The standard of a good album (otw), a godly album (thriller, duh), and then a steady slide further into 'not nearly as good, but still worth paying attention to? Seems like a fairly normal path for an artist to follow, but I imagine you're talking in terms of sales and cultural impact in which case yeah that's not EVER happening again.

Lulz. Actual comparison is dumb, yes, but some of Echoes of Silence sounds like a dark MJ. That's all I'd go as far to say. I've never heard anyone label him as the greatest talent since MJ.

It's difficult to compare other artists to Michael Jackson because the sort of things he accomplished culturally extend far beyond his merit as an artist, and in a completely subjective medium, that's not really something to be overlooked. That goes for some other popular icons as well: Lennon, Dylan, and so on. It's best to not even go there.

Interestingly most "great" artists have far better catalogs than Jackson, and more than one classic/godly album (although obviously many will argue Off The Wall is classic).

Been listening to a bit of mid-80s onward Bowie albums that I've largely neglected. Tonight, in particular, is a lot more fun than I remember; a weaker effort than Let's Dance, but an enjoyable listen aside from Blue Jean and a mangled cover of God Only Knows. Never Let Me Down is not.

I think I've ignored his 90s output up to this point in large part because of the album art.

That, and exposure to I'm Afraid of Americans.

Been listening to Dragonette's 2 albums and Kanye West since I finished Saints Row 3. I think I prefer Dragonette's first album, but enjoying both. That song is a really catchy strong opener for being the first track on their first major album. Dragonette reminds me of Tommy February/Heavenly's jpop, which is probably why I like it.

Yeah I'm not necessarily a big fan of Kompakt (and I live Cologne, the hometown of Kompakt) but this is good.

This is his standout track, that got plays from Djs of all kind of different EDM genres.

I forgot how great this album is. It seems far more sample driven than Dummy, which I admittedly haven't listened to in some time. It's as dusty and gritty as an early Mobb Deep album imo

Listened to the Lana Del Rey album to see if the scathing reviews were just part of a build up/tear down narrative that critics and bloggers seem to love so dearly, but it really is fucking terrible. Like appallingly so.
