What are you talking about? I'm pretty open.
You were incredibly closed minded when hearing about Red Dead Redemption, didn't believe a word any of us were saying, and then you tried it and finally realized we were right all along.
:whereisthesmugicon
:ohhereitis
:smug

I wasn't close-minded, just not sold that they'd be able to put it off. The fact that I even bought RDR shows I wasn't close-minded in regards to it and the only reason I bought it WAS because I believed you lot.

It's just that we kept saying how great it is, and how it blew GTA4 out of the water, and you kept coming back with suppositions that it was Grand Theft Horse, and was doomed to be as boring as GTA4. It felt to me like you were just posting and not even reading what people were saying.

you know the thing that i like about saints row is that it appeal to my inner rpg cigarillo in that it keeps giving me a lot of reward for anything i do,i surfed on a car just because of an achievement and behold! now i can wear a traffic cone as an hat

anyway there are a few thing i don't understand

1) is there a way to permanently keep a vehicle inside my garage? from what i understand the vehicle is lost if i remove it and then just leave it around,i unlocked an helicopter through a mission which i seems to understand that means i can now use infinite helicopters... is it supposed to be the same for cars?

2) should i spend my money to increase style? i've been keeping it around for buying properties (so i can make more money) but i can't help wonder if i'm having thing go to waste... should i find that "let's pretend" shop?

anyway the game froze on me after clearing a mission and now i have to clear it again >:(

Er...in SR, your vehicles are always permanent. Just go to the big key, select a vehicle, and take it out. Even if you destroy it, it'll respawn in your garage good as new.

Increasing style means more respect, so go for it.

well then what's the point of having multiple vehicles of a kind? colors?

what happens when i put in so many vehicles to fill up the thing? if the thing doesn't fill up what if i want to remove one?

and also what would be the quickest way to increase style? buying the same pair of glasses in a shop is kinda boring

You can remove or add any vehicle and to my knowledge you can't fill it up. The point of adding vehicles is customization and also because simply defeating a gang allots you their entire vehicle set. Saints Row is about letting you have fun with the toys, not impeding on your progress.

Increasing style? Just go to a store and buy whatever you want. Go to the map and toggle the Stores option. Tons of stores, including the mall.

whelp i finished the samedi missions

you know the side activity are all different and cool but the actual game is just so standard "GO KILL 3 DRUG DEALER!" "BLOW UP 4 LABS"

anyway i started doing some assasination mission but i'm having trouble finding where i'm supposed to go on the map... like there is one guy that's supposed to be on a location called baudi but i have no idea how i'm supposed to find it

Aside from Stronghold missions, every single story mission is different.

If it's the night club guy go to Veteran Child's club when it's packed. If you see him he'll start shooting.

yes it's the night club guy

but anyway it's true that they are not all completly identical but they are still too similiar, there is one mission where you have to rescue shadi and you do so by killing every gang member you see then the next mission you have to protect the truck and you do so by killing every enemy

then i played another ronin mission and i had to place some bombs in an hotel.... while murdering every gang member i could see.....

compare that to side activity where there is like racing and explosions, that fraud minigame that plays like that pain game from the ps3,the demolition derby, those cop mission where they give you tons of cool gadget weapons, and the difference is like day and night

That is pretty true. That said, I find the variety in even the story missions to be varied compared to the competition.

SR3 will spice things up, I think. If you haven't seen the walkthrough, watch it here:

It's just a small part of the story. All you need to know is that guy always ends up with a washed up gang. He was in Saints Row 1 and you kicked his gang's ass, and now he's in Saints Row 2, with another crappy gang :lol

I'm hoping he's in Saints Row The Third, and he ends up freaking the fuck out :lol

The only thing I don't like about Just Cause 2 is how every enemy in the game is using aimbot. It makes causing a lot of chaos tedious at times, when it should be really fun.

Finished up most of Plants and Zombies. Lots of content. Amazing game for me. Might have been my game of the year in retrospect based on value for money for whatever year it came out on. The fact that it isn't that difficult isn't an issue for me. I'm not really looking for difficulty in that sort of experience. Just a fun grind. I constantly wanted to see the next thing and the next new zombie or the next new plant, or the next new venue, etc. And then once you beat the main adventure there is a lot of fun little extra minigames and stuff. Pop Cap is amazing to me.

The Activities and Diversions are really where Saints Row 2 shines. Playing them in co-op is even more fun.

But more to the point, do you play many videogames where the goal is not to take out a lot of enemies? I'm pretty sure that most FPS, RPG, brawlers, fighting games, shmups, and in general most genres have a lot of "destroy these enemies" as the main goal of most missions. Is it safe to assume you mainly play racing, music, and puzzle games?

Hey. Don't complain about playing a sequel and then not understanding one of the in-jokes, or a tiny plot point. Sheesh.

well yes but i still think the game doesn't do a good job at mixing it up,like for example once in a while there is a cool mission like the last samedi one is fun,why we can't have more missions like that and less "kill everybody"?

oh i wasn't really complaining,it's just that since the plot of the previous game seems so prominent when it comes to brotherhood mission it just bothered me a little that's all

whelp i'm done with the ronin's,reward isn't even half as cool as the bulldog >:(

i think i'll dick around with the side activities for a while,i already got reduced damage from bullets and triple health regeneration which are really usefull, but i wouldn't mind some extra stuff especialy if i can find a way to have more infinite ammo (infinite gun ammo is a godsend)

the translation of this game hasn't been bad but there is one thing that's really really stupid,on the assasin profile the target location is translated but on the game map is not,one target said to go to the port so i went to the south part of the map but then after switching language it turned out the target was on "marina" which is the north district >:(

Localization is really a problem; most times the translators don't even play the game, in my experience. But for what it's worth, a lot of native English speakers playing the English version of the game had the same problem.

I can't even remember what Vandalism side mission is. Mayhem? Are you breaking a lot of stuff?

You can get the Bear, and even trick it out in Saints barding:
spoiler (click to show/hide)

However, IIRC you can't drive and shoot at the same time. The gunner's seat can be occupied by a co-op partner, or maybe even a gang subordinate.

MGS4 - is the hate this game gets coming from shitty cutscenes and story? Cause the gameplay mechanics are 10/10 in it. Stealthy kills, camo, Mk. II drone - all around a perfect MGS game coming from the demo. Gotta buy the full game now.

I am a huge Metal Gear head.

I have completed every MGS on every difficulty, with the exception of MGS2 European Extreme. Gotten all dogtags, all frogs, no kill runs, no alerts runs, speed runs, you name it.

I have played every single game with Metal Gear on the cover.

Now, I enjoy Metal Gear stories. Metal Gear stories are great purely because they are fucking hilarious with a great cast of characters. I LIKE when the villains give their life story before they keel over in one massive pile of slopping carcass.

That being said, Metal Gear Solid 4 is among the worst games I've played this generation. Metal Gear Solid games have always had a lopsided game:cutscene ratio, but the real joy of a Metal Gear game is never - EVER - from the first run. Only shmucks who don't know Metal Gear complain about the first run and the cutscenes. Whenever you replay a MGS game, it's always skip cutscene town. With that being said, most if not all MGS games have enough content going for them even if you skip cutscenes. You're rewarded with a full game.

MGS4 game:cutscene ratio, however. Completely ruined the game. There is barely any gameplay at all in Chapter 3-5. The first two chapters are classic Metal Gear, even if most of the cutscenes are horrible. But from Act 3 and up, it becomes a schizophrenic palooza of a myriad of gameplay styles. This is nothing new to MGS, but you always had stealth in between. After chapter 3's initial stealth area, there are only two more stealth areas the rest of the entire game.

I didn't want to imagine how bad MGS4 was, but it really was. Have "fun". It remains the only Metal Gear I have no replayed. I've considered it, I've even tried it, and the cutscene ratio just ruins it. Especially since in every chapter you have to install the game. Furthermore, you end up in a new location after the beginning of every chapter, so it ruins the focus that MGS1-3 had. I can't do a speed run playing this. I just can't.

DQ9 is fantastic, I really like it. It has its detractors but for the most part I think it's among the best in the series despite its flaws.

DQ6, haven't played, but Oscar isn't too big on it, if only because it's a shoddy remake for DQ. That being said, it's the first time it's in English. I'd say go for it.

bah they are both kinda lame "go defeat the demon lord" down-to-the-earth okayish rpg that features some grind heavy job system

personaly i like DQ9 more, the scenario is more fun,the job system more rewarding in it's grindiness and it just looks like more of a modern game (visible encounters! visible equipments! actual animations!)

DQ9 has a shitload of optional content but it's presented in a very grindy "we totaly don't want you to sell the game to another guy" way

oh.....

uhm, well there is a job system,it has a pretty linear single storyline as opposed to the multiple of DQ4,it use the whole 2 world gimmicks that zelda love to use,it still uses the same sprites of the two previous remake and it's encounter rate is high enough to make a tibetan monk lose his patience

don't know what else to say about it

MGS4 is awful and I think every other MGS game is fucking great (although 2 and Portable Ops are weaker than the others).

The first 2 acts of MGS4 are great, but most of the stuff after sucks and the story was nothing short of disastrous.

Also, vignettes are my favorite parts of DQ's. Really like 8's vignettes.

Oh, and the encounter rate isn't *that* bad.  Magoose is occasionally distinguished mentally-challenged; this appears to be one of those times.

well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess

anyway i got the bear and it's not true that you can't drive and shoot at the same time
still i'm not sure i want to use it instead of the bulldog, the damage it does seems to same but it moves around way more slow

maybe i should get one of those copter with the missiles? heck can you even get one?

if you have trouble finding any guys for Hitman, go to youtube or enter the spot in google

You get the attack helicopter when you beat the game, but I heard it's possible to steal one.

@magus: I've played DQ games before, I know what to expect, especially from 9. However, I'm more interested in knowing how 6 stacks up to the previous two DS remakes. I liked 4, and loved 5.

DQ6 is no DQ5.  I actually don't have much of a beef with the remake, I think Himu's confusing me with Aeana.  It's a weak remake as the series goes, but it's not lesser than the original, generally speaking.  Uhh, anyway, DQ6... it's by a good chunk longer than the other two remakes, it has a job system that is the prototype for 7's (and better imo because there is a lot less useless crap), the story is very very vignette focused, quite unlike DQ5 in that way.  Of the Zenithian Trilogy, it's my least favourite, but it's still good.

I'd say it's worth full price.  DQ is like pie, there's no actual bad ones.  Except DQ2.  Fuck that game.

Oh, and the encounter rate isn't *that* bad.  Magoose is occasionally distinguished mentally-challenged; this appears to be one of those times.

The encounter rate in the remake is much higher than the original, but there are some skills you can get to mitigate it somewhat. I am gonna hopefully finish DQ6 within the week, then I will have all the DQs under my belt! (still need to do the optional shit in a lot of games, most notably 4 and 8 though).

You can't really go wrong with any DQ game apart from 2:

1 - extremely basic and primitive, but it can be fun
2 - waaaaay too grindy, lacks direction in a lot of points
3 - one of the most beloved of the series, very long and involving quest
4 - split scenario system was really cool, DS version suffers from an overdone translation though
5 - best game in the series IMO, great storyline that spans the life of the lead character
6 - some excellent vignettes and an absolutely massive world, one of the more challenging games in the series
7 - the longest game ever, but the vignettes are the best in the series, one of my favorites
8 - great characters, lovely graphics and beautiful 3D world, one of my favorites
9 - the extraneous online stuff, grindy quests, and lack of characterization hurt it, but it's not a bad game... just far from my favorite in the series

What's wrong with 2? I like DQ2 SNES and GBC.

Still addicted to Football Manager.

Played a whole lota PS3 demos during past 2 weeks:

flower - the only indie game I will ever like. Pretty relaxing but why would I buy the full version of it?
Folklore - oh my god... AMAZING game. I have two different demos and the second one with the WWII level is simply great. An absolutely fresh take on God of War clones, loved it. Impeccable art design. Weeaboos like me should be crying from joy. Too bad the company behind this and Majin went out of business :(

I offered to gameshare Flower to you before and yeah Folklore is awesome you should get the full game

Remember Borys, I'm the person who suggested Folklore. It's by no means perfect, but still real good.
