Started Max Payne 3 which was a Games-on-Demand purchase. It was a 7GB download.

On startup, it tells me that 3 separate 2GB content packs are needed to play through both singleplayer and multiplayer. Jesus. 13GB? Really?

I see you do not know that the PC version is a 30 gig download.

Must be nice!

Played a bit more Binary Domain... I like how the characters interact with each other, and the slight racism in the game. Making fun of the Chinese girl for living in a rice paddy, using the term "japs"...

But yeah this is one of the most "western" Japanese games I've ever played.

Binary Domain was awesome.

Playing Yakuza 5 still.  This Haruka chapter is starting to drag ass bad.  The rhythm stuff itself isn't bad, but there are only about six songs and you'll be repeating the main one a LOT.  Her chapter is also one of the nastiest bit of culture/language barrier I've seen in one of these games.  Some of her mini-games include: having to give timed replies to fans, writing the correct kanji for fans' names on autographs, a timed quiz show about Osaka, and the mother of all, a manzai comedy routine where you not only have to choose the correct answer, but have to nail the timing to pass.

I imagine this chapter is where most importers are saying "fuck it" and playing something else.  I'll keep pushing through, of course.  I've got 35 hours on the clock now, and two characters left plus the wrap-up chapter, so I'll at least give the game this - it's big.  And, I guess, it's at least better than Dead Souls, but at this point in the game, it still feels like a step down from 3/4, which were a solid step down from 2/Kenzan.  Might be time to shoot Old Yeller, though I suspect that won't happen anytime soon given how this one sold.

I'm still playing through Macross 30 (holy difficulty spike, Batman!), but need to get back to RGG5 and finish it up.

Bought that new Duke Nukem 3D release on Steam cause I'm a fucking idiot and will probably buy this game a thousand times before I die. It has three new episodes though. Should be interesting.

Considering you don't consider Lore to be your be your friend, don't count on us being friends any longer. You can't even name any examples of me doing this beyond trying to find religion - something many people do. If anything I think it kind of makes you look foolish. You think you'll get that crappy accounting degree and everything will be peachy for your crappy upper middle class bourgeois life style with your mommy paying rent for your house and you nailing a job at daddys dental practice. Then you dare make light of my life, say I'm not "genuine" because I try to live my life the best I can in search of my own happiness.

Fuck off.

And never talk to me again.

Your treatment of serious psychological matters teeters from ignorant to really fucking stupid. With your admission, me trying to learn something new like learning all about cars - just for knowledges sake - is being having a "phase."

Considering how long we have been talking I never imagined you would ever show so much disrespect to someone who considered you a friend.

The real question is: what can YOU do? I can do all kinds of shit and Im proud of that. My goal in life is to be ignorant. If I'm ignorant of something I obsess over it until I have good knowledge on it. What drives you? What are you PASSIONATE about, porn aside? Do me a favor and kill yourself. Your passionless life is a shit stain of waste and you dare continuously give people who think differently about once with disdain.

Thank you for truly putting stock in the BORE. Because that's all you are, Pea Dick. And it is a good thing too because you have plenty of company.

got a level 50 Siren in BL2 now, some dude jumped into my game last night and offered to dupe me some weapons, I was like OK, now I have all the best level 50 gear which has kinda killed the game. Still, beats farming for the shit.

Will roll another character and get the DLC soon

OMG, Atelier Totori has the best feature ever in an RPG. You can change the battle music! And not just to one or two other songs, but like 100 different tracks from other Atelier games and spinoffs. So you if want the Mana Khemia or Atelier Iris 2 final boss music to play while you're fighting squirrels in the first forest, no prob!

There's even "No Intro" versions for songs that have extended intros like the second two, for when you don't have to have to wait 30 seconds to get your uguu on. :bow Based Gust :bow2

Playing Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition, mostly just to try the expansions. So far I've played the DC one, which has some pretty assy level design, and the tropical one, which is actually pretty cool. All the guns are replaced with goofy waterguns and shit and the bad guys are all wearing shades and hawaiin shirts. Haven't tried the Christmas themed one yet, but everything I've read says it's awful.

Don't Starve is fun. I bought it yesterday and played until a monster killed me. Seems like a game I can sink a bunch of time into. Night time gets pretty intense with your tiny campfire barely lighting up a small circle. I'm looking forward to putting more time into it.

I bought Don't Starve, Swords and Soldiers HD and The Baconning during steam's indies sale

Yeah, I was blissfully unaware of the 30GB download for PC Max Payne 3. That's incredible. Between MP3 and LA Noire, Rockstar may have forgotten how to compress data.

The multiplayer is pretty cool so far, though I am a total newb and am getting 0wn3d severely and repeatedly across every map. Multi is also kinda dead, though I can imagine getting in after the 3-month mark is bad for most any game. It's a shame, because the multi is much more compelling than GTA IV's, which has had a very, very long shelf life.

First Mercenaries game: SQUEEEEEAAA! God DAMN that is a good game. Shame about the sequel being botched so badly.

If you haven't given The Saboteur a try, give it a shot. It's seriously under-appreciated.

As Chrono said it's just compression and optimisation (or lack of). R* obviously does not take this into consideration when developing and publishing their projects. No idea how big Read Dead Redemption would be, if they ever published it digitally!

more tabletop games i like......

Roll Through The Ages

Roll Through the Ages is a pretty simple game, you have 3 6-faced dice and each dice represent something your civilization can do,one faces represent workforce, one represent coins, another represent good, another represent food and the last one represent disaster (there is another face that let you pick between food and workforce) each turn you feed all your cities (otherwise you lose point for every city you can't feed) you throw dice equal to the number of cities you own then re-roll (twice) all the dice you don't like and then use the resource you gain to buy technologies (which scores you point and gives you special power like protecting you for certain disaster or letting you trade resource for workforce) or use your workforce to build more cities so you can throw more dices or wonders which let you score point, the game ends when either a player has bought 6 techonology or all the wonders avaiable have been built

each game is pretty short and it can basicaly described as yahtzee meet super-dumbed down civilization

Played a bit of VLR on the plane ride... still not too far (up to the second "chromatic door" choice) but so far it hasn't really hooked me the way 999 did. A lot of the story seems like a retread at this point, with the SAW influence now completely worn on its sleeve, though the puzzles are a bit of a step up from 999.

On the second to last stage of Mark of the Ninja. I stopped playing before because I got distracted by some other game. GOnna try to finish it up tonight. I've also still been playing Phantom Breaker: Battleground. My opinion on it being the best beat-em-up on XBL has only gotten stronger, especially after fighting some of the players online who are high on the leaderboards.

I felt the same way in the beginning.  Not making any promises, but for me it picked up and I became invested like I did with 999.

Red Dead Redemption is on GOD, and it doesn't feature a shit-tonne of post-purchase package downloads. It's just the same size as the dvd was, apparently.

I don't buy that the additional size is cinema, because the Compatibility Packs were specifically for online multiplayer, which doesn't feature any cine. The maps packs are large-ish, and prolly don't feature much texture sharing with each other.

Pre rendered high res cine would be sizable, but in-game less so, unless their in-game Cinematics feature really impractical mesh animation systems.

Again, I'm at a loss.

How far are you now Chrono?
Just finished the cemetary, and am back in the favela. I am not really feeling the "do it again, stupid" school of design in the single player campaign. OTOH, I am loving the ever loving hell out of the multiplayer. They took everything that was fun in RDR multi, peeked at the CoD handbook, and threw it into a blender and hit frappé.

I'm having flashbacks to RDR, but I am sucking big time. I'm level 9 after a few hors of playing, but most of these guys are level 30+, with a lot of legendary peeps running around, root-rootering my virgin rosebud.

Great fun, though.

Usually sometime between 8pm and 1am. Why?

I got Phantom whatever and want to co-op. Why do you think it's so good? Combos?

Nice! Lots of reasons, but probably mainly because it feels like you have more control over your character than in other similar games that we've gotten these past few years. And yes, combos.

I gotta delete the dlc if I want to play with you (new character and raises lvl cap to 99), but I can always just redownload it.

They split the playerbase with the DLC?   :-\
