I was driving back to my parent's place one day, and to get there I cross this bridge, and once you cross it you start going uphill before coming to a light. Now, where this particular bridge ends is the beginning of the hill, and that section is briefly marked with a dotted line. So, of course, passing is legal here.
Well, on this particular day, I'm just across the bridge, when a car that is just in front of the minivan that is in front of me decides he wants to pass in the left/oncoming traffic lane. Which would be fine, except that his car was older, he was traveling uphill, and there was oncoming traffic.
So, I witnessed a head-on collision two cars in front of me.
All parties were taken away in ambulances. I stuck around to give the officer my account of the event. This felt utterly useless in hindsight. I wouldn't recommend anyone feel obligated to do the same if they find themselves in a similar situation.
