Hopefully this will get New York to pass concealed-carry laws. It's crazy that people can just be slaughtered like sheep and not be allowed to defend themselves.

I don't want to get into a second amendment fight, but I'm sure that NY has a bigger problem with mugging murderers than with hostage murderers.  Although these situations always get more attention.

can non-citizens even get firearms?  even if they could, most non-americans dislike guns because of the high amount of gun crime in the US.

About 80 people were in the restaurant at the time.  During the shooting, Hennard approached Suzanna Gratia Hupp and her parents. Hupp had actually brought a handgun to the Luby's Cafeteria that day, but had left it in her vehicle due to the laws in force at the time, forbidding citizens from carrying firearms. According to her later testimony in favor of Missouri's HB-1720 bill[1] and in general [2][3], after she realized that her firearm was not in her purse, but "a hundred feet away in [her] car", her father charged at Hennard in an attempt to subdue him, only to be gunned down; a short time later, her mother was also shot and killed. (Hupp later expressed regret for abiding by the law in question by leaving her firearm in her car, rather than keeping it on her person[1].)

It's more common for guns to be used for crime than it is for them to be used for vigilantism.  The problem is that this guy was in the last place you would expect somebody to have a firearm.  Either because they couldn't legally get one or most likely because they just don't want one.

Big Scotty, that is the exact attitude that well educated and informed gun owners hate the most. If you are waiting for the chance to shoot someone, give up your gun because there is a lot more to responsible gun ownership than willingness to shoot. People who respect and defend the right to bear arms should also respect life and understand that any taking of life is tragic, even if it is justifiable. It should always be absolutely the last resort.
The story doesn't even mention that the robber had a gun.  I'm guessing that the owner just saved a few hundred dollars that day, not anybody's life.  Maybe you should link some of the other stories?

And Texas is infamous for having murderous road rage passed off as self-defense.  Idiots LOVE guns.  That doesn't mean that all gun owners are idiots but it does mean that we don't live in a perfect world.

Yeah, easy access to guns sure helped those cops in Pittsburgh today who were responding to a domestic disturbance call and got shot down by a gun nut who was afraid that Obama was gonna take his guns.

Oh wow, also looks like the Binghamton gunman was wearing body armor.  The maniac in Pittsburgh had a bulletproof vest and an ak-47- HE shot from his bedroom window at an armored swat vehicle and medics that arrived to help the first officers on the scene, who by the way died there.  But I'm sure if only some guy had had a crappy 9mm or .32 pistol on them all of this could have been averted.  Let's not stop to think that it took these guys having a fucking small arsenal themselves is what caused this, nope.

I myself own two handguns, a rifle and a shotgun, but I don't think I should be allowed to carry them wherever the fuck I want and conceal them.

Why is it that every fucking tragedy has to be seen principally through the lense of idiotic political views?  Can't you fucking idiots just realize that that something horrific happened and dwell on that for a moment.

Agreed. Hopefully all the black men responsible for this will be brought to justice.

Yeah, easy access to guns sure helped those cops in Pittsburgh today who were responding to a domestic disturbance call and got shot down by a gun nut who was afraid that Obama was gonna take his guns.

Okay, I was responding to something like this yesterday, but I thought I read it wrong cause the some of your other statements made it seem like you were being facetious, but just to clarify, are you for or against gun control?

I am for some gun control.  I don't need to have assault weapons, and neither does anyone else.  Waiting periods, competency tests, and safety instruction should all be required to own a gun.  If you're not an impatient, distinguished mentally-challenged klutz then you'll have no problem getting a gun.
