i'm done with rogue galaxy,i suddenly remembered why i couldn't finish it,rogue galaxy has

- horrible combat, you have a spell that blows up all the enemies and infinite MP potion, there is no reason to ever fight
- all the dungeons are hallway
- more loading than it should be everywhere
- every single shithead in this world has some dramatic past that it has to blurt up before getting out of their way
- 100% it is more chorish than 1000/1000 lost odyssey, blue dragon and resonance of fate ALL TOGETHER

the worst thing is that it even starts good,it just crash in the middle
so anyway... since i've raved about gust this and gust that and since i've finaly decided to pick a ps3 after they announced like... the 5th atelier games on that damned thing,i've decided to replay mana-khemia... soooooooooo much better

I can't believe you called Shadow Of Rome childish. Fucking Atelier? Rogue Galaxy? Mana-khemia?

 :orly :gurl

ehy at least they don't feature enemies that pee themself in terror :birdman

Sleeping Dogs was pretty good although I thought all the shooting at the endgame was silly considering the circumstances.

Started Sleeping Dogs today. Not use to a sandbox game having any type of real hand to hand combat, so that's been a nice surprise so far.

Great game. Much better than it should be for a game which got passed around so much.

I came within an inch of 2-ALL'ing DOJBL just now... I know I will eventually clear it if I keep going, but god damn is it hard to not get frustrated and/or demotivated when you fail right at the finish line. :gloomy

Eh, I would have kept playing anyway because I broke my combo in the middle of 2-5, preventing me from beating my previous score.

I'm using Type-A/Exy in Black Label, but if I were to play WL I'd switch to Type-B/Leinyan (because she's better for survival). The first loop is pretty much the same. In fact it's actually easier in WL if you're not concerned about keeping the max bomb bonus, because then you'll be able to spam bombs and suicide on bosses to keep rank low. The second loop is much harder tho. You're basically not allowed to make more than 1 mistake before the 2-5 boss if you want to have a chance at clearing it. So I think I could reach Hibachi, but I wouldn't be able to beat him without perfect play & a lot of luck.

I've been watching hinanihentai (or whatever his name is) stream his DOJWL 2-ALL attempts on nico video for a while now and I'm amazed by his patience. If he dies before the 2-3 boss he just resets the game and tries again. That would drive me crazy very quickly. :lol

2nd loop on original or BL is completely ridiculous. I heard BL isn't quite as bad as original because you get to keep your lives and your rank drops a lot if you die, so survival is easier than scoring. Whereas original like you said you get 1 life and the rank doesn't drop much.

Yup that is insane patience. Does he play on console or use practice modes? If I made a serious attempt at a shmup you bet I'd be whoring out practice mode like a bitch.

Yeah, BL is a lot easier to 2-ALL because you keep your spare lives when you enter the loop (which gives you 1 more life in total). That extra breathing room also makes Exy a little more viable for those of us who aren't God-tier players. And your hyper meter fills faster in BL, which also makes the game a little easier (or just as hard if you're really pushing score).

He plays the 360 version. I've seen him use training mode a few times, but he mostly just plays credit after credit. That's something I really need to force myself to do. I spend way too much time in training mode with every game I play, but I always want to practice things until I feel like I can do it consistently. I know I'd be better off if I'd just play credits, but I can't help it. :(

ep2 of Walking Dead was awesome. Predictable as all hell but still really intense and enjoyable.

also, game reviewers need to have their faces kicked in:

Quote from: giant bomb review
No matter how you play Lee, it becomes apparent that this child is going to become your responsibility.

And what a wonderful, heart-wrenching responsibility she turns out to be. It is with no amount of exaggeration that I say that Clementine is one of the most fully-realized, brilliantly written child characters ever put into any kind of entertainment medium.

I honestly expected the rest of the review to then go on about how he wouldnt stop playing with his little penis, like a little distinguished mentally-challenged baby, while thinking about Clementine. It is with no amount of exaggeration that I say that that review was the most nauseating, giant wank off of a review I have ever read.

When I worked up to 1ccing Futari BL Maniac, I spent a lot of time in practice mode. Both to keep from getting bored, and to work on sections I needed to. How many hours have you put into DOJ BL? I feel like I don't have the skill or patience to ever 2-ALL it.

I did that with Witcher 2 the other night.  Couldn't find a good compromise.  Knowing I'm building a new PC in summer, I decided to drop it until then.

And to think I played Crysis 1 at low settings with a poor frame rate back in 2007.  The years have spoiled me.

I mostly used MAME Plus to play. That doesn't keep track of your play time, so I'd have to take a wild guess and say 200-300 hours. I've been playing the game on & off for at least a year and a half now, and I spent a whole lot of time learning (& relearning after a long hiatus) multiple strategies for everything in both loops.

I'm trying to force myself to stick with the 360 version exclusively and only play full credits, but even now I feel the urge to load up MAME and practice a couple of new ideas. :-\

i am home sick (sickest i've been in years) and for whatever reason Skyrim is finally clicking.  I don't think I ever put in more than 2 hours or so with it in the time that i've actually purchased it, but now i'm having a grand old time though i think i may be under powered for the areas which i'm going to.  my companion and summons tend to do most of the heavy lifting for me

thats the best way to do it early on, though if youre playing a destruction mage id recommend getting a mod because the spells are too weak otherwise

Sounds like Batman AA :smug

Also Uncharted doesn't have level design like this. Uncharted is a straight linear trek. Tomb Raider isnt.

Buttman actually had quite a lot of secret areas and Metroid like backtracking though. Only reason to backtrack in TR is to collect shit. Also backtracking in TR is also more like a level select. Theres no hub and you never use connecting areas or anything (most of them are actually inaccessible due to bridges breaking etc.)

so a blatantly casual XP quest bro/bro-ette generic TPS reboot of a once good platforming + adventure series is one of the games of the gen, but MGSV is definitely shit because Kojima didn't show off pro-level strats at European Extreme level difficulty at a game developer's conference for a game that hasn't even had a full reveal yet?   And I'm "stanning" because I thought it was a little early to judge MGSV, even though I strongly disliked MGS4 like any good Metal Gear fan.

Now that I'm done with Biocrap, it's time for Gears of War Judgement and Batman Arkham City.

I'm not sure about Judgement. The declassified thing is cool, but they way the did it makes it feel like them game is a series of challenge rooms, which kind of really hurts the single player. But it's got dat ass going for it and well Gears always looks good at least.

Batman, well I picked up the GOTY because I wanted to play the DLC, but I put it down to play the disappointing new Bioshock. Don't caught in the hype I guess. I picked it up on PS3 where as I had the original for Xbox. It sucks that you can't use the DLC costumes in the main story without beating the game ounce, unless you have a code. Seems really stupid.

The game is tough as hell, thats for sure. I can make it to stage 4 on 1 credit in Arcade mode, but the difficulty ramps up so hard in that level. Just needa keep practicing. I know I've got the chops, just need the dedication.

Anyway it's so refreshing playing this game after babby shit like Borderlands and Tomb Raider. I'm loving the challenge.

Protip: try and murder the entire crew of the flagship in the first round of the boss. The crew members don't respawn between rounds, so the next round you can just pound the ship down with no chance of it evading your shots. Try and recruit Mantis and get their fighting leveled up and you can waste the crew via boarding.

Same here... battle system has some shitty elements (poor AI, special moves interrupting your commands, some 'mashy' elements) but everything apart from the battles are great. Stunning graphics, cool dungeons that don't overstay their welcome, tons of little sidequests and hidden areas, casino/arena/worldmap... totally feels like the kind of RPGs I was expecting this gen but didn't get.

I actually enjoyed the battle system, but there were a few boss battles where my teammates did nothing and got killed immediately.

I really wish someone would embrace the turn-based menu battle system of old.

Well the DS version (which is the same game but in 2d) uses a turn-based battle system that's more like pokemon/megami tensei.

From what I could tell watching my friend play the PS3 version, it reminded me of FFXII's battle system?  Auto-plays but you can issues commands to any party member at any time.

NNNNNNGGGGGHHHH

oh... god... it... hurts... it... hurts... so... much...

so... there is this indie game called evolandia and i hope the internet NEVER EVER discover this,i'm not sure why i'm telling you about this game because the world must not know this game exist...
basicaly... it's an action rpg, when you start the game there is no music... no sound... and only monochrome 8-bit graphics, but as you keep playing... you open chests and each chest add features to the game, the first chest give you sound FX for example, another gives you 8-way directional walking as opposed to 4 and as you keep playing the graphics improve going from SNES like graphic and actualy somewhat decent 3D graphics... it's actualy a pretty decent and fun concept

but then... the horror... the horror happens... the reference to zelda and final fantasy start appearing,it starts innocently enough with a darknut enemy there,a random kefka name dropped that... but then as you keep playing,it becomes MORE and MORE Heavy Handed, you find the buster sword and the game goes like "it was owned by a famous hero you know? ;)" the game throws you "not-tetramaster" and start looking like this

spoiler (click to show/hide)
[close]

and then... and then... you go mad with the revelation

spoiler (click to show/hide)
your character is named clink, not the sounds the metal does when it hits something but...

It's on Steam, so everyone already knows. Also most of the people that played it said it was pretty "meh". The big news of the day was Another World getting a Steam release. :bow2

How does the PC version of Another World compare to the SEGA CD Out of this World/Heart of the Alien combo pack?

It is likely based on the HD version released in 2006 (?). It is fine. Use kbm and it is perfect.

The 20th anniversary edition has the graphical updates of the 15th anniversary edition, just with some other stuff added in.
