i gave it a spin to wind waker again and i really wish i could step on the foot of the people who decided to create that goddamned forsaken fortress, and the whole collect 80 rupee to buy the sail, and staring at the sea while waiting around looking like the most bored guy ever...
i'm not sure how the heck i was able to finish the game the first time

maybe i should give majora another spin

I tried to play the latest Yugioh game for the DS, thinking that since I'm a Magic: The Gathering fan (and a big Card Fighters Clash fan) I'd find something to like, but godDAMN does that fucking game suck.

So now I'm waiting for Ragnarok DS to arrive.

because cardfighter clash was simple, straightforward, and easy to understand.

yugioh is fucking ridiculous. play the card horizontally or vertically! play from your main deck, or your second weird deck! this creature and this creature combine to make this creature, but ONLY if you have a certain card in your hand!

what the fuck? I was longing for the simplicity of M:tG.

(note: when I say "Cardfighters Clash" I mean the one for the Neo Geo Pocket - the one for the DS was a clusterfuck)

Finally finished 1000/10000 in Blood in the Sand.

Took us less than 3 hours to beat.

Being able to taunt during cutscenes is the shit. Hearing yayo yell FUCKING DIE PUSSY while 50 is talking to some bitch is awesome.

that game is good. "Wheres your boss bitch"

The ending is incredible:

I hope the Nintendo backing of this and Last Story gets them western releases. I'd think it was all but confirmed with Nintendos involvement. Here's hoping.

Sure.  It's not cutscene heavy, but what is there is interesting and so far there aren't any animu/generic characters.  It's fairly well written for what it is.

The only thing negative I'd say is that you can pretty much see most of the twists in the first half from a mile away because the main character has the ability to see the future and so he'll see clips of scenes from further in the game.  But him knowing what's coming and how he deals with it is also part of the plot so I'll let it fly.  I have NO clue what is going to happen after the halfway point though.

Actually the story kicked up a lot tonight.  Closer to a normal rpg like FF at this point.  Though you still can explore whenever and do 100s of sidequests and rare mob hunts.  The story is very Xenogears/Xenosaga/Soma Bringer.   All of Takahashi's games have pretty similar themes and styles.  I really dig his worldviews and epic lore, so I'm loving it.

If anyone's worried the game isn't going to give you the Xeno~ feel, these slightly spoilerish location pictures will get rid of those worries.

Damn that looks impressive. 3rd pic gives me the Great Crystal from FF12 vibes, kinda.
Of course I never played any Xeno games.

Borys, go play Xenogears now (on the PC emu with upscaled graphics of course)... it's a flawed game but extremely unique.

I dunno, I think borys would love Xenogears.  It's a huge adventure with good gameplay, awesome locations, and a crazy story.  Also great graphics+music.

The only reason some people don't like Xenogears is that it gets very dialogue heavy on the 2nd disc when they ran out of time and budget and had to recap a lot of events through dialogue that they couldn't afford to recreate.  And some people don't like Takahashi's plots, I guess.

Of course I never played any Xeno games.

I played a bit of Xenosaga 1.  It wasn't as horrible as Drinky made it out to be but the gameplay to cutscene ratio was horrendous.

Game will look a lot nicer if you play it through an emu and natively render it at 1080p, 60fps with AA :P

Yeah, I'm actually interested in playing this.  It looks more fun than most of the next-gen JRPGS.  JRPGS have been so weird this gen.  It's like JRPGS makers suddenly can't do interesting story or gameplay anymore because they're devoting all their efforts to making HD graphics, which generally don't even look that good.

I think I'll be able to jump on the handheld RPG train with 3DS since its graphics aren't shit like the DS.

duels of the planeswalkers got a steam release but to be fair it's quite disappointing, when i heard you could only play with pre-maded deck i didn't have any problem with it
what they don't tell you is that there is a great total of 11 decks,5 of them are monocolors and only have basic cards you would find in the basic sets, the other 6 are more colorfull but still make for an incredibly low and boring number (also on note,3 of those deck are from the expansion)

for the curious the multicolor one are
green/black elf deck
green/red warrior deck
blue/black artifact deck
blue/white mill deck
green/red/white naya
green/red/black jund

it's pretty clear that this game was done just to fish for potential buyer for the actual tcg,it doesn't even feature planeswalkers card which is weird considering the game is called "duels of the planeswalkers" and you see them everywhere plastered trough the game

I don't know if I'd recommend VC outside of the anime rpg fanbase.  The strategy gameplay is good but it's really surrounded by tons of anime stuff and the whole thing is very slowly and at times cumbersome.  I'm still about halfway through my playthrough (chapter 11 of 19, stopped to play Alpha Protocol and then Xenoblade) and I think it's a really good core strategy game that has a lot of unneeded junk.  I'm hoping VC2 makes a lot of interface improvements to make it even better.

Resonance of Fate on the other hand is an rpg for anyone who likes gameplay.  It's fast and to the point and is just 50-60 hours of great gameplay with enjoyable storytelling.  The arena is a grind though and not worth it.

duel masters for the gba is a really cool magic the gathering clone
but play the japanese version, the us one is made by a different company and the AI is dumber than a chicken, the interface is horrible and the game is just ugly as hell,it doesn't even have the art for the original cards

just use a list to see what each card does like this one
http://www.ccgdb.com/
and you are set

anyway i'm in the mood of an rpg but i really don't know what to pick, everything so familiar except the older dragon quest (like dragon quest 3) which i try to play and then put down frustated at the whole "here! waste 2 minute fighting 6 slime, bet you can't wait to repeat this in 30 seconds uh?" ordeal
it just feels like it move too slow

maybe final fantasy 9?

I've restarted Arcanum three times because I am so indecisive about which character I wanted to play.  I started out as a gnome thief, then an ogre warrior and now I'm an elf mage.  :-\

The game world is very unique and the voice acting (so far) isn't terrible!

Playing Final Fantasy XIII.  I'm at Chapter 3.  The biggest bitch I have about the game is that the game is oversimplified.  Simple Simon fighting strategies and upgrade system.  However the game is shiny and flashy enough for me to press on but I skip virtually every cutscene that I come across.  Vanille is nails-on-chalkboard annoying (the voice actress has some fantastic tits though) with the rest of the cast being the stereotypical JRPG personalities we've all come to know and love.  That isn't a huge problem but FFXIII just seems "off" as a game.  I'll keep playing and probably re-rent the game at a later date.

I 1000'd Tetris Evolution too. Decent Tetris game, I guess. I'd like to play one of the Tetris Grand Master games though, just to see what the best Tetris games are like.

For those of you who played Mirror's Edge, it says in the controls option that R1/RB turns your character 90/180 degrees, but when I press it I do a 180 turn and that's it. How do I do a 90 turn?

Probably an error.  There's only a 180 turn in the PC game and the tutorial never mentions a 90 turn.

Just started playing Mirror's Edge, whoever called it best (and only?) first person platformer was right on the money. Great game: frustrating at your first attempt at any level, fun on subsequent tries, wicked trial mode, and finally the free Pure DLC :drool.

wait wtf?  how is the dlc free?  please do not say pc version

i started replaying brave fencer musashi because i remember it being good but it's even better than what i remembered! i don't know what's sadder, the fact that square-enix once made game like this or that action rpg in this vein are completly forgotten yet as soon as nintendo announce a new zelda everybody is already on the wagon,no matter what

ugh i tried to play this a year ago.  i loved it back when it came out, but now it just feels really slow and easy.  and the day/night cycle was really annoying and forced you to wait around way too much.  decent game but i think it gets remembered  with a little more fondness than it deservers, kinda like parasite eve
