The transfer of wealth from productive citizens to the parasitic ne'er-do-wells that make up the base of the Democratic Party continues The Long March started in 1933 with FDR.
This would not be happening but for the treachery of three liberal Republicans; Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, along with the two senators from Maine, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe.
Arlen Specter's vote may have been a matter of life and death. The 79-year-old is a survivor of two bouts with cancer, open-heart surgery and a faulty diagnosis of Lou Gehrig's Disease.
That's why he sold his vote for a $10 billion increase in funding for the National Institutes of Health, bringing its research budget to $39 billion.
Specter voted that way even though he plans to run for reelection in 2010, and Senate Democrats pointedly declared the day before the critical vote that they have made him a top target for defeat in the midterm election.
Specter might be somewhat forgiven for making a choice between physical survival and political survival.
But what the two liberal Republican senators from Maine did is unforgivable. Why did they become turncoats and vote with the Democrats? Why did they send our nation careening toward socialism?
It certainly wasn't to impress their Republican colleagues. In a rare moment of conservative common sense, John McCain took the Senate floor last Monday and said, "This is not a bipartisan agreement. This is three members of the Senate — none on the House side — who have joined Democrats for a partisan agreement. It is unfortunate because we are now committing an act of generational theft."
So why did Collins and Snowe do it? Do they have the same I-want-to-have-sex-with-Obama urges as the The New York Times blogger Judith Warner has confessed?
Maybe not, but you never know about liberals. Obama sends thrills up the leg of MSNBC's Chris Matthews.
What's more likely is that Collins and Snowe sold out for more bailout money for Maine, which, according to a recent U.S. News & World Report, is an economic basket case, and the fourth-worst state in which to start a business.
As U.S. News says, Maine has "the second-highest property taxes in the country, and its personal income and individual capital gains are almost as high."
The Democrat bailout, in addition to the generic pork, will give Maine an estimated $470 million for Medicaid over the next 27 months, $196 million to balance the state budget, $133 million for transportation funding, an extra $116 million in food stamps, $52 million for special education, $44.5 million for non-special education, and $50 million for sewer and water improvements.
That's $929 million to get Collins and Snowe in bed with the Democrats. And that's just how much we know so far.
All of which is not nearly as impressive as the high-speed train from Disneyland to Las Vegas that was engineered by Nevada Democrat Harry Reid, but there will be other opportunities for graft when this initial stimulus fails.

I wrote a book for my mom when I was 5. It's on lined paper and illustrated with colored pencils, and the front and back cover is red construction paper. I bound it with stapes and duck tape. It's about me and my best friend (who is still my best friend!) and my brother spending a day at a local park. No one proofread it for me, but there are no actual mistakes.

I didn't know about commas yet though, so everything is "Nikki and Marisa and Allan did this."

My parents never would have published a book like that for me though. Your aunt and uncle must be very cool. You cousin is a doll, too. Look at his proud face!
