Finished this up today. Quite a good game. The challenge level was pretty high, but then R1 was tough too so I guess they were just keeping in tradition. Still, they gave you enough firepower that it always felt like you had a chance to get through any situation. Sometimes you really depended on the chaingun/auger shields when there was no cover. One time I had an auger shield up and a titan lanched a rocket from right outside it and blew himself up, lol.
Story was ok. Grayson was far more likable than Hale. I didn't like that

in the post-end he's infected, because I would've liked to have him as the lead for R3
I think the auto-aim worked really well and made the controls very playable. The only parts where it sometimes failed was when the spider things are rushing you and it isn't always targetting the nearest one.
The boss fights were ok. I think they gave them a little too much life sometimes like the burrower. The

Mallery boss fight was good
The mech parts were actually really solid. Better than the mech part in the Fear 2 demo. Graphically I really liked the hud when in the mech and in the final mech level with the snow blowing and giant battles it was really impressive. In fact, the final mech level is probably the most epic scale battle I've ever had on a handheld system. It was something I'd expect out of a PS3/X360 game experience.
Oh and the music and voice acting were great. The skill points are cool but I wouldn't replay the game. I wish they had let you see the skill points for the stage you are on while you are on it the first time.
I never played the Syphon Filter PSP games. But since Sony Bend did such a great job here I think I'll give them a shot sometime soon. Especially since I'm used to these controls now.
