To go alongside Samurai Warriors 2, I'll play a game I actually think is FUN.

The Witcher 2. Was going to wait on that till I made my computer, because this game deserves better than my 260m and the frame rate is driving me crazy, but goddamit, that game is quality.

I played DX:HR like a shooter in many levels. Mixed it up a lot, also played on the hardest difficulty. Certainly the gunplay wasn't great but it was serviceable and you can easily switch up how you play the game between encounters. Himu plz

also there are multiple paths thru levels, multiple upgrades you can use to sneak past enemies, multiple objects you can interact with to make getting past guards easier (i.e. turning turrets against them)... so many ways to approach each room

Indeed. Himu is pretty factually wrong. Each level will almost always have at least 3 or 4 ways to proceed with multiple routes and sub-objectives.

And lots of hidden items and rooms that you can completely miss if you're not looking in every nook and cranny.

I'm nearly done with Kanji's dungeon in Persona 4 Golden, but I'm already really bored with the game. I still remember most of the story scenes from the original, and while the changes and additions are kinda interesting, it's still pretty much the same. I just don't think I can replay games that are so heavy on story.

I spent $40 on this when I could've bought Technika instead...

Positive, none of that means much to me when the game itself is as easy as DXHR is.

I'll give Rumbler points for multiple quests on missions.

All I can say is that by the time I was good ways into China, I was starting to really get bored. For all the reasons talked about.

-this game doesnt work because you cant run'n'gun and its really linear

-well actually you can run'n'gun and no it is not linear at all

-true, but that doesnt matter because its too easy

I didn't say it was linear. It's not linear, but don't tell me it's open like reviews claim because it isn't. And whether you're shooting or using stealth, the AI is so dumb that the game is definitely way too easy no matter how you approach it.

you follow a linear set of levels, but there are multiple pathways through each. there are also two different hub worlds that allow you to freely explore and contain multiple sidequests and secrets. aside from an open-world game, im not sure how much more nonlinear it could be

When talking of the structure, I was mostly talking about the hub world, not the actual missions.

I like DXHR. But I've played 15 hours according to steam and that was enough to get my fill. Maybe I'll beat it later.

I don't find any contradictions in my argument, you just merely disagree with it. I never said DXHR was linear, for example, and I was not talking about in-game missions when I was discussing the "on rails" bit. I said I got tired of the game due to little variation; I stand by that. Sure, missions have variety, but each mission is set up the same way, with boring AI, and easily exploitable gameplay. By hour 15, I got tired of it and dropped it. Simple.

I guess Syndicate doesn't have an online community on PC, and while you can play alone, it's really not feasible or balanced for one player.  Darkness 2 co-op is tuned to feel like a single player arcade mode.  Left 4 Dead has AI partners.  Syndicate sets you up to fail.

It tells you to take four hard drives (one per person), so alone you go back and forth four times.  And then it puts you in a situation where one objective is defending your VTOL and the other is across the map disabling some computer.  Enemies endlessly spawn and it becomes impossible at that point.

It's a shame because I can imagine these scenarios playing out great online.  The multiplayer demo on the 360 was a blast and encouraged teamwork.

Chivalry is really great. I prefer FFA I think. Really satisfying jumping into a completely chaotic brawl and killing a few guys with a wide sweep of a huge two-handed sword.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about the Omega DLC. So it's not worth playing? I thought Leviathan was OK apart from not having any new enemies and the undersea exploration part that goes nowhere. But yeah both Javik and Leviathan should have definitely been part of the main game.

there's like one new enemy that's a mish mash of existing ones and aria is pretty awesome as a party member in battle but the whole 3 hours is just you shooting shit with a little pointless talking. hell, when all is said and done and you've got omega back, aria is back to chilling in the citadel and doesn't acknowledge the dlc stuff at all. bitch i just wasted my sunday afternoon getting you you're space station back

does it get easy if you do any amount of grinding?

I quit P3P about 35 hours in because I was just wrecking everything pretty much the whole time.  I didn't think I had done too much grinding and I do a good job of fusing, but everything was free.

The difficulty seems alright to me (I'm playing on Hard and some enemies do a lot of damage). I think the '1 more' system just makes P3 and P4 inherently easy - if you're exploiting weaknesses and getting the preemptive strike on every shadow, you can kill most enemies before they even have a chance to attack. The combat just isn't good enough to carry the game on its own, especially since it has hours of story in between every dungeon.

It's good for one playthrough, anyway.

Playing Zombiewood on iOS (chronovore on Gameloft's network, if anyone else is playing this).

I am really, really wanting to Just Be Done With Darksiders (original). I started playing it in 2010 at some point, set it aside. This time, I set it aside again, for a month, and probably took me about 30 minutes to remember the controls. It's a pretty game and all, but I think it was a mistake to play on Easy, as the combat is (naturally) insanely boring and mashy. I think if I'd learned how to fight in it a bit better, this would all be an interesting challenge instead of a chore.

Also, still convinced Zumba is making fun of me. They've brought out a male latino instructor who doesn't even bother being consistent in his routines. I'm pretty sure he's banging the female teacher between workouts, and nothing I do seems to diminish his energy.

meh, i'll skip it.   i don't get how the system got downgraded from nocturne and DDS.  I guess they were going for a wider audience.

also, if someone could explain why Kanji and Akihiko have grey hair even though they're teens, that'd be cool, that's the only thing i'm really curious about from those games.... >:(

one of the few games that feels progressive on that nature. even yosuke's homophobia is "usual" for a teenage boy. Really liked P4's portrayal of sexual/gender matters most games won't even touch.

that's Xenosaga.   I already played that series.  :ninja

I just wanna use mechs in battle and i like the combo attack system stuff.  I can enjoy distinguished mentally-challenged story ironically.  Apparently if I get bored on disc 2, I can shut it off and not have to worry about missing much.

I wanna see people asserting their beliefs in certain categorical imperatives past the point of hammering you over the head with it.  And I wanna see various things on crosses, shit blowing up and leaving a cross of fire, characters eating cereal with crosses in it, all of which is deep and symbolic.  And everything has to be literally named after the things and concepts they symbolize.   8)

Almost done with chapter 2 in MGS4.  welp, it's been pretty fun, shit's about to get distinguished mentally-challenged.

the only really dumb stuff in the first part are the stupidly overdone Akiba poop jokes, [story stuff]
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the fact that snake just lets Drebin inject him with random nanomachines within a minute of meeting him (you'd think he'd be cautious about that sort of thing after MGS1), and that Snake and Liquid Ocelot have plain as day shots at killing each other, but don't.  and Rose marrying Campbell, but Rose is pretty dumb.
[close]

once Naomi gets involved...blech.  She is just the worst character in MGS4, hands down.  That's a big accomplishment considering Rose is also in this game.

edit: I started keeping a tally of how many times the word "nanomachine(s)" is used on a piece of paper, but gave up.
