Flower is crazy pretty -- but why did all you guys get free codes? How...?

I'm playing Assassins Creed 2, and am stunned at its size and such compared to the original. I spent the first 2 hours thinking "more of the same" and then got to the new stuff. It will take a long while to finish this off.

I gave up on my DQ series playthrough. I cannot stomach playing these older games on emulators. There's too much incentive to just cheat, save state, and speed your way through. Maybe its just the old yucko graphics too.

I started DQ4 DS (my main reason for playing 1-3) and I'm instantly washed over and relaxed on how I can enjoy this game.

The Spike VGA thing had a contest where you pick what you think would win best Indie game and you'd be entered to win it.  Flower won.

I was using the SNES versions. Maybe if they ran good on the DS emulators I would play them before I went to bed. I really wasnt getting into playing it on my Wii.

Started playing PixelJunk Shooter.  Definitely PixelJunk's best game so far.  Not a tower defense fan and Eden got repetitive.  Good value for ten bucks.  Still looking to beat Punch-Out Wii and Etrian Odyssey 2 post game.

I haven't touched Flower since I beat it last Feburary or March or whenever the hell it came out but I really ended up liking it for whatever it was trying to be.  I wasn't initially sold on the first couple of levels but by the time the end rolled around I bought in on the concept.  Just a really nice one of a kind experience.

And around the same time Flower came out, Royksopp's album Junior was released with their song "Vision One" on it and since then I've always associated it with Flower.  The lyrics are amazingly spot on.  I really kind of want to make a video featuring the two together.

Playing a borrowed copy of Stuntman Ignition today. The game is pretty fun; the auto-reload makes initiating a re-do, which is pretty much constant, nearly painless. In as much as that, it's like Trials HD. It's not nearly as painful and exacting as that game, but it feels similar.

Started and finished Flower on PS3. I've paid more for movies that lasted about the same amount of time and were less enjoyable. The game is gorgeous and full of charm. I like the controls but am a little surprised they didn't go with full motion controls instead of including a stick. I also liked the playable credits but wished they'd ended them a bit earlier or been a bit more loose with them.

Though I've finished it, I'm clearly missing one big flowerpot in the middle of the selection screen desk, and I may have also screwed up the first "dark" level where you can get shocked and burned down to your base petal.

:bow :bow2

I dont think that flowerpot is ther bro. We tried to unlock it with all the testers last year but no banana.

Ah, OK, thanks for that. I'm guessing you had testers who found each of the three hidden flowers in all of the levels? That's the only thing I can guess would put a pot there.

Finished the third mission in Assassin's Creed.  I missed out on some of the investigations, though...can I go back and replay the assassination missions at some point in the game?
The Animus allows you to go back and replay any memory, which allows you to perform the missing actions and complete the sequence. That's what I ended up doing for several early missions, I think after I'd even finished the final mission.

Battlefield 1943 - I got the controls down, kind of.  I need to adjust to FPS controls.

Lumines Live - I loved the first one on PSP.  What happened here?

I got a Gamefly account so I have Bayonetta, L4D2, Borderlands, and Batman on queue.

Just a heads up but if you are new to Gamefly don't fill up your queue if you are trying to get the latest games. They will always send you the more available stuff (older) and never send you the latest stuff. You have to leave it empty except for the new stuff and they will eventually send you that.

I guess the game I'd get first is Batman, which is fine I guess and has high availability.

Indigo Prophecy.  Playing this killed any mild interest I had in Heavy Rain.  Holy shit the is writing intolerable.  Some ideas about actions affecting the story are interesting but it is soooo boring.  The QTEs don't even make sense here; I talked to this chinese guy and there was a QTE for saying hello...what.

I like Indigo Prophecy especially the early parts of the game, which supposedly is where Heavy Rain is taking more of its emphasis from rather than the later parts. We'll see. Certainly a niche title but I'm part of that niche.

Everything up to the autopsy and the office scene is pretty cool imho swaggaz.

yeah, those parts were interesting.  Occasionally there are other moments that seem cool too.  But then there is "I'M SCARED OF CLOSED SPACES...YEP, YOU'VE HEARD THE WORD BEFORE: 'CLAUSTROPHOBIC'" *press left/right for ten minutes while walking around slowly solving a simple puzzle*

by those parts I mean the diner and cleaning up the apartment, btw.

yeah, we'll see.  If the writing in Heavy Rain isn't so bad and there is more a feeling that the actions you take do impact the story, then I might rent it or something.

I view Heavy Rain the same way I view Culdcept Saga. Culdcept Saga is a game I absolutely love and is actually one of those very minor decisions that slightly impacts which system I might buy that its on. Its also very niche and specifically targeted towards a narrow audience. The only difference is that Heavy Rain is being treated by the media as if its not a niche title. Which is a bit unfortunate.

I havent gotten pass the office QTE yet.

I didn't think it was too bad.  Are you playing with a controller? I had WSAD and the arrow keys for that stuff and the QTEs have been mostly easy.

mouse movement actually gets annoying, and i won't spoil it, but one section was really hard because of it.  Even sweeping the blood in the diner was difficult with a mouse.

actually, the scenes where you have a limited amount of time to do something (there have been a few more of those) are really tense.  If Heavy Rain is a lot of that stuff, I'd be interested.

Indigo Prophecy isn't that bad; I overreacted a bit.  I've narrowed the problems down to unnecessary QTEs, internal monologues, Tyler, stealth sequences, QTEs that go on too long, bad writing, and Tyler.  Other than that it is passable.

Uncharted 2 just froze on me after the longest firefight in the game :(  Only PS3 freezes I have ever had were once in Uncharted 1 and now once in Uncharted 2.  Naughty Dog Engine breaks my PS3 :(

*edit: thank god it autosaved immediately after the fight ended so when I continued it was post-fight.  Yay.  Time to beat the game!  Been playing 6 hours straight and it's 2:30am lol.  Game is good.

Been playing Dragon Age lately. About 20 hours in, pretty decent game so far. I'd probably like it more if it didn't take me 16 hours to finally recruit a healer into the party. :-\ Trying to finish this before I get Bayonetta in a couple days... Don't think I'm gonna make it at this rate.

Also started up Patapon 2 tonight and played it for 3 hours straight. Awesome game, don't know why I waited so long to play it.

And finally I'm still playing Mushihime-sama Futari. Nearly made it to Larsa in 1.5 Original just now, which would have been a first for me. Been struggling to even make it to stage 5 over the last few days, but I just did it while being half asleep  :lol go figure... Nearly doubled my previous high score at least (got 160ish million now) and got a couple achievements out of it so I'm happy.

Stuntman Ignition is pretty neat, but I wish there was an official, no-stress "dry run" mode, because it feels unrealistic that the director is letting me go back and do stuff 20 times. This would be a series of catastrophically expensive mistakes if it were a real movie production.  :-\ Sadly, this game feels like it would have been a really nice rental, it's practically made for the rental crowd, which means no sales which means no sequel. If memory serves, THQ closed this studio and abandoned this IP. It's tragic, because this could have had some insane opportunities for furthering the license.

The Wipeout Fury pack is awesome, but I really don't like the new "wallpaper" in the menus. The clear white was a hell of a lot sexier. Anyway, now to get good at these tracks.

Also, this game fucking sucks online. Tried playing with my brother, and not only did the voice chat not work, but our friends only match was invaded by strangers. But then again, with the lack of bot support I guess that's for the best. Two-player Wipeout isn't that great.

I really enjoyed this, but you're right about the dry run. I don't even think you get an overhead map view beforehand to plan out your run.

It's the ultimate in infuriating trial and error, especially on some of the later ones. "HIT THE JUMP", yeah ok, but I can't fucking see it you dick.

I started playing Ratchet & Clank a Crack in Time and wow the graphics look terrible.  Man, Resistance 2 looked like shit but I didn't expect Ratchet to look weak as well.  Hopefully it's just the starting planet that looks bad.  The IU is pretty ugly too.  I think this might be my last Insomniac game for a while.  At least the platforming seems better this time around.

Finally 1CC'd Black Label Original with Reco in Mushi Futari. Thought I had a decent score (354m) until I looked at the leaderboards :lol :'( Guess I got some learnin' to do. Been spending most of my time playing 1.5 Original so hopefully a 1CC of that isn't too far behind.

Now I'm gonna try to marathon Dragon Age and finish that before Bayonetta arrives on Tuesday.
