I haven't had the chance to really game in a while and this weekend I had no plans so I just sat around all day Saturday/Sunday and played like a half-dozen games, ate and slept. It was glorious fun.
The Witcher (the first one): I'm actually getting somewhere in this and it's pretty cool. I wish there was fast travel, and greater storage mods like Western/Japanese games, but I can put up with it for the glorious Euro-rpg (this is my first Euro-rpg ever). Running around a big seamless environment, stealing everyone's shit and slaying monsters is good times.
Dirt 3: Good, but 90 second races and long loading make me play it in short bursts. It's definitely a solid fun Rally game with nice visuals, but I doubt it'll make it in my top5 racers this gen like Dirt 2 did.
Akai Katana Shin: Cave at its awesome. Tbh, I still prefer Cave's vertical shmups over horizontal because I find it harder to track bullets from various directions in horizontal shmups; but anyhow the graphics are great and the gameplay/scoring is one of my new favorites in a shmup. The soundtrack could be better though; it's no DS2 ost. But the game itself is >>>>>> DS2.
Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5: Started playing this again now that I can get achievements since I brought my J360 online. I'd completely forgotten how to play it, which actually kind of made it more fun since I remember when I did know how to play it, I wasn't that fond of it.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: Now that JPSN is back up I can finally play this again (no point in playing without autolog). On one hand I like the autolog and couldn't imagine playing without it. Otoh after playing Dirt 3 on the PC, this looks like a jagged low-res mess and I wish I was playing the clean PC version because the island is pretty sweet looking. The racing is fun but again, coming from Dirt 3 the handling is lololol; 90 degree turn on a dime by just holding brake and sliding lolololol. Wish the game was sandbox too; the island seems cool but you're not really exploring it.
Tales of Destiny R DC: Went back and started playing this again. Still pretty early on but man, this was such an amazing looking game. Definitely one of the best looking PS2 games ever. The 3d/2d towns are like Xenogears HD and the combat just looks sick. Great stuff; kind of want to finish this before Xillia in September since this is still the only Tales I haven't finished.
Super Robot Wars Alpha 3: Getting back to this. It's good but it's fuck long and feels pretty sloooow and draggy coming from Z2-1. Need to get a move on though since I still have an entire SRW left to play (OG Gaiden) before OG3 hits on PS3 this fall/winter.
999: I'm just playing this on the stairmaster/toilet really. So not advancing that quickly. Just got to the 2nd escape room. It's ok. The concept is fun, but like every VN in Japan there's too much talking saying too little and the text speed is kind of slow. Also the puzzles require you to write shit down and afaik there's no "notepad" button to just jot down notes which seems weird. Makes it hard to do puzzle rooms while exercising, so I try to do them at my desk with a pad of paper and then do the VN parts at other times.
I still need to start on the Portal 2 co-op, but I'm too lazy to be online at an exact time to play it with someone I know. Plus that requires me finding my headset which will take a while. One day I will play it though. Really liked Portal 2 SP, so I want to play the co-op!
