62 hours now.  Good stuff.  Hope I can finish it by next weekend.  Figuring I should clear it around 100 hours and then dunno how much longer for endgame optional stuff.  There's like lvl.90+ dudes and hidden areas in every location from the very start of the game.  Endgame should be glorious.

ugh i tried to play this a year ago.  i loved it back when it came out, but now it just feels really slow and easy.  and the day/night cycle was really annoying and forced you to wait around way too much.  decent game but i think it gets remembered  with a little more fondness than it deservers, kinda like parasite eve

i don't really have a problem with waiting around, you just take a nap on the spot and time goes super fast!

anyway call me a wussy but the final bit of brave fencer musashi is more tougher and annoying than i remember,i don't think i'll bother to finish it so maybe i'll jump to another game... maybe i should do an opinion threads...

I haven't heard someone mention Granstream Saga in a long time.  I remember loving that game when I was younger, but on a replay several years later my nostalgic memories were crushed. :'(

Just finished my second playthrough of Nier. The additional story sequences are really well done; well worth playing through the game again (and you can plow through it because of how powerful you are).

Hard mode is really really tedious, I switched back to Normal half way through. Not because it's too hard, but because the enemies take forever to die. I fought a miniboss at the end of one sidequest that took no less than 30 minutes to kill. On normal it takes 2 minutes tops. Maybe hard mode is meant for when you are maxed out or something, but for now it's just a waste of time. The sidequests are pretty bad too, but it depends on which ones you take. You can do fetchquests that will have you going back and forth from one location to another, or you can do quests that send you into dungeons to farm 30 rare drops. They both suck, but the fetchquests are far less annoying so I stuck with them. The little stories associated with them can be pretty decent too, so it's not all bad.

But still, Nier is a great game, and easily one of my favorite RPGs this gen. I just wish the combat wasn't so simplistic, but it's still fun so whatever.

That reminds me, I think the 12 months between December 2009-November 2010 is probably the best year of rpgs since gaming started.  I mean look at all the high rated or big name rpgs released globally, Nier,  RoF, FFXIII, Mass Effect 2, Fallout NV, AP ,KH BBS, Tales of Graces, Xenoblade, The Last Ranker and that's not counting any ports/remakes.  Good time to be an rpg fan.

I'm hoping Nier is as good as people make it out to be.  For some reason Gamestop sent me a $20 off coupon and iconoclast's post reminded me of it, plus it was only $50 on their site, so why not.

and just to make sure, both versions of the game are the same, right? wasn't there something about the PS3 version was different in Japan? not Bayonetta different, but you played as a different character entirely? either way, I ordered the PS3 version.

yeah, stalker is one of the few games that is truly unsettling.  Can't think of many times in games where I see a mutant down the road and take the long way to avoid it.

Both versions in the US are the same. In the Japanese PS3 version, you play as the girl's brother, and in every other version, you play as her father. The father fits the story better imo.

Nier is great, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to everyone. It's just one of those games that you're either going to love or hate, I think.

Tried to get Xenoblade running on the Wii emu.  It runs pretty well and look amazing, but I was having sound issues with scratchy sound and sound stuttering + v-sync wouldn't work.  So it was unplayable >_<
But wow, one day when Wii games run 100% perfect, they will look GOOD.  They hold up very, very well in emu

It's pretty night and day, but the audio on the emu for XB is real busted junk atm.  Everything sounds like a fried 28kbps mp3 and the sound likes to stutter all the time.
Eventually if they fix that, then emu >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> wii

there were rumors I think, but I still wanted them to show it.  as far as potential games for the Move go, this is one that would get me interested in the thing.

also, because of the Steam sale for the Deus Ex games, I got Invisible War and am going to try and finish it this time.

Wii emu is still way behind PS2's.  I tried the new Silent Hill on it and it wasn't really playable.  Image quality is nice but performance is poo.  The framerate is passable but there's a ton of bugs like the menu not being displayed properly.  Also, I didn't bother configuring the Wiimote to work with the PC and waggle emulation with KB/M or 360 controller is garbage.

I haven't been able to get much out PS2 games in emulation, aside from a few less graphically intensive games. Most of the time the framerate is way too low to be playable.

I've tried MGS3:subsistence, DMC3:SE, and VF4.  I think VF4 was the only one that ran slowly although Fraps was reading it as 60 FPS.  MGS3:sub ran really well but the audio is out of sync so I just gave up.  DMC3 also runs well but it looks terrible even in higher resolutions.  It's just one of those 3D games that doesn't look as good as you remember.  Overall, the emulator seemed to running quite well and it probably would have worked even better if I had spent some time tweaking it.  I'm just too lazy to mess around with the obtuse UI and plug-ins.

yeah smooth groove, the feeling I get is the PS2 and Wii emu's produce fantastic looking pq upgrade, but they are still very janky and whether they are playable is a game to game basis.

Hoping that in another 5 years we'll finally have perfect PS2/Wii/GC...Xbox(?) emulators because that generation really has the biggest and best selection of console games and besides the graphics most hold up great.  My PS2 backlog is still the 2nd biggest behind my PC one and I played the hell out of the PS2!  There were just too many good games to even try to keep up with.

At least PS1/SNES/NES emu is perfect these days.  That way you can experience 3 generations of great console games on your pc.

I bought Resonance of Fate last night and now I'm 5 hours into the game. Whoever said it's better than FF13 lied. Also, some dialog lines were worse than moms are tough. Something, something, smiles, flowers, and shit.

I chose the JP voices because the ENG are worse, something that made this game play like a terrible anime with an emo protagonist. Hope totally vindicated.

Don't play in JP.  A lot of the story/character development is in the talk during during dungeons and they didn't translate it on the JP track.
