2003 was the first year that baseball did any sort of testing; it was to establish a benchmark to see HOW MANY people were using and if stricter tests were needed. The results were supposed to remain anonymous and there was no penalty for a player testing positive that year.

Also, Jose Canseco is vindicated once again.

What's really mind boggling is that we haven't done jack to address our offense, which consistently sunk us last year. Our pitching really held up for the first 2/3 of the season despite the fact that we had so many injuries, but wear and tear ended up causing them to fade late. Well, that and Bobby's distinguished mentally-challenged bullpen management.

But anyway, our outfield hit less than 30 hrs total. OUR ENTIRE OUTFIELD. Guess what position we haven't addressed so far? Outfield. smh.

That's tough. On the one hand, you guys lost Burnett. On the other, we're a team with no clutch hitting other than McCann and Chipper and a rotation with no # 1 and a questionable #2 in Lowe. Both teams will probably both win in the low 80s but I'd say the Jays win more unless absolutely everything goes right for the Braves.

I don't see the Jays winning 80. In addition to losing Burnett, their young pitchers--McGowan and Marcum--are injured and will likely miss most of the season. The line up is anemic. And the Jays have to play in a tough division.

Hahah ... just curious, were you ever a fan as a kid?

I was probably a Football fan first and everything else next. I only think I liked baseball because of the cards and This Week in Baseball.

As I have grown older, baseball has only become more beloved to me. But I completely understand why some people wouldn't like it.

There's Abreu, Dunn and either Xavier Nady or Nick Swisher. We'd have to trade for the latter two with the Yanquis, so I dunno about that. We also really need to sign Will Ohman, our stud lefty reliever to a deal. We lowballed Glavine, but fuck Glavine. Stick one of our young dudes in at number 5, we're not gonna seriously compete this year anyhow.

I don't like Dunn as a Brave as he would remind me of Andruw, with his low hitting average. Abreu would be an improvement. I doubt we trade for Nady or Swisher unless management gets desperate. I agree that we need to develop our younger pitchers and keep Ohman. Glavine really needs to retire IMO.

I was just busting balls, I don't hate baseball per se, just never had a team and never really got into it. Basically I don't like it because it dominates the summer and neither of my preferred sports (football, basketball) are playing. So it throws off my routine of watching ESPN-related channels for 20 hours a day.

We love our college sports in North Carolina and, more specifically, college basketball. The Panthers get pub (way too much, if you ask me), the Bobcats really don't, and the Hurricanes get pub only if they're winning (what's up, Stanley Cup 2006). I guess the same rule would apply to the Bobcats, but they've never won.

This is really the first season I can remember that I truly don't give a shit.

I'm probably moving to Jackson, Mississippi in May. So, I'll get to check out the Braves AA team when I want. There's a couple of guys that excite me there. But, the big club sucks and will continue to suck until they get real ownership in there.

With the Rays I'm looking to see how well guys like Matt Garza and Longoria develop.
