doods... what are some hot tips for Dead Space 2. am i supposed to be this low on health and ammo a lot? On Zealot.

They made me abandon two small healths and the Stasis Pack schematic... was peeved at that.

Ammo is fairly rare on Zealot. Most of the time you won't have more than a few clips of ammo for any weapon either (unless you never use said weapon). Health packs depends on how often you get hit really. Just getting hit once does like 50% damage, so it can take a few heals to recover. Sometimes I was stocked full of health & ammo and had to pass by stuff I came across, other times I was searching for anything I could find.

Missing the stasis schematic isn't really a big deal. I never once bought a stasis item, most of the time I sold them to the store for more credits to buy ammo. There are a few fights where a stasis recharge really helps, but most of the time I never used them.

Random bits of Mirror's Edge and Far Cry 2

Both were 2008 and no game released since captures the same vibe as those games, especially Mirror's Edge.

Playin through Gemini Rue at the moment. If you like retro adventure games you should totally check it out.

I really, really dig the sci-fi noir setting. There is a segment where you have to analyse a photograph that's clearly been inspired by Blade Runner. Also, the designer seems to like Cowboy Bebop a lot - so much so that he's dotted hidden characters from the show in random places. So far I spotted Spike and Ed.

I haven't really been stuck so far, except for a bit where I had to to do some pixel hunting to find an Item, but there is a fair bit of backtracking going on. It has a decent plot, conveyed through the perspective of the two protagonists you play as and its got a nifty 'note system' that I haven't really seen in other point and clicks games.

It's not amazing by any means but it's a really cool throwback game.

Finished it up. Story takes a cool development in the final third that really hooks you till the finale.

Overall really decent. More unique locations and a more liberal use of the music would have been good, though.

The pixel graphics really suits the game's bleak future setting as well.

Catching up on my PC backlog:

Batman: AA- Played it before on 360 but now playing through again on Hard. Looks great!

Amnesia - 2 hrs in. An honestly creepy game for once. Kinda feels like a modern day Shadowgate.

King's Bounty : The Legend -Just got of out tutorial dungeon, but by the looks of things me and this game are going to have a nice long relationship. :heartbeat

Observations 2 hours into FFXIII:

Why didnt they make FFXIII an action rpg? The battle system in place now is horrible. There is no challenge or fun in it at all, just a a a, potion.

Unfortunately the battle system is shit for the first 20 hours of the tutorial. It becomes a lot better once you have all your members, class changing, and other mechanics in place. Until then you're just going through the motions.

oh god not the "20 hours tutorial" shit again, the game will be the same after 20 hours, sure you have all your party members but they all cover the same roles and do the same stuff, imagine if i went around telling people about how FF6 is an horrible game because at first YOU ARE FORCED TO GO WITH 3 DIFFERENT FORCED PARTIES AND YOU CAN'T MIX AND MATCH THE CHARACTER YOU HAVE,OH THE HORROR,THE HORROR

and FF13 battle system is seriously no more boring or easy than what you have in so many called classic like once again FF6 where you just mash attack until everything is dead,if anything it goes blazing fast

but anyway i finished bayonetta,i think i'll try to go for the 1000/1000 so a replay on hard is what on next... the final boss was a little disappointing, you would expect some cool shit like the last 2 boss fight you had and instead you end up playing frogger, jumping on platforms.... also whoever did chapter 14 needs a kick in the nuts, especialy since they had to put an achievement on it... i understand it gives the game a change of pace but i really don't like the genre

for people who are skipping the game because of "horrible driving section" it's only a single level that last like 15 minutes at best, stop being a wussy and go play the game

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Picked it up during a Steam sale, finally installed it today. It's fun, lots of puzzles and only a little bit of shooting so far, which is how it should be. Looks really good, especially with AA cranked up really high.

Dawn of War II: Retribution

Frag gifted this to me over the weekend, so I installed it and started playing. I like it so far [through the first mission], but there's the weird glitch where my display driver will crash every five minutes or so. It comes right back after a second or two, but it's still really annoying. Not sure what I can do about that, game is still playable though.

I think you just need to get the hang of how 3/4 play.  They're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier than Nocturne or most of the other SMT (not counting Raidou games).  If you took down Nocturne's hard boss, you should be very, very fine in P3/4.

If you're at the floor 30 or whatever boss, you need to grind until you have a person with media for group heal.

fired up Super Meat Boy again after a long break, yeah game is awesome. Blew through the entire Hell chapter in like half an hour last night so should be able to at least beat the light world stages. I'd really like to have 200/200 on my gamercard for this game, so we'll see how I go. I know some of the dark world stages get friggn ridiculous, but I don't think this game is above my skill level really.

After using my PSP Go for so long, going back to my 3000 for a UMD game is making my thumb hurt.  But even after I ripped Ys Oath for my PSP Go, I'm playing it on my 3000 cuz the PSP Go d-pad is pretty weak for this type of game.  And I had a whole setup with a full screen scaler and ps3 controller last night, and it was really comfortable to play the game like it was the Wii; I try again tonight and it seems the chinese can't make an AC adapter and the damn prongs broke out.  So I'm stuck playing Oath on my PSP 3000 now until tomorrow when I'll probably go get an AMERICAN MADE (built in China) replacement.  Just let me play PSP games on my PS3 already.

Anyway, Ys Oath on PSP is amazing.  I feel like I should just buy the PC version after this for other playthroughs.

The problem is the enemies that hit you with one of those instant death attacks, this afternoon I had just one floor left to reach the next checkpoint, all my characters and my equipped persona had gone up a couple of levels, killed a treasure hand and was gonna get an awesome weapon from Elizabeth and found some cool weapons from the chests and then one of those giant scarabs hit me with one of those attacks and it was all over.

I still had two hours before work but turned off the game anyway :fbm

I started playing Saya no Uta because of the gaf thread (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=423099).  I guess I'm about halfway through going by the CG gallery.  It's alright.  It's an enjoyable horror tale, but so far it's been a fairly predictable short story and is not really living up to some of the praise in that thread.  It's not particularly scary or that gory.  The music is great though and it's entertaining enough.  I'm hoping it has some good twists in the end, because otherwise I don't think it compares to stuff like Higurashi which has great mysteries and is not predictable at all.

Oh, I thought you said it was a instant death attack.  I thought there were blocks for that pretty early on.  Hmmm...

The only time I've been one-shotted in megaten has been early on in Nocturne.  Maybe I've just been lucky.

I started playing Dissidia 012 today and played like 6 hours straight, lol.

The story mode in this one is really cool.  The world map is neat, the dungeons are much better, the assist characters add a lot of depth, and the new characters rock.  Plus the game has the entire Dissidia 1 and Dissidia 2 osts, so 100+ songs, and 4-8 songs per FF title.  Lots of good music to fight to.  The story and cutscenes seem better this time around too.  Plus lots of costumes for everyone.  3 on the disc and then 4th is dlc.

Story mode AI is pretty fair so far, arcade mode is really bs though.  Already raging.  So will stick to story mode until I get MAD LOOT to take on arcade mode.

Boredom? Nah. Rage? Very yes (on NSIC). Hard and Normal I usually don't need to reset. Witch time is easy modo.

Anyway, gonna finish my first playthrough of 999 tonight hopefully. Game's good so far, but I hope when you replay it for the alternate endings you can zip past all of the text VERY quickly. If not, that will probably kill my motivation to 100% it.

Yeah, and his punches are out-of-control powerful.

i got myself super street fighter 4 (even if i can't play it online) just out of curiosity since the internet wouldn't stop talking about it (i guess the fact that capcom seems to release a new version of the game every 3 month is also to blame) aaaaand i don't really feel it,i don't know it feels like everything goes too fast and what you do just doesn't flow naturaly, maybe i just suck at the game (i blame the horrible 360 D-Pad) i certainly had more fun playing as ryu than i had with sakura

there is an iphone version right? how the heck people play it without shattering their touch screen in thousand tiny little pieces? ???

King's Bounty: The Legend is freaking addicting. It's been good while since I've last had an RPG that's quickly sapped the hours away from my life without me reailizing it. Just got myself a zombie wife who greatly helps increase my defense and attack. I can even change her back to human form, have her bear me a child, then change her back to a zombie on whim.

i had no trouble playing blazblue on my psp...... maybe more than saying that the game is fast,it would be more correct to say that i can't seems to make any decent combo strings because i just can't get into the flow of the game and i have to rely more on the dumb CPU (i had a fight that basicaly consisted of me throwing many many many hadoukens) than actual playing the game which is not fun, even if i try mission mode when i do nail a sequence it seems to be more because i mashed those button really fast than anything else, heck i tried doing that "heavy jumping kick -> heavy standing punch -> shoryuken -> shinku hadouken" and sometimes the shinku hadouken would come soon after the shoryuken and sometimes not even tough to me it felt like i was doing the same motions ???

basicaly i play like flowchart ken because comboing seems impossible and it feels incredibly wrong

You have to consider that the fastest game Magus played before getting a 360 was some loli RPG.  :uguu

ps3 is getting the loli rpg next week and i won't be able to play it,truly a sad state of affair :(

Magus would probably like BlazBlue more than any other fighter. Good story mode, especially in Continuum Shift. And also it plays well.

SSF4 > BBCS > MvC3

the fierce shoryuken with Ken can only be canceled on the first two hits (it hits three times). So you need to do the super in that time frame, otherwise you won't get anything.
