That's a pretty terrible tracklist besides the Black Keys and the Bat for Lashes stuff.

I dunno; The Dead Weather, Metric, Florence + The Machine and Band of Horses are decent, there's a new Vampire Weekend track that might not suck, that UNKLE song features the awesome Black Angels, and Cee-Lo always fuckin' rocks it.  Seems marginally better than the New Moon line-up, I think.

I listened to it.  It's alright --I didn't really think the first one was anything special either, and I like both The Kills and The White Stripes quite a bit.  Jack White does a lot more singing on the new one if that appeals to you at all.

How do you seed? do you cap or just leave it on default? Right now the stuff I'm seeding from the freeleech is only 0.1 kb/s

I don't do anything to it, I just leave it on default.

The current Dead Weather album is better because of White's increased vocal role, but it's still pretty meh regardless, just like the first.

These torrents have been done for 2 hours, and I'm still only getting the unlimited symbol on ETA and zero seeding.

From that pic it looks like you're all set. Because the seeder:leecher ratio on private trackers is generally pretty disproportionate, you're not going to see stuff being uploaded constantly. Just gotta be patient lol.

Fortunately, so long as you seed everything you download it's pretty difficult to get your account closed with the new-ish ratio requirements

The problem is that it takes forever to seed anything. The minimum for each torrent is a ratio of 1.00 right?

The new Reflection Eternal album leaked
http://forums.projectcovo.com/showthread.php?t=2769051

Only a few songs in but the production sounds weak so far. The first RE was great in part due to it being a perfect marriage of great lyricism and hard production.

Naw your required ratio depends on how many of your downloads you are still seeding, not how many you've seeded back to 1.00. There's a more in-depth explanation at the above link, but the basic idea is to seed as many of your downloads as you can for at least 72 hours per week. If you do that then you don't even have any ratio requirement whatsoever until you hit 20gb downloaded, and then the requirement begins to increase marginally from 0.05.

When people say ratio they typically mean your total upload/download ratio listed on the site, and not each individual torrent's ratio listed in uTorrent

The Dead Weather man.

Why are these guys being a part of a shit movie?

I find it pretty bizarre, but I guess it's difficult to resist a phone call from someone who says they want to put your song in a blockbuster film with a rabid following and bolsters the offer with, "we've got these other respectable indie artists lined up too, and you know, we even got Thom Yorke".  I'd put my song in the Marmaduke movie if someone told me Thom Yorke was contributing too.

The new Reflection Eternal album is a new poster boy for why credible "underground" hip hop artists should get the hell away from big record labels and just go independent. Warner Bros delayed the album for months, waiting for an acceptable single. The result is basically an album of failed "for the ladies" songs and weak production. The entire album is bland.

Talib Kweli has never fallen off lyrically, but the subject matter feels tired here and there really aren't any amazing lines to be found here. On the other hand, it sounds like Hi-Tek has fallen off completely. As I said earlier, the first RE album was a wonderful marriage of great lyricism/rhyming and some hard ass beats...

Sure it also was a mixture of neo-soul production, but it was always groovy. Back Again sounds is a good throwback to that sound, but for the most part the album is a a collection of light drums and boring samples with no energy or groove. The rapping isn't much more inspired. J Cole and Jay Electronica shine on the posse track Just Begun, and Talib drops a great verse as well; on the other hand Mos Def drops a pretty weak verse, his only on the album. Speaking of which, can a posse track even be a posse track if the beat is a weak as Just Begun's?

Utter disappointment. After this I'm not sure I want a new Black Star album. And in terms of Warner Bros, this makes me even more wary of what they do with Blu, one of my favorite "new" rappers and their recent signee.

I'm having trouble ranking Queen albums so right now I'm settling with ranking a top 5.

1. Jazz
2. A Night At the Opera
3. Queen II
4. Sheer Heart Attack
5. Innuendo

Queen > The Beatles

Ranking Queen albums is fucking hard.

Ethered. And this is without posting Bohemian Rhapsody + March of the Black Queen + We Will Rock You + We Are the Champions + It's a Kind of Magic + One Vision etc etc etc

Plus, Queen's whole discography is amazing from beginning to end. Can't say the same for the Beatles, who only have like 4-5 good albums out of eleventy billion.

Queen is a band where the whole group collaborated and wrote songs. They had no beef, and have few bad songs, unlike The Beatles. What do the Beatles got in comparison? Queen has Freddie with his charisma/piano/vocals/song writing, Brian May with lead guitar (amazing guitarist)/song writing, Roger Taylor with drums (how many drummers can play drums like that AND sing like that at the same time?)/song writing and John Deacon with bass/song writing. The whole group was talented and offered to the band, and didn't fight over stupid stuff like the beatles.

In the battle of the bands, Queen is clearly the victor.

Question: are love/inspirational/emotional songs just plain dead, mainstream-wise?

Are songs like this even being made anymore? I look at the top 40 and I see nothing that's probably remotely a love/inspirational song.

What happened? Is the hip hopification of r&b a giant share of the blame? I just can't wrap my mind around it; it makes no sense considering how people love inspirational stuff these days as much as they did 20 years ago. I mean, look at Susan Boyle's rise to fame or the popularity of reality shows. Surely these songs touch the common person more than other types of songs?

What's even more curious, if you study of music trends in general, is that we went from a pretty skeptical/cynical music to vapid pop in just a few years time in the 90's. How do you go from Nirvana to Britney Spears? None of it makes sense!

I know, but that's the thing. Shouldn't songs like that be more popular if they are being made? Women for instance eat this stuff up so I refuse to believe it'd be hard for a good love/inspirational song not having the chance in the world to make it on the top 40.

Those vids are more stripped down than the album versions. I like 'em better, but I haven't found out where they're from yet. :\ Her second album is cool too, although it carries more of a kick and feels more like a band than her having a backing band.

Yeah, I was a little bewildered when they shook beach girls and ring ring into kids and rill rill. And it's kinda weird going back to the older versions now, they seem duller, but there is still something missing from the album versions. :\

I totally get how people call them overrated or a gimmick, but it's one hell of a gimmick.  :o

The album version of Infinity Guitars is pretty bad.  It's lost all its bite for most of the song duration seemingly in an attempt to melt your speakers during the last 30 seconds or so.  Probably the worst track on the album, sadly.

For me it just came at the right time. It's been a while since I had anything that was all about raw force and with the festival season coming up I'm super hyped about seeing them live.

But I can totally see how someone don't like it. It's a one trick pony, but a superb trick at that.

What you'll find is that a lot of times, if a trend is pushed too far, and a backlash occurs, the thing to fill it is generally a stylistic opposite of what was popular before... Hence, 80's hair metal excess -> grunge -> boybands, etc.
