8 hours in my second playtrough of tales of vesperia and i'm almost done with the 2nd bit of the game.... i can almost taste the 1000!

meanwhile i decided that maybe i should try giving a spin to super ghouls & ghost just to continue my run of awesome capcom snes games even tough it's probably a very rage inducing game

Well, when you said there were no more random battles I kind of figured it'd be a lot shorter.  The other RGG games are basically rpgs, this sounds more like an action game with some adventure segments between stages.

Oh wow, LA Noire makes you replay side quests that you completed during the story while you play in free roam. God damn this game is so terrible. I need to stop playing games that have Rockstar's name on it.

Started playing it this morning, it's pretty much an action-shooter. Still a lot of fun and over the top, though.

Well, you could avoid that particular problem by not doing any side missions during the story. They're all pretty short and you can teleport to them when you need to, so it's not a huge deal. It's just really annoying since I had already completed more than 20 of them, and I had to redo them in order to get the calls for missions I hadn't done.

But I still like the game more than I dislike it. I had some fun playing through the story, even though it gets less and less interesting after a certain point. It's worth checking out if the story and detective work and such interest you, but honestly I had more fun with Mafia 2 and Heavy Rain (which are kinda similar to LA Noire in different ways).

I have to get back to LA Noire

no joke, I have Chinatown rented from Netflix and bought LA Confidential on blu-ray to watch and get me back in the mood to finish it.  I got to the part where you need to drive to landmarks they don't list and kinda fell off.

Been playing some Metal Saga this week. It's pretty much one of the best PS2 RPGs because:

1. No weaboo characters or storyline
2. There's hardly any storyline at all. Die in a fire, embarassing cutscenes
3. Game world is huge and it's wide open, only impediment to progress is enemy difficulty
4. It's a mash up of Mad Max, Fallout, and the Old West
5. Tons of obscure references sprinkled into mundane dialog
6. You get to fight totally ridiculous monsters on-foot and in tanks
7. Nearly every aspect of the wide variety of tanks in the game is customizable
8. The game isn't about saving the world, it's only about makin' that dolla, dolla, dolla bill
9. You can have a dog in your party that carries a giant cannon on his back
10. Some pretty sweet tracks on the OST:

It's an embarrassment to gaming that this only has a 63% at Game Rankings.

I played Metal Max Returns some a while back. Yeah, it's good stuff too, but kinda pointless since Metal Saga does pretty much the same thing but with crisp [though hardly amazing] 3D graphics.

I think every case grades you at the end, so probably. Just make sure you investigate every crime scene until the music stops playing, that's when you know you've found every clue. And also, during the early missions while Phelps is still a regular cop, make sure you kill an enemy with his default pistol, because you need that for the weapon achievement.  There's only one mission you can do that on, and you have to drop the shotgun they give you (LB) in order to use the pistol, so it's easy to miss.

Other than that, just make sure you double check all of your answers while interviewing suspects, because if you mess up more than 2 or 3 times, you'll probably only get 4 stars and you'll have to replay that case.

Is it just me, or do the Playstation 2 & 3 analog sticks get sticky if you don't use them for a while? I swear, every time I let these controller sit for a few months, I have to get a paper towel and wipe the nubs because they're so sticky and I don't know why.

but anyway, I'm finally going to collect my PS3 freebies. I think I'll start up Infamous and play through that (alongside steel battalion) until I get Duke/Alice/Shadows of the Damned.

I would say the sliminess is due to bacterial buildup. Sony consoles are partially run by organic bio-shit, which is their secret to running games in 4D.

Juuuuuuust got the 50,000,000 points prize in Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore, christ what a chore, even on automatic. Still, 100 GamerScore pts. Now I can sell this along with most of my LIPS discs.

In actual screeching news, I also managed to squeeze out a 5-star Expert performance on The Beach Boys' Good Vibrations in Rock Band 3, so all I need is 5-stars Expert on Bohemian Rhapsody, and I'll get the Rock Band Immortal Achievement.

...but that's like saying, "All I need is a rocket-ship."  Christ, that song is hard.

five minutes and fifty seven seconds of magic my friend

i sing that song every time i go out to karaoke, usually blindfolded for effect

You do it blindfolded, but my audience does it with earplugs in.

Luckily I know a lovely woman who can actually sing, and she might help me get it. We got 99% last time we tried on Hard, as opposed to me failing out during "Scaramouche! Scaramouche! Can you do the fandango?"

I love singing it, it's just the game doesn't approve of my warbling tones, which can cause cats in heat to flock to my home.

Spent almost an hour getting a gold on Sol 2 on Elite difficulty in Wipeout HD. Fucking track is complete bullshit because the AI does not slow down when they turn. Small track with lots of turns and only 4 laps = >:(

Well I'm over half way through races/tournaments and that's been the only hard part so far, so I'm not doing too bad I suppose. Gonna play some more Steel Battalion in a minute. Or maybe Akai Katana. Either way, I'm in gaming heaven :bow

If you're going for platinum you've also got to get gold on Elite difficulty on every track in racebox phantom speed, forward and reverse. I got all the elite golds in the campaign (spent over an hour on a couple tracks lol), felt good but I still lack so many trophies  :'(

Icaras if my favorite, but I use Harimau and Goteki sometimes as well. I mainly used the Feisar the last time I played, but I haven't tried it out lately.

But yeah, Phantom speed is really fucking fast. Some races are definitely going to take a while to get through.

I'm specifically talking about the first game's soundtrack, which was performed by Chris Vrenna/Tweaker. I haven't heard anything from the new game.

I gotta be honest, looking at the Giant Bomb Quick Look, I was getting a scary, very generic Malice feeling from the game. I actually played that from start to finish, and though it was only 6 hours or so, it was the longest 6 hours of gaming I've ever dredged through.

It's sounding more and more lame.

I'll wait for the inevitable price drop, bag it new to get the code for the old game, which probably plays as well or better than the new one.

I'd forgotten to mention in the Quick Look, it looks like TTC is very low. The first thing Alice was doing there was busting open crates for Teeth. WHOA, Teeth as currency! How morbid! How edgy! Still: crates.  :'(

reading the thread on gaf about wizardry made me want to give another spin to class of heroes and... i now remember why i hated it,there is barely any graphic or music in here, all you have are boring ass random battles and loot, heck i want to enjoy the loot,i'm attracted by the loot but the rest of the game sucks so much i'm not sure how people can play these kind of games

one of the things that amuses me in these kind of games are the amount of arbitrary limitation they put in there just because "IT'S HARDCORE!" like,if you go to the inn you can restore your MP for free or your HP and MP for a small amount (actualy a decent sized amount at the beginning of the game) of money but considering that you have a heal spell, why you would ever want to waste money?

the fucking scenarios killzone 3 puts you in are cheap and not fun. this jetpack snow level is one of the worst fps levels i've ever played. so goddamn shitty and awful. your character is already weak and shit and now you're on your own against a thousand dudes and you have an inaccurate machine gun and flying around will only cause you to be killed fast. so you think... ok well then i probably need to only use it for moving between these areas. so you pull your gun out and then they throw jetpack cunts at you and they're too fast for the slow aim speed so you're still dead in seconds. just poor enemy layout overall.

it's not fun. fuck this game

Crappy mini games for simplistic exercises is the worst thing Mass Effect has done to rpgs.

If I want to open a chest (safe in this case) I DON'T want some stupid ass bobby pin or terminal hacking mini game.

Tried out New Vegas, and I'm so fucking pissed they didn't get rid of the single worst feature in that game. If my skill is high enough, let me hack through. If it's not, OH WELL, don't let me hack. But I don't want to have to do a shitty ass mini game to do it.

Got a gold on Sebenco Climb by literally .01 seconds. :lol Just got 2 more races to do on Phantom Elite, and then the tournament. Then I'll go back and do all of the time trials and shit since that's the easy part.

Gonna go play some more Steel Battalion now. I should be able to get over half way through the campaign tonight unless I fuck up horribly and get relegated or something. Damn VTs are not cheap; there's very little room for failure. But that's what makes it so good.

edit: went back and finished the last races I needed, so all I have left for Phantom Elite is that massive 8 track tournament. I'll save that for tomorrow though. NOW to go play Steel Battalion.

FUCK.

pretty sure that's why there is force lock with an increasing percentage the higher your skill is

I like it.  I like that Deus Ex Human Revolution has an in-depth hacking mini-game instead of just 'waiting...waiting' like in the first game.  Instead of nerdy-ass dice rolls and stats, it lets player skill determine success/failure like it should.  Makes it feel like you're playing a role.
