Is it as good as TIMESHIFT?

Never played that. But the game isn't simply a game of using some slow mo time thing. I mean there are weapons that do that but there are a variety of ways to kill people with a good selection of weapons that are diverse. That's actually the best part of the game. The combat is solid.

Back to team fortress 2. I've actually been thinking about this scenario (it kept recurring) all week so its kinda bothering me. I know its a team based game but consider the following scenario. 2fort Capture the flag. Opposing team has blocked the battlement entrance to intel with a dispenser. That same engineer has perched a sentry over the courtyard. He maintains these two throughout the match. The dispenser blocking that doorway means the scout cannot access the intel hall through the battlements, and that sentry gun overfacing the courtyard kinda takes care of everything else except for the spy who can't rid the buildings with the engineer steps away.  Now, its easy enough to get into the intel room as the spy if not a little time consuming. Problem is there is yet another engineer here. He builds the sentry on the desk and then traps himself with a dispenser behind the desk. His back is to the wall and I have no chance of offing him and then disabling the buildings.

So, whats the strategy to take here? Yes I am a noob about this.

1. Spy saps sentry/dispenser, effectively opening the front door. Others destroy dispenser/sentry

2. Demo lobs grenades and sentry/dispenser and destroys them

3. Soldier fires rockets at sentry/dispenser and destroys them

4. Sniper picks off engineer and others destroy sentry/dispenser

5. Medic ubers Heavy/Soldier/Demo/Pyro and kills engineer and destroys sentry/dispenser

The last one works almost every time.

Yeah, all of Sakimoto's stuff outside of BoFV sounds similar.  He has less range than Sakuraba and that's saying something!

But who cares, because what he does compose sounds awesome.

BoFV ost is his best and most unique sounding.

Gradius V soundtrack!

I like Sakimoto's stuff a lot but wish he'd do more electronic stuff...

So, whats the strategy to take here? Yes I am a noob about this.

It's almost impossible for even a pair of engineers to keep a sentry on the balcony over the 2fort courtyard because it's very easy for snipers and soldiers to shoot down from the other side.  It only takes like two or three fully charged sniper shots to blow away a fully upgraded sentry, and the sniper can keep up shooting much longer than an engineer can go on repairing it.

Scouts can destroy a dispenser fairly quickly.  The point of "blocking" a hallway with a dispenser is to let the engineer know someone is there and to alert his teammates rather than truly block the passage.

Medic uber with soldier, heavy or demo can almost always clear out the intel room of sentries.  There really isn't much of a defensive strategy against it other than killing the medic early or forcing an uber on something else prior to getting down to the basement.  Shit is powerful as hell.

I think I've hit the proverbial rutt when it comes to gaming. I've got a stack of backlog but no drive to complete it. None of it interests me, It might have previously but now I just don't know where to even start.

So much in the log and so much coming in the pipe. I need to blow something out and quickly!

Maybe we're talking about the wrong courtyard. I'm talking about the courtyard inside each respective team's base.  A sniper cant hit those cus he cant shoot through walls!

Finally 1000'd DoA4. What an absolute bitch of a game that was. In fact it's probably the toughest game that I've finished. Now to 1000 Dead or Alive Volleyball for full Team Ninja completion. 8)

And I'm still playing Mushi Futari. I've got two achievements left out of the Black Label DLC, one of which is for killing Spiritual Larsa in God Mode. That's probably the hardest achievement on the 360 and you need to actually be a God to get it, so fuck that. The other achievement I'm actually trying to get is for getting the counter to 100,000 in Black Label Original. It's pretty tough since you basically need to play through 90% of the game without dying or using a bomb while still scoring well - which can be frustrating in Black Label since you need to point-blank enemies for maximum gems. I think I should be able to get it though with some practice since my best is around 75,000. Also, Arrange mode is really fun in Futari. I finally 1CC'd Ultra Arrange after dying on Larsa on my three previous attempts, but now that I know what I'm doing I'll probably play it more often.

Finally got around to Bionic Commando Rearmed. Been trying to work through my backlog. I gave it a good hour but this just ain't my thing. Despite all the good reviews and forum love I just didn't find it actually all that fun. Perhaps has something to do with the fact that even as a kid, I never found the original to be that enjoyable. Probably just a me thing but I can finally cross this one off the list as I don't really have much desire to finish it.

I was playing on the medium difficulty level which didn't seem to have lives that I could tell so the difficulty part of it didn't really seem to factor in.

Like I said it's probably more to do with the fact that I simply don't like the conceit of the arm replacing jumps. I get that's the entire point of the game, but to be honest, even when I got use to it, I find it to be a pain. So if anything its probably me not being able to get over that mental hurdle which impairs the fun factor for me.

I get why other people may like it. It's just not for me.

Game is way better 2p.  I wasn't feeling it so much 1p, but a friend came over and we marathon'd the whole thing in one go and it was awesome.

Started playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent.  Pretty cool spooky horror game like Penumbra.  Slight higher budget with a better looking engine and most notes are fully voiced, cool.

My bad, I thought you meant outside.  There are plenty of ways for a single demoman to take out sentries in that room no matter where the engineer tries to stick them; either by running down the narrow hallway and firing pipebombs up on the ledge under the cover of the walkway, or if it's on floor level, you can bounce them around the corner.  That's just something you'll need to fart around with for awhile to figure out.

But again, an uber rampage will do the job without much added effort.

I got super mario galaxy 2 as a gift. Its decently fun and whatnot but you can tell this was like, Nintendo recycling art assets to maximise the return from developing the previous game. But thats nerd nitpicking and I will not stoop to that, sir!  Bosses in particular are all on par with Bouldergeist from the first mario galaxy. That is to say challenging, inventive, and plain fun to fight.  That chimp can bite me though. Music isn't that memorable this time around however, although Puzzle Plank theme is catchy.

Been playing Dead Rising an awful lot lately because of Case Zero and I sat down today and knocked out the "Hella Copter" achievement.  After 15-20 minutes of trying and on my last handful of bullets for my sniper rifle, I finally shot the pilot.  Total blind luck.

Now with the special forces costume unlocked, the only things I've got left are the items you get for the 5/7 day survivor achievements, and there's just no way in hell I'm doing either of those.  I don't even think demi would be crazy enough to sit there for 14 fucking hours straight for 20 measly points and a pair of boxer shorts.  Seems like a colossal waste of time.

Three hours into Nier.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game.  Well, mostly because the gameplay is hack and slash.  I also like the missions, which involve a lot of hacking and slashing along the way.  I don't care for the plot at all or the environments.  I'm just here to slash the shit out of some shades.

Just beat God of War 3.  Great game.  I played part one and found it plagued with design problems, so I never finished it.  Part three was pretty epic from the first stage.  Boy, is jumping f'ed up in this game or what?  It's like Kratos has lead boots on.  I died more times because of the crappy jumping controls than actual combat.

My library has games available for checkout. They had Trauma Team (Wii), and I've been running it through its paces.  It's like trauma center except you have several different doctors with different specialties. Sounds awesome, except instead of slicing people up on in autopsy table for clues, you're playing a medical  version of phoenix wright for the forensics section. Bummer, I really wanted to open up some dead bodies instead. Same kind of game applies to Diagnostics. Orthopedics is more surgically oriented, but its really like a string of minigames that you are graded on individually, no deviation but its alright honestly.  Endoscopy has you literally thrusting your wiimote to simulate an endoscopy tool going up someone's pooper. Its not as bad as has been made out but you wonder why it couldn't just be a button other than adding artificial difficulty.  Which is sad cus I like the endoscopy surgeries themselves in spite of its control mechanism.  Now, first response is awesome. You arrive at horrible accidents and have to juggle many folks at the same time. You can easily lose someone if you're careless and every victim has their own unique needs.
...
Ironically I haven't done any of the core surgery stuff yet.  I'm enjoying the game overall as the unique experiment it is. What's awesome is that you can skip 90 percent of the cutscenes/story, there's even an option in the beginning that asks you how much you care about story!

I thought age was supposed to bring patience :gloomy

Age means you don't want to deal with the same bullshit you used to put up with.

Finally got 1550/1550 on Fallout 3. Took longer than I expected, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I am glad I'm done with it though. By the time I started Broken Steel I was already level 30, so I had no incentive to sit through the game's bad combat. Just ran right by everyone and blew through the 100+ stimpacks I had. But yeah, other than that I liked all of the little stories and quests that each town/character had.

The real news here is that Bethesda finally managed to make a good game. :o They went from Oblivion being a 0-1/10 piece of garbage to Fallout 3 being a 7.5-8/10 game. I guess miracles can happen.

About how I feel although I'd put Fallout 3 closer to a 7.  Though I didn't go through the expansions.  I started with anchorage and finished it and it was such a chore I never bothered with any of the other expansions.

Like you said the combat in Bethesda games is just bad.  Totally bland and unstrategic.  And their dialogues are usually boring with forgettable characters.  And the environments are sparse and empty.  I mean they work and you can get an rpg exprience out of it.  But they're so average and bland.

I can't wait to see how the superior rpg developer Obsidian takes their Fallout 3 engine and makes a "more-rpg" game out of it with New Vegas.

Point Lookout is really really good. I thought it was easily one of the best parts of the game. Broken Steel I kinda hated since they just spam tons of enemies at you, most of which have a fuckton of health. But I guess that is the real ending of the game. I kinda liked Zeta and Operation Anchorage as well, but they both drag on a little. Still, they are a nice change in setting from the same old wasteland.

I'm interested in New Vegas, but I'm going to wait until next year when they release the inevitable GotY edition so I don't have to pay $100+ for the full game.

If I didn't get it as a birthday present I'd try to trade it in by this point.  One thing I realised is that the planetoids themselves don't have as much personality as they did the first time around.  Remember in Galaxy 1, when you went topside on one planet and it was landscaped with half submerged cubes spewing chomps and bullet bills were flying everywhere? Not much of that here.  Although some of the ghost house stuff is up to snuff in that regard. Like that one level that does the Inception-esque dimensional folding.

I don't get the people who disliked Galaxy 2.  It was basically Galaxy (which is awesome) but new levels with lots of variety and less repetition.  Is it better than Galaxy 1?  I dunno, who cares.  Is it a great Mario game, hell yeah.

My brother beat Galaxy 2 the other day and gave me the game back.  He was glad when it was over.  Didn't like it all that much.  I told him he was crazy.

I've been meaning to check out the demo.  Looks 10x better than Lair from the trailer.

bebpo - the whole game feels like a rehash with some new powerup added in there so they could say otherwise, these new powerup aren't bad,but they aren't that good either

galaxy has the freezeflame galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Freezeflame_Galaxy
galaxy 2 has the shiverburn galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Shiverburn_Galaxy

galaxy has the honeyhive galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Honeyhive_Galaxy
galaxy 2 has the honeyhop galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Honeyhop_Galaxy

galaxy has the dustdune galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Dusty_Dune_Galaxy
galaxy 2 has the slipsand galaxy
http://www.mariowiki.com/Slipsand_Galaxy

ehy remember that cool bowser level in galaxy where the gravity shifts around?
http://www.mariowiki.com/Bowser%27s_Dark_Matter_Plant
GUESS WHAT?
http://www.mariowiki.com/Upside_Dizzy_Galaxy

galaxy has dino piranha
http://www.mariowiki.com/Dino_Piranha
galaxy 2 has peewee piranha
http://www.mariowiki.com/Peewee_Piranha

this guy appear in both game,in galaxy 2 he's hidden I WONDER WHY????
http://www.mariowiki.com/Bugaboom

galaxy has this giant flame squid that spew fireballs
http://www.mariowiki.com/King_Kaliente
what's one of the bosses in galaxy 2? IT'S A GIANT SQUID THAT SHOOTS FIREBALL IN A CHARIOT
http://www.mariowiki.com/Prince_Pikante

and this is even without mentioning that they ripped an entire level from mario 64,and half of the bosses from galaxy under the pretense of nostalgia by simply slapping the world throwback everywhere

so yea i can't understand how people can say there is less repetition when like 60% of the game has been ripped from the original

Magus nailed it. The level design's not as interesting either.

Good game, great game even. But it took me a month to beat it and get 120 stars when it took me about 2 days to beat Galaxy 1 and I got 120 soon afterward AND replayed it immediately after beating it. I just bothered to get one green star in Galaxy 2 and said fuck it.
