This accurately describes my experience with Quebec City nightclubs.

Toronto clubs seem to have an acceptable male:female ratio, however.

Dude, that's nonsense. Half the time, the lines are for show. I've gotten into plenty of clubs that were "full" or what have you. Its to generate interest and to keep the riff raff out.

I'll agree with Federwang to an extent. As someone who used to promote djs/shows, sometimes you'd have a line for no good reason and sometimes the place would be packed.

you don't get a lot of that at the parties i go to thank god.

i ended up at a party thrown by misshapes (UGH) because i wasn't told where we were going and we stood out in line for like 15 minutes in january's cold. it was complete bullshit.

then misshapes disbanded and that bar is no longer there

so fuck everyone involved in that fiasco.

lulz, for the stuff that *I* did we never had the artificial line. A couple of times we sold out venues and legitimately had people outside that couldn't get in, or for various reasons we'd be late opening the doors and would have a nice line going. Of course, back then (98-01) for the shows we were doing (drum and bass) we would usually have to have off duty cops frisk people at the doors for drugs. Sigh. Of course we'd just let the dope dealers in the back door...
