What's the advantage of this one over the old one?

The most interesting new feature is the DSi Store which has games and other software that you can download through the DS. The screens are slightly bigger too. Also it has two cameras but they're probably not that useful.

there are, there are also ps1 games, emulators, etc.

you're getting a crappy camera and not much else with this

i'm not knocking the ds, there are a lot of games i'd like to play on it, but this just seems like kind of a rip for the money

I'm still using a Phat DS, so this is a pretty significant upgrade from that. From a lite? maybe not so much, that really depends on how the DS store develops.

The loss of the GBA port sucks but I usually play GBA games on PSP now anyway.

Same here. I would spring for a Lite if they get shitbinned when this launches. I hardly touch my DS though, PSP gets all of my handheld attention

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure in most cases you have to buy a new one.  Acekard had to make the Acekard 2i.

I've been looking to sell my Lite and a few random games I have that I don't play anymore, and I have a Micro, so I think I'm definitely getting this.

I need to buy a new flash cart anyway. My M3 Simply is old as hell and won't even get read by the DS half the time.

What's the compatibility like on this Acekard one? Everything works?

What, game-wise?  I haven't had any problems running ANYTHING.  Thing rocks.  When you load up a game for the first time, it takes like 5 seconds, but after that initial load it's almost instantaneous.

I'll be selling off both my Lite and my Acekard in preparation for the DSi and Acekard 2i.

They play the same games, it's not a separate pillar

DSL is still sold alongside DSi in Japan

They sold GBA alongside DS for like 2-3 years in the West, even released two different hardware revisions

They play the same games so far. But with DSiware and the talk of retail DSi only games, its only a matter of time before production shifts to the DSi ala the game boy color.

I haven't heard anything about DSi retail games. I really doubt NIntendo is going digital distro exclusive with this turd, DS retail space isn't going anywhere.

What would a DSi retail game even entail? Maybe I'll miss out on 2 or 3 camera games, but there are no other hardware differences. I doubt a publisher is going to throw away an 80 million strong userbase for an extra 10 pixels of resolution.

not really

If Nintendo makes full DS games sold on market only for the DSi, I would be shocked.  I'd even be shocked if they release a substantial DSi Ware game that isn't just a Wario Ware toy.

From Nintendo's own press release: "In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail".

Also, the DSi has more RAM and twice the CPU speed.

Hurrr?  The Lite is only 20 bucks cheaper.

Lucky you don't live in Australia...

Quote
Thats right! We have the details on the DSi's Australian launch and just like with the DS Lite, we even get it before America. The Nintendo DSi is coming to Australia on April 2nd and we’ll be getting both the Black and White units. Unfortunately the Blue DSi will remain a US exclusive for now. The added features such as the cameras, new larger LCD screens, music player and DSi Ware will come at a cost with the DSi planned to be $299AU and $375NZ- that’s a $100 premium over the DS Lite price. Nintendo’s press release confirms for us that DSi Ware will be available from launch day.

:rofl AUS$100 more for a camera and slightly bigger screen. Xbox 360 is now cheaper than a DSi

The only thing that could've made me buy this was DSiWare utilizing the upgraded specs and features of the system.  But they're still going with extremely small storage space and no running games off the sd card.  Jesus, whats the point? To play around with pics and distort songs? Does it even support mp3? Probably not.

The DSi has louder speakers and slightly better buttons.  That's about it.  I probably shouldn't have bought one as I pretty much ended up going right back to my Lite for the flash card.

But what's this about a DSi flash card?!   :o :o :o  Where can I get one?
