I don't want cutscenes for 30 minutes, I want to talk to npcs and actually feel like I'm interacting with a foreign, fictional world. FF13 doesn't offer me this. For me, that is the bread and butter of rpg story telling and not cutscenes, because it gives you something to want to save over the course of 50+ hours. A story based rpg without well established world building is boring.

Also, FF13 does the same thing. The first thing you witness is SANCTUM committing acts of genocide and they're very obviously the bad guys, except they have zero development. ???

Cleared Futari 1.5 Maniac with Palm. Wasn't trying too hard for score, so I only got 350m or so. God I hate how much Palm rapes bosses. I spend 99% of my time playing as Reco, so I've get some serious laser-envy right now. :(

1 character down, 1 to go. Not sure how long it's going to take me to get the clear with Reco... I've fought Larsa several times with her, but I need at least two extra lives to defeat her. Preferably three, but that means I have to beat every stage and boss with only two deaths...

The 360 version of Cross Edge never came out in the west fyi.

As for your next game, I say Ninja Gaiden 2.

Finally gave my new 360 a whirl:

1. 360 Slim is probably the coolest looking console I've ever had. It just looks so badass.
2. Better package than previous 360 -- wifi!
3. Looks wonders with my ps3 and white (both black -- black power!)

Games:

Super Meat Boy - Amazing. Got A+ on all the levels in world 1 in one sitting.
Outland - Really fun!
Splosion Man - Awesome.
Portal 2 - :rock :rock :rock
Saints Row 2 - :bow

I'm gonna go with Portal 2 and Super Meat Boy for now.

I did. There's nothing in DS2 that's directly related to Extraction, but it helps the Severed DLC make a bit more sense. Plus, Extraction was a lot of fun.

I heard you have to play Extraction in like 1 hour segments.  That it only saves between levels/chapters and each is 30-60mins long.  How long is the game?  I want to start DS2 sometime soon and don't want to spend weeks on Extraction before I can get to DS2.

Fuuuuuuuuuck yes. 1cc'd 1.5 Maniac with Reco, FINALLY. I was playing mainly for survival, so I only had 374m with my clear. Lame, but I don't care. Now that I've got the clear and the achievement out of the way, I can focus entirely on scoring. And even though I was only trying to survive, that's still one of the hardest achievements I've got.

Not sure what to go for next... I think I can get the achievement for 1cc'ing Ultra mode since it has lenient conditions (you can restart stages as much as you want, and you can set extends to every 80m), but that's going to take a ton of practice. I think I'll go for it though, since I'd REALLY like to 1000/1000 this game.

Ended up starting RDR Undead Nightmare instead of DS Extraction.  Dunno what to think so far.  The cutscenes have been great and it's nice to see more of the best-game-lead-ever John Marston, but the gameplay of killing zombies is really mehtastic so far compared to the action scenes in RDR.  Punching zombie mass runners with a torch while they hardly react is laaaaame.

The first 2 are only a buck, and the third is only 3 bucks... they are oldskool, 8-bit looking games... but have the strange enemies and design of some of the more out-there Japanese games...

Yeah, that's where everything starts going downhill fast. I liked the first world, but then you go to that planet and Lymle's planet and it just gets worse and worse and worse.

Basically, every single thing about the game is awful aside from the combat engine, which is actually pretty decent. And I absolutely HATE the bonus board, since you have to play for hours at a time to get the most use out of it (because you have to refill it every time you load your game).

Oh. Well, the battle system is decent, but it has no depth and it just winds up being a repetitive button masher. The story is completely distinguished mentally-challenged, some of the dungeons are REALLY awful mazes where you have to go back and forth over and over and over and over, and the game has about 20 enemies total. Its only redeeming quality is its nice graphics.
