I always felt the NES games made people overlook the other facets of the game. Its kind of a literal roleplaying game. The sequels have made a lot of small improvements, for example in the gc one you could only deliver gifts and find balls, the sequels give a wider variety of tasks. Its very much enjoyable if you can give yourself goals and stick to em. I haven't played in awhile. Going to boot it up now.

Dreamcast was pretty cool, controller sucked though. Uhh, peggle, ummm, I only have a Wii so I'll check it out if it pops up on the Wiiware.

analog triggers, easy to grip, face buttons and analog stick weren't great but not any worse than DualShock. Bested only by the s-controller for xbox last generation

I played a butt load of AC for DS until I realized I was accomplishing nothing. Once you realize that the game is entirely pointless it's literally impossible to keep playing it. I don't know how anyone could play multiple AC games.

Dreamcast is pretty sweet. I got one but rarely play it for some reason. I guess I don't know what to play. The controller is a piece of garbage though.

Peggle is the shit. So good.

Did anyone here have a Dreamcast controller with an analog stick that wasn't incredibly loose and spin around? I have 3 controllers for the system, 2 of them new, and they were all garbage. That and the triggers squeaked on every controller. I wouldn't put it past Sega to design their controllers with a flaw.

About all the factors listed here are why Dreamcast failed, plus the PS2 hype train establishing the new rule of gaming. Games don't sell consoles, image sells consoles.

That was probably their biggest problem. The whole 32X, Sega CD, Saturn debacle was nothing short of a disaster for Sega and pretty much killed any momentum left over from the success of the Genesis. The Dreamcast made some good progress in getting them back into the game, but they got buried under the PS2 hype train and massive losses.

Of course its a non-game, the lack of obligations is a laid back concept is what I enjoy.

For me gaming is like watching a movie.
I can watch Star Wars, but you're a nerd if your whole room is full of Star Wars merchandise and you dress like the SW characters "for fun".
And just like with movies, I can't play a game for longer than two hours. With a few exceptions.

Dreamcast was a great arcade system. The controller was crap but it didn't bother me much since I could use a joystick or PS2 adapter for most games.
