What do you mean 100%? Like a true ending? I dont care about sidequests unless its required for some sort of special ending...

I want to dive into that game, though.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (PSP) - Still into this game and about 10 hours in.  One mistake I made was that I ignored the side bracer quests and some of them expire after a certain time limit (wtf?)  There is no indication as to how soon you have to accept and complete these quests so you're SOL if you feel like putting some of them off.  So if you want to get the full experience of the game, once you see these quests, accept and complete them as soon as possible.  Although after reading some FAQs, it doesn't even seem like you can beat this game 100% in the first playthrough.  It's still a great game and has yet to get stale to me.

That's currently my most wanted PSP game, along with Final Fantasy Type-0. One of these days I'll get around to buying it.

I have no idea except that there is a maximum amount of bracer points that you will miss out on by missing out on side quests.  What that means, I'm not sure.  Sorry.

It's a great game that reminds me a lot of titles like Grandia 2 and a little bit of Skies of Arcadia except there is no Lambda Burst type move that I could spam all of the time.  There are some awkward uguu pantsuu~ moments in the game although not in a sickeningly high amount.  Just a sign of the times I 'spose :(

Megaman Powered Up (PSP) - Out of the dozen or so cheap PSP titles I bought, I dislike this game the most and felt like it was a waste of my money.  The controls are just bad for the game, compared to the original or when playing it on an emulator.  It just feels unresponsive compared to playing it on an NES pad or that throwaway $10 Logitech Dual Shock styled controller I bought for my laptop.  I do like that it uses the original music.  It just isn't that good and I'm not particularly nostalgic for Megaman.  Probably the first super cheap PSP title I bought that failed in its premise (quick, fun, and more importantly cheap entertainment).

 :'(

sorry that you feel that way.  personally i didnt have too much trouble getting used to the controls, and i'd recommend spending some more time working with it cuz there's SO MUCH content in the game.  it's by far the biggest mega man game in terms of content and it's all great.

I take it the PC version of Trails in the Sky isn't available in English (via fan translation or whatever)? I did some googling and couldn't find anything. I don't want to play it on the PSP. :-\

You probably won't find one.  It's one of the most text-intensive games around.  XSEED really stepped up to the plate here, considering how this game probably only sold 20,000 copies at the most.

Got killed by a hamster in VP2. Lost about an hour of game time in the Seraphic Gate area. In frustration I turned off my PS2 and said  "fuck this shit". I'll return to it later today.

Why?

I tried both and went with the PSP set.  The graphics are a little worse (I think it's fugly on both; at least FC) but the psp version is good enough.  I figured it being portable would make it more likely I'd finish a 40 hour rpg than playing it on my pc.

Because 4" screen vs. 37" screen. I almost always play my DS & PSP in my room anyway, so portability isn't a big feature for me. Oh well, I'll still try it out eventually. (I don't have the TV-out feature on my PSP either since I still have a launch 1000)

i played trails on the sky for about an hour and i saw an rpg with stereotypical character, monster so ugly and pixelated to be almost offensive and a somewhat sluggish battle system

sometimes i just think that when some developer are involved (*coff coff* like atlus *coff coff*) people just seems to accept everything...

aaaaaaaaanyway in my travel for the search of a old classic game i stumbled upon this thing called "star control 2 - the ur-quan masters" and it looks reaaaaaaaaly interessing but i can't help but feel that i'm missing some vital info for playing it

Seems to me magus only ever plays games for story. Complains about Saints Row 2 because it's a gangster game, despite the gameplay.

Seems to me you should stick to adventure games.

character and setting are important,i love final fantasy 7 because it features this pessimistic jerk on a mission to destroy some power plant in this dystopian city, certainly not because "ATTACK KILL ENEMY!!!"

when you remove stuff like that from a game like says... chibi robo, you aren't playing an awesome game about being a tiny little robot, you are just playing a boring-ass platform with somewhat bad control!

Radiant Historia begins with a very interessing time travel premise, rest assured that if instead of time travel they throwed me "GO RESCUE THE NPC!" i wouldn't have give the game a single chance

radiant historia is a horrible game,it re-uses location a lot and abuses those 3 sprites it has by using it every single chance it has,and then it tries to hide this fact by having huge stretch that are only dialogue!

but i really like stocke character and the time travel premise and the whole war suikodenishlike plot and so i want to play,it is a prime example of character and setting saying "yea! fuck you game!"

and yes the plot does fuck up near the end,i still think the game needs recognition just based on how so jrpgtrope unlikely the main character is

Finally updated my Japanese 360 and played some Ketsui. Beat my old score on my first try, even with a few really stupid deaths. I should be able to get 120+ million and get into the top 100 on the leaderboard with some more practice. :D

Definitely the best version of the game though. Looks better than MAME, controls perfectly, X-mode is awesome, achievements, leaderboards, replays, tons of concept art, and DAT ARRANGE SOUNDTRACK. Best port ever.

my current SHITlist:

Valkyria Chronicles 2 - the ultimate weeaboo pleasure. I love having my custom squad of kawaii waifu taking down the enemies. I've almost finished the game now. About 35 hours in.

:heartbeat :heartbeat
Lotte is mai waifu. I've got her as a sniper elite who can rape the toughest units on a map first turn. This game fucking owns

Mafia 2 - got my controller taped down to get the 1000 mile achievement, then I'm done with this turd.

Uncharted 2 - not really feeling this to be honest. The graphics are amazing, and the production values are top notch. Drake is a cockface however, and the game is way too linear for a platforming adventuring thing. I guess it is a Tomb Raider/Gears hybrid, but doesn't do the climbing/exploring shit as well as Tomb Raider, and the combat is pretty crappy. All the guns feel like assy pea-shooters. Mafia 2 had better, meatier gunplay ffs. Still, the ride is fun enough I guess, I'll finish it. And I'll play Uncharted 3.

Zumba Fitness for Kinect - got the demo. Zumba is fucking AWESOME. Dirty dancing to filthy hispanic music? Yes pls

It's cool; we're still rpg buddies, but Trails of the Sky is great; so you gotta give it more of a chance.

You like story and characters and cool worlds to explore and creative battle systems and lots of sidequests that actually have stories and not just grind drops and that is exactly what Sora no Kiseki is from what I've played and have heard about the trilogy.  It Grandia FUN ADVENTURE + Suikoden deep political world + some cool srpg/rpg hybrid battle system and good Falcom music.  Give it a chance and keep an open mind and I think it's just what you would enjoy.  Yes it's a little slow and not super modern in stuff like quick travel and quest logs and stuff, but that's part of the charm.  It feels like a classic Suikoden II style PS1 rpg that you never played.

I was just playing some 999 and what stuck out to me is how the dialogue is pretty witty.  I dunno if that's how the original was or Akysis added some snappyness to the TL, but it makes it a little easier to sit through ALL THIS TEXT than something like Pheonix Wright.  Just little stuff like item descriptions ("It's a handle where you put a bar of soap; I took a shower once so I know this").  Reminds me of good PnC adventure games when clicking on objects would produce funny lines so it was worth clicking on everything.

I also like how June is a ditzy moe girl who wants Junpei's cock.  Not that I like moe girls particularly, but in games it's far more stereotype for the girl to be the oblivious girl or tsundere and the guy to want the girl; so reversing that makes it kind of funny and more enjoyable.

I also like that the dumb trendy kid swears left and right, making the game rated M for no other reason (since the gore is offscreen).  I think Akysis made the TL "fun".

Gonna 1000 Death Smiles 2 next, and then put some time into Daifukkatsu Black Label. I think after that I'll either 1cc Dai Ou Jou Black Label or order Akai Katana. Dunno yet.

Been playing the HELL out of Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Here are the concise stages of my illness:

1) Intense, unreasonable hope that the game will be the best thing ever. It's an OWG with a Lego-like vehicle building core.

2) Disappointment. The chuggy-chug framerate and iffy on-foot controls make this the most annoyingly inconsistent platformer I've ever played.

3) Disappointment again. The vehicle based gameplay's difficulty curve is really uneven.

4) Excited. The building stuff is excellent. The access to new vehicle parts is metered and not overwhelming.

5) Realization that the game is not a platformer, the races are actually well-ramped, but the TT Trophies are sometimes not achievable at the same time as the base trophy.

6) Love.

You don't grind in SRW; the games are long because they are 1/2 visual novels.
You don't have to grind more than a few hours throughout an N1 srpg for the main story.  If you do post-game, yeah it's dozens of hours grinding, but I don't do post-game for the same reason I didn't grind everyone to level 99 in Blue Dragon.

I'm so rusty on Death Smiles 2, I've nearly forgotten how to play. The game's really fun when you're in the rhythm and you're constantly scoring and recharging and scoring, but when you fuck up and have to slowly build your meters back up yourself, god damn is the game frustrating.

I have no clue how I managed to get #31 on the leaderboards either (with 500m). I hate playing Lei.

K, got a question about 360 and lcds. My Samsung 32" lcd has like, jaggies, when playing games like Saints Row2. It drives me nuts. It's not even jaggies but feels like lack of anti-alias. I put 360 hd display settings on optimal settings and it still does it. Help? The lcd is 720p, btw and even when I put the 360 on 720p, it doesn't look too good. It looks far better on "optimal".

???

Happens in games like Dynasty Warriors 7 as well. I'm guessing they're just not well optimized or something? It just drives me nuts and it doesn't happen on ps3.

Yeah I dunno, looks like a normal HD console game to me. Saint's Row 2 is probably a little worse off than most games because it runs in 640p.

Anyway, I just realized I never played the Arrange mode in Death Smiles 2. It's actually pretty fun. Huh.

Oh so it runs on 720p? No wonder. Going to the PO tomorrow, Demi, to get boxes.
