with others. I hate just sitting on my butt at home alone when the clock turns midnight. Feels so fucking zzzz.

Best New Years I ever did was spontaneously drive up to the mountains, stopping halfway to put chains on the tires, with a gal and rent a cabin at a motel with a vacancy and chill and watch tv and then go out and enjoy the snow at midnight. Since it never snows down here, it was something different and cool. That was like 20 years ago and I still remember it :)

Anti-social so not a big fan of crowds and prefer a good nights sleep for the New Years Day Football games.  Especially with OU in the playoffs this year.  Boomer!  Plus all the meds I take prevent me from touching alcohol.

Possibly. We have a close small group of friends, but recently one guys gf has been giving me dodgy signals in front of bf, and on xmas was the most obvious shes ever been, he even turned round and asked 'wut?' and she replied 'wut' and i sat there in the middle wanting to kill myself pretending i heard nothing. We were supposed to go see stars wars together, i was the one to originally organise, and by chance i asked the group chat why noone had suggested a new time this week.

They all went day-before-yesterday, the bf organised, i never got asked. Hes been offline since, its only 9am right now but normally we'd have plans at least the day before. All ive done is exist. If i get dumped, i will get super stoned, go see fireworks and come straight back home.

Will probably go and get dinner somewhere, but other than that am not doing shit.  My wife will probably be asleep before midnight- she misses that garbage Japanese TV that Chrono is talking about...wonder if it can be streamed somewhere?

Not interested in going anywhere since I'm not big on crowds, it's cold and shitty out, and people here already can't drive, so the amount of crazy-scary drivers ramps up, drunk or not.

Me. kinda.

I have this girl I've been seeing on and off for a while...but although she's nice to be with, she's totally not my type. And she seems like she's properly fallen for me, which is worrying. She invited herself round for new years...and I've basically put her off by saying my work and daughter come first (absolutely true) and that I can't get childcare (kinda true - it'd be a hassle).

I've basically turned down a night of meaningless sex...but eh, I've got a night playing Xenoblade with my daughter (she fucking loves it - we've got to Valak Mountain, beat Mumkhar and she wants to save Fiora now).

that's far better

Yeah, that's totally fine and makes a lot of sense, but I'll just add I think it's worth going out at least once or twice in your life to experience the social side of a NYE. Like go crazy one year and go to Times Square or something.
