Start Anderson everyday? Yuck.

Where'd that come from?  I'm sure Bobby is dumb enough to try it, but Anderson will fall apart anyhow.

Oops, you're talking about Josh Anderson I think.

talking about anderson josh, but anderson garret sucks alot too  :'(

M's signed Chone Figgins to a 4-year, $36 million dollar contract.

Also, the Jason Bay to Seattle rumors won't die. Truth?

The 10 worst baseball contracts of the past decade.

I was disappointed to see only one Mariner on there.  Bavasi did a lot to earn more spots on that list!

Yeah, the first couple of years Hampton was on the Braves, Florida and Colorado paid most of his salary if I remember correctly.  Florida's contribution ended after a couple of years and Hampton promptly got injured, which means that some insurance policy the Braves had on him paid a good portion of his salary for all those seasons he missed.  Still, fuck Mike Hampton.

Hey, please don't insult the Nationals. We have actually cleaned our house, hired a decent GM and are currently attempting to build our farm system (depleted upon arrival thanks to the Mets' shithead GM).

Probably another year or two, until Strasburg develops into an ace. There have some talented position players, but the Lerners aren't going to spend any money - and rightly so - until they can develop the foundation of a decent pitching staff with homegrown talent. I much prefer to do it this way than to spend like Uncle Pennybags and acquire a bunch of high-priced talent that yields only the potential to maybe get a wild card spot.

I think the MLB is moving closer towards a salary cap anyway. I mean, a sports league where one or two clubs can sign or trade for any player they want, with spare parts like Melky Cabrera, is unsustainable - unless the MLB wants to contract the AL and NL down to four teams.

Well, the thinking now is that they might either be a) packaging melkdud and some prospects together for a bat or b) made the move now because they're about to sign a bat in the non-Bay/Holliday category.  I sure hope so, because I really don't see why you would go ahead and trade Vazquez now for THAT when you could almost surely get a better deal closer to the season.

So apparently the Brave just went and signed Troy Glaus to be our 1b.  I guess if he's healthy he can certainly hit homers, but that's a big if.  Plus he's normally a 3b so our defense is gonna suffer in a big way.

Wait, you gave me grief that the Nationals signed Pudge as a backup and then you post that Braves have signed Troy Glaus - who played a grand total of 14 games last season after arthoscopic surgery - as their starter?

I mean at least Dunn hits like 40 HRs (and that's in a pitcher's ballpark) and he's like five years younger than Glaus.

Oh, Biff Kommieslayer is triumph. Really gotta stop with the name changes dude.

Montero's ranked 5th according to BA. My guess is we'll probably be seeing him sometime this year. Dude's gonna be starting in Scranton.

My guess is if he's raking early on we could probably flip Nick Johnson to a competitor for some prospects by the deadline.. He could spell some rest for Po, and a Po/Montero DH/C tandem wouldn't be the worst thing.

So apparently the Braves only spent/are going to spend (deal isn't final until Glaus passes a physical after the holidays) 2 million on our new hopefully healthy slugging first baseman.  That leaves us 7-9 million to grab a Xavier Nady-esque type as another outfielder.  I hope our pitching is gonna be as good as I think it will, cause I don't see us scoring a shit ton of runs next year with this offense... although having Prado start the year as the regular 2B will be a big help.

Yay, Capps inked a deal with the Nationals (has anyone had to try so hard to woo a "solid" relief pitcher?). With the addition of Capps and Bruney, our bullpen won't be so bad this year. I hear they're also signing Everyday Eddie before his arm completely falls off. If they sign another starter, another arm and a defensive infielder, they could be competitive this year. We might even win 70 games!

McGwire deserves to be in, too.  Unfortunately lots of guys from the roid era are gonna get shafted because the BBWAA is comprised of stuffy old traditionalists who were too busy cheering McGwire and Sosa back in the day to report on what was going on.  And they act like the probably 90% of the players from the 60's and 70's who are in the hall either didn't pop speed pills or that it didn't matter.  Bunch of assclowns.
