I said in the other thread that I had no intention of seeing this movie but I was out with a former co-worker having dinner and we decided on a whim to check it out. There were some okay parts but it was as bad as I thought it would be.

I think the only part that I liked was the opening credits sequence and Liev as Sabretooth was pretty entertaining.

That said, the very first scene is TERRIBLE.

And we get not one, but TWO shots of the titular character shouting, "Nooooooooo!!!" into the sky as the camera pulls away.

edit: I don't know why people keep saying that Reynolds would be the perfect Deadpool, he was horrible in this movie and I have never seen a good movie with him on it, I hope they get someone else if they decide to do a Deadpool movie.

Name one person that can play Deadpool, realistically.

Delivery is key.

Delivery was exactly where Reynolds failed in this movie, he was slow and boring, I know that he can be funny based on his Blade character but he didn't prove it in this movie.

and pretty much any young actor with good timing can play deadpool, if they do it right the most important thing would be the voice not how the actor looks like.

he's built up as this sort of "hipper than thou" affable loser, the likes of which we've seen many many many times before and midway through the film there is an excellent scene where in the character is ripped to absolute shreds socially and the character doesn't really recover for the rest of film and actually goes on to show a degree of growth.

it's couched in all of the gross out comedy cliches and goes on to fulfill many of them, but there is also a kind of awareness and intelligence which places it outside the film it could have been.

He literally types in "DECAPITATE" in a computer to command Deadpool to cut off Wolverine's head.

Gambit creates a whole new subverse in awful character integration. The character really doesn't resemble his comic book form (Eric P smiles!), but instead - is much worse (Eric P frowns). They ditch the cajun accent and sexist remarks for California, stupid douchebag that serves absolutely no purpose is and is horribly annoying.

Lawl.

Some of the effects were embarrassing. The shot of Logan checking out his new adamantium claws for the first time is so awful that the audience was laughing. I don't get it - Fox has been milking this character for four films now and we somehow get effects shots that are worse than those done almost ten years ago?

Also, people laughed at Professor X at the end. It was so creepy and fake - like if they photoshopped Patrick Stewart's face on a stunt double. The creepy, child molestor smile had me rolling as dozens of kids ran into his helicopter.

(Also, why was he walking?)

This just made me hate Gambit more. He goes on this whole spiel that he won't help Logan find "the island" (by the way, the twist on that was so fucking lame) because he never wants to go back - and then attacks Logan before he's about to kill Sabretooth? The guy, whom from all accounts, originally incarcerated Gambit?

He then goes on some revenge rant about never going back, as if he is TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to the film being shot around him (maybe that's how all the actors were on set) and then we get the dumbest fight scene in recent memory.

Somehow wolverine was worse than I was expecting, and I was expecting a huge turd sandwich.

Also, that scene I was in with Gambit (riggins aka Kitsch) above was pretty ridiculous. Most of FNL is just improve and actors going off on tangent anyway, but nobody could understand a word gambit was saying.

It was really good if you took it as seriously as The Punisher movies. It is a very, very bad story but it's a really good action movie. There was hardly any effort put into exposition, the movie is just pure action and it's very enjoyable in that way.

I really didn't like that they stitched up Deadpool's mouth though. He somewhat barely breaks the fourth wall after the credits ended though.

Matrix Reloaded, Bad Boys 2, Shoot Em up, etc, those are "really good action movies", as in if you don't care about the stupid story, you came away happy.

Wolverine was not a good action movie, because the action was shit. How can an action movie be good, if the action is shit? Unless your idea of good action is the kind of shit you could watch on smallville.

The blob fight wasn't an action scene. The good action scenes were the parts in Africa, against Sabertooth in the bar, the helicopter chase, and the whole Deadpool fight at the end. Everything else was totally forgettable.

If you really want to get mad at something, the guy who plays Deadpool is only 18 and married to Scarlett Johansson.
