I really liked Resurrection, not as a movie but as an audiovisual showpiece. That was in my film student/junior compositor days, so hey. And to Jeunet's credit, that scene with the "baby" was genuinely troubling.

I don't think Resurrection is a bad movie. It's got some cool visuals and the green/blue tone to it is neat. But it's definitely weaker than the other films. The story was kinda bad too. The part with the thing getting sucked through the hole in the escape pod is kinda $:-\$

I really liked how all 4 of the main Alien films were done by awesome directors in completely different styles. It's neat having all these takes on the Alien mythos.

Too bad Paul Anderson touched it next

I just thought it was a genuinely powerful moment. It might just be because I'm somewhat deranged, but I totally bought into the whole "baby" thing, and I thought the whole concept of a mother using the trust of the baby to kill the baby was pretty disturbing. The movie failed in plenty other ways, but I also think people are too quick to disregard the genuinely cool scenes (the above mentioned scene may or may not belong in that category). The dude being told that there is something in him and the later chest burst scene, that was hardcore all the way through.

Yeah, all joking aside, It's beyond me how anyone could prefer 4 over 3. Different strokes, I guess.

As Bebpo mentioned, the multiple styles and directions the films took, jumping genres, is the main reason i enjoyed 3 so much at the time. I was expecting an action flick, and got something completely different, which wound up being more interesting.

Yeah, I've never seen the Fincher cut which I hear is even better. I almost never rewatch movies. Because of this, I have no idea why I still occasionally buy them.
