Beat Omega and the Citadel DLC:

Omega - pretty boring, couldn't get into the scenario very much or the relationship between Aria and Nareen. Just was fighting through linear corridors for the most part. Snore.

Citadel - now this is more like it. The story, even if it feels like an MGS ripoff at parts, was kinda neat and I like how you basically had your whole team in combat at once, exchanging banter with one another (reminiscent of some areas of Infinite Undiscovery). There was an annoying stealth (or in my case, run to the exit and hope I don't get stuck on the geometry) part at the beginning. Very nice visuals too, really had a futuristic/cyberpunk look to it... it's much more visually distinct than most of ME3. I cheesed the arena (played on "narrative" difficulty) to grind tokens and get the achievements (switch back to "normal" right before you win). Probably the best ME3 dlc.

Sonic Generations is fucking awesome. Best Sonic game since S3&K... love how you can change the music for the stages.

I may be showing my oldskool SEGA fanboyism but I'm having more fun with this than most of the Mario games lately.

Trying for completion on BG&E HD, I've gone from "man, I loved this game!" to "OK, OK, I've had enough." Still a great game, but I should not have forced myself into this death march.

Divine Divinity is super easy if you just drop 10 steel scorpions into a boss area and stand back.

i have like 95% of the initial area map cleared and have 100% cleared out the sewer dungeon levels.  game is a hell of a lot of fun.  it's become such a time sink for me as my base ocd tendencies sees unexplored map areas and feels compelled to push them clean.

Yeah, I thought Ape Escape was Sony's mascot franchise in Japan and they seemed to have stuck around more than Crash, Spyro and them. Guess it was a matter of time until they dropped it.

yep yep, they even had a cross-promotion with mcdonalds where you could find an ape escape plushie in their happy meal (along with parappa and chocobo toys)

Crysis 3, even when played in short bursts is actually weirdly dull. It still looks great, and its probably a better game than RE6.

finished up Arkham Asylum with the infant. Now she is mad to play City.

Having fun dipping into a bunch of different games these days, not really bothered if I never go any further with most of them - Bit Trip Runner, Vanquish, VF5, Rayman Origins, P4G, even played through most of a single player campaign in Unreal Tournament for some reason. I have some new/recent stuff like DmC and Dishonored ready to go but not real motivated to play 'em right now.

What level design?

Finished Miasmata. Great game, though the constant threat becomes comical quickly, but maybe that's just me. Still amazing how well everything fits together and serves its purpose, from the lumbering, momentum based movement to being stalked by some creature as you try to fill out your map and find precious plants. Panic? You lose your way and drop your precious flowers. They wouldn't need a Far Cry 3's worth of budget, but it would be cool to see something as polished as that have Miasmata's focus.

finished the first run of ape escape 2,i could go for 100% but really it seems pointless considering you are just repeating levels and i've already did back when i first played it... so i started playing ape escape 3 instead

I've been playing Contra 3, Contra: Hard Corps, and Contra 4 over the last few days.

Hard Corps is fantastic. Each character has a unique set of weapons, there are branching paths with multiple endings & tons of boss fights. It's definitely one of the top tier games in the series, alongside Shattered Soldier & Hard Corps: Uprising.

Contra 3 is alright. The two overhead stages are a chore and I really don't like the stage 4 boss, but everything else is pretty good. I don't like Contra 4 at all at the moment, but I still need to spend a little more time with it. It does have nice graphics, at least.

A lot of people complain about the overhead stages in Contra 3, but I didn't think they were that bad. They can each be beaten in 2-3 min if you know what you're doing...

I didn't care too much for Hard Corps or Shattered Soldier... the boss fights in both seemed to rely too much on muscle memory. 4 was OK but hurt by the fact it felt too much like a retread, and had that awful stage 2, and that it used both screens.

They're not terrible, but there's nothing interesting about them either.  It felt like Konami put them in because they wanted to show off some Mode 7 effects, not because they had strong design.

They can each be beaten in 2-3 min if you know what you're doing...

Yes, but Contra 3 is like 20 minutes long. If you take 5 minutes to beat both stages combined, that's still 25% of the game. I don't like the corridor stages in the original Contra or the overhead stages in Super Contra either, fwiw.

I really liked the overhead stages, exactly for that reason: sweet Mode 7 porn. They were not as fun or interesting as the normal ones but I loved the variety and their role of showcasing technology. I appreciated them more after I beat the games as a part of the package.

You need to be put in the rape dumpster for hating the original corridor levels. I liked Super C (i think thats it) version of overhead levels, but Contra 3 was just confusing to control for me.

I played Rayman Origins' demo and while its not bad, the graphics feels too much like an HD Flash game. And I'm wondering if the entire game consists of speedrunning gracefully through levels. It didn't feel like it had the oldschool platforming fun of Rayman 1.

I'm in world 4 now and it's getting a bit harder (as in you might die sometime when trying to get more coins) but so far it's not HARD. It's no Rayman 1.

There is a flow to the running and it feels real good to be platforming and collecting coins.

I'm definitely not complaining about the difficulity. Rayman 1 had some unbelievable hard sections yeah. Anyone remember that short shore level on the water somewhere later in the game? That level had me raging, it took me so long to finish it. But it didn't take away from the game's quality. With Rayman Origins I'm more skeptic about the feel of the game. Like I said it feels too much like you have to dash through the levels, making stunts and jumps left and right.. the levels seem to be designed around that concept. Which doesn't fancy me.

continuing the random walk through my game library - played Tomb Raider Anniversary for a bit with the kid. She was not impressed, coming as it did on the heels of Arkham Asylum. 'she looks cold' was her only comment on Lara, so so much for the female protagonist being a draw. The game is pretty fugly even with the remake but it's serviceable I guess. Then I manfully suffered through the Pixar Kinect game for a bit, ugh.

They may be "just as bad," but the other Survivors you have in tow are not nearly as useless as they were in DR1. If you give them shotties or MGs, they will fucking cack the Psychos for you while you run around squealing.

yeah, I like that Survivors are capable now.  It's been many, many years since I played the first one, but I remember just carrying them to the safe house because I'd get fed up babysitting.  In DR2, I can ride a motorcycle across the outdoor area and they'll eventually catch up with a few scratches.

Overall I'm really liking it (except those bosses).  Not too deep into it yet and I'm already excited about that Dead Rising 3 teaser/leak.

And playing this while slowly (slooowly) going through Star Trek Enterprise, can't shake the thought that Chuck looks like Bakula.

edit: lol Chef Antoine is the one that made me to rage quit last night.  He did two of those grapple moves (where you lose 2 health and wiggle the stick) one after the other.  Dropped the controller during the second one and quit out.

Just finished the first playthrough with a Siren, now onto True Vault Hunter mode. Game just got so much better, enemies that kick your ass if you're not spec'ed correctly and using appropriate weaponry, and getting whay phatter loot.

Nope, not on either one. The online multiplayer stuff I'll have to boost now; DR2 was dead more than a year ago, only can be more dead now.

DR1 I can probably do, but I'll have to set aside a day specifically for those malarkey 5-day and 7-day survivor Achievements.

ah right, forgot about the online multi in that game. It had a fantastic script! I got the multi cheevs legit but they were a fucking pain alright.

I have all cheevs in DR1 except for 5 and 7 day survivor. With the state of my Xbox I dont dare attempt those. Also those achievements terrify me, due to the 14(?) hour time commitment in one sitting. I got 1000/1000 in DR2 and 200/200 in both the XBLA expansions, so I'm happy. Looking forward to going for 1000/1000 in OTR :win

I started playing Binary Domain... after the stiffness of ME3 the movement is really nice and smooth. The control is fantastic... and I like how the game has a real "clean", sterile look to it, almost reminiscent of an MGS game. The voice recognition is pretty dodgy though; I told the black guy "thanks" and the game interpreted it as "I love you" and then he gets all pissed off at me for hitting on him.

Thought the game was pretty mediocre and all those gaffers saying it's better than GoW are nuts. Unloading on a bot at point blank at watching it fall apart was pretty satisfying though.

Finished (200/200) Beyond Good and Evil HD last night. No XBLA game should have a credits sequence that long. They not only had the entire original staff, but it also started with all the Ubisoft Shanghai staff who were in charge of the port. Unskippable, and if you don't sit through the whole thing, there's no way to see the final scene with Uncle Pey'j.

Fired up Hybrid, did the tutorial, and then sat in a fruitless lobby/matchmaking for 15 minutes. I guess this game is utterly dead. I'll try to build a session through TA.com

Hoping my copy of Tomb Raider arrives soon, though it's not like I don't have a dozen games recently purchased through direct-download to distract me.

Also still spending stupid amounts of time on iOS across my iPad and phone. Mainly cycling through turns on Clash of Clans, Battle Nations, and Happy Street. Played a few hours of Heroes of Destiny, which I'm a little torn on.

Started Max Payne 3 which was a Games-on-Demand purchase. It was a 7GB download.

On startup, it tells me that 3 separate 2GB content packs are needed to play through both singleplayer and multiplayer. Jesus. 13GB? Really?
