Beat the main game in Forza Horizon. It's the most fun I've had with a racer that isn't 100% arcadey.

Fistful's times put me to shame. :'(

NP, I gave up on getting the funny bouquet rifle and frozen tuna by buying them so they'll surely drop for me now instead of grinders from the St Rappys! Now I can level my hunter and hopefully just use the universal rifle I purchased. Let's run some stuff again sometime :hyper

Chapter 4? Kinda okay? Chapter 4 is nostalgia wank with shitty robots. Hey guys do you remember this?! Chapter 4 sucks too. Then chapter 5 has literally one room of stealth. Only one room! Admittedly only one GOOD room...

kinda okay doesn't even mean "good." But there's some value in running through HD shadow moses, even if the robots are lame.

You know what would be awesome?  DLC that adds all the correct enemies to there  :drool

no arguments from me on that.

Kojima better calm the fuck down and deliver a full video game with Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain.

edit: speaking of which, Famitsu issue is promising something for MGS fans in the next issue, which comes out today I think.  Prob just a collection of MGS4 cut scenes for iOS.

Seriously.

I know I'm not tired of classic MG game play. It is one of my favorite things in gaming. But the cinematic bullshit ruins it. Most MGS games Are balanced in their approach but 4 is self indulged pap. I'll play a game of wait and see.

I think Kojima Got it out of his system but all we can do is hope.

Nope, she's definitely gone forever.  Would be way too complicated to bring a computer program built to resemble a woman back to life.  She's going to replaced by the hologram of a character from a popular eroge dating game, who looks 5 but is actually a 3000 year old goddess.

Seeing as how PW has a lot of game content and in general is very gamey with mechanics and shit all up in it. I guess the game is a good sign that Kojima will try and balance out game and story.

Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Just got Magnet Gloves, I think I'm near the end - I have almost 90% of overworld and 99% of underworld charted.

Capcom Zelda games >>> Nintendo Zelda games.

I wish they would make another Zelda game on the DMC4/ Lost Planet/ RE5/ Bionic Commando engine.

sadly the capcom folks apparently made the disastrous zelda games for DS also. WTF happened.

Far Cry 3 is awesome so far, but one issue I have is the number of patrols you have to dodge. If you do get into a shoot out with one, by the time you've done looting their corpses the next one is pulling up to see what you're doing. When I eventually get away there's usually a small parking lot's worth of jeeps behind me. I know I should be just legging it but when somebody's shooting at me I feel like I have to shoot back.

I'm in the middle of Eva's speech where she reveals that she's Snake's surrogate mother and how the Patriots were Big Boss, Para-medic, Zero, and Sigint.   I haven't really gotten over how fucking stupid this part is...he should've left this all a mystery, not done the Old Snake stuff to begin with.  Now he's stuck making Big Boss era MGS games until he retcons 4 :lol

The speech at the very end is even worse. Christ, fuck that stupid game. Of all the brilliant game developer auteurs that have been relegted to iOS garbage, why does Kojima still get the millions to do whatever he wants? We live in an unjust world.

i don't think that one was that long, but the one at the end of the chapter + mission 4 briefing (which has the "you were the lightning in that rain" conversation between Snake and Raiden) felt about that long.

Chapter 3 was seriously terrible.  You follow the guy, then you rail shoot.  That's it.  I remember being so excited about this chapter the first time I played it.  He's got the young Snake octocamo on and you've gotta find the body and then...you just follow some guy...then a cutscene...then you rail shoot...then the longest, dumbest cut scene in the game yet.  This is around the time in the game where everyone starts talking in distinguished mentally-challenged metaphors about shadows and light and destiny and atoning for the past and blah blah blah...

Now I'm at Shadow Moses...these robots are so fucking stupid.  I'll be done tomorrow night and MGS3 can wash this horrible taste out of my mouth.

edit: oh yeah, you also have the boring boss battle against Raging Beauty.

i like how they don't acknowledge that Snake kills him with a can of hairspray and a lighter at the end of MG2 :lol    That fight was pretty bad ass, though Big Boss' AI was kinda dumb.   You also throw chocolate into sulfuric acid to neutralize it....man, i wish i could be playing MG2  :'(

Chapter 3 is weird because it's only interesting to play on the harder difficulty. You're having to follow a guy while stealthing around the soliders. It's the worst part of the game but I saw what they were trying to do.

Chapter 4 is great. That moment when you come over the ridge and see Shadow Moses there :')

I really liked the desert location in Act 1. All the other Acts are some form of fan service and lack originality. Act 2 is in the jungle. Really? Not like we didn't have a game before 4 do that very thing. Act 3 is in a boring city dressed up as the main character from Snatch. Wow! I REMEMBER THAT! Act 4 is fucking Shadow Moses, going to a location I already know like my own hand. Who gives a fuck.

I can't stand fan service when it's treated as something like that. It cheapens the product and makes the fanbase come off as fucking monkeys.

I wish Metal Gear games would go back to taking place in one location the entire game. I hate having multiple locations in Metal Gear. It feels wrong.

But yeah, Acts 1 and 2 are pretty good. What do you think about the boss battles? I think that aside from Octopus they're all shit. Fucking wolf sniper battle in Act 4, I did that over 12 years ago in MGS1 at that same location. Why in the ever fuck do I want to do it again?

Haha, i forgot about that. Doesn't Psycho Mantis show up in Act 4? Goddamn that game is an abortion.

And nope, all the bosses sucked except Octopus. Especially the final boss. Octopus is only good because all the other bosses suck. If it were any other metal gear title, it'd be considered the worst boss. Going from 3's bosses, which had the best boss fights in the series, to 4's, is a huge gap in terms of quality.

How do you go from The End to...whatever is in 4?

I'd be fine with more Big Boss games if they were stand alone things. It just seems that any Big Poss game has to reveal more supposed "missing links".

If the plots were just good stand alone tales were Big Boss is just this character who gets involved in this military conflict happening in these random parts of the world I'd be fine with them. You could do a couple of games with that premise and have little connections that maybe reveal little backstory of some of the supporting MGS characters.

My brother came home from Rhode Island and brought a billion 360 games home he got in a firesale. I played a bit this afternoon.

Forza Horizon - graphics look like an Xbox 1 game, but the licensed soundtrack seems really good based on what little I've heard. Madeon, Mord Fustang, Porter Robinson and Wolfgang Gartner? I dig! I don't dig the fact you have to actually physically travel to the events (unless there's a way you can select them from the menu) nor am I really into racing games with more realistic physics.

Dragon's Dogma - seems pretty good from the half hour I played. Feels like if Monster Hunter and some random eurojank RPG had a baby.

Darksiders: DONE DONE DONE. (...on Easy  :-[ )

Jesus. Why did I wait so long to finish this game? I was definitely more in love with it in 2010; I just got tired of playing on Hard, but it was definitely more engaging when combat wasn't largely solved by mashing. Even though the music is great and the visuals are basically a "Joe Mad!" comic brought to screen, I learned that I should stop playing a game if I'm not feeling it.

I would be more inclined to replay if I could continue with my current purchased abilities (NG+), or if Normal awards more Souls than Easy. I didn't run around grinding, but I fought a whole mess of creatures, and am NOWHERE NEAR purchased-out at the Vulgrim's Shoppe.

The PSO:BB client always comes up as a virus, you need to mark it as safe in your virus scanner. As for GameGaurd I believe you had to put in host entries to fool it(it's been a while since i did a clean install) assume you are playing on shit-hack? If you get it up and running i'll run forest to falz with you :)

my scanner doesn't block it, gameguard does.   I thought about SCHTHACK or w/e, but honestly a day of offline play just doing those missions would scratch the itch.  can you play that without any tricks?  some of my own searching says "no" :(

i think it's the music...i need to hear it again!  aside from the burning rangers song.

Download the shit hack client, i think it's a no mess no fuss one time install. (of course they have re-balanced the game). You can create password protected rooms for yourself or if you want to be totally offline install sodaboy's PSO server on your own machine and point your client to localhost.

PSO:BB has no offline mode, only PSOv1 and PSOv2

this game really is the worst kind of fan service.  I think they had a shitty time developing it, then decided to cover it all up with cut scenes and fan servicey stuff...the gameplay to cut scene ratio in the last 3 chapters really screams that.  And none of it is all that well thought out.  Even the boss fights are lazy.  There's just so much dumb shit.  Every time there's a woman on screen, the camera inspects her every angle.  Whenever Snake does anything, he starts coughing up a lung like he's gonna die right there....after the 20th time it's like alright, I get it, he's dying.  Naomi says the same shit over and over about atoning for sins and fate and blah blah.  They use Raiden as a deus ex machina a couple times.  Mei Ling is some clumsy ditz.  The marriage proposal.

Psycho mantis popping up for no reason at all...right after you run through the damn MGS1 map, which you think is already a full serving of MGS1 fan service...yes, I know, that game was fun Kojima, I wish I could be playing it right now instead of crawling through this microwave hallway of a game.

Naomi's cancer is as random as this:

but the Rex vs. Ray fight is fun for a minute.  in a better shell of a game, it could've been a much cooler moment.

man, I forgot just how bad it really is, so i had to vent...I gotta go make some tacos.  that'll make the last 2 hours of cut scenes bearable...and then I never have to play it again, ever.

It all starts to go to shit with the rail shooting part on Drebin's vehicle at the end of ch.2 and never recovers.

i'll be on.  I haven't played PSO with anyone, so I don't know what I should do.  I just run around and kill things.  I'm a hunter.

done with mgs4. whew.  whatever.  the story is messed up, but it's really the writing and cut scene direction that hampers it.  overwrought doesn't begin to describe it.

edit: i have to hand it to kojima though...that era of the series is as fucking over as it could possibly be.  Maybe it was as heavy handed as it is to get it through everyone's brain, so nobody can even question it.
