I'm eager to play GoW Ghost of Sparta on the GoW Origins Collection.  Almost glad that Castlevania soured me on that style of game; now I can play it on the PS3 instead of PSP.

Blood Stone... is that the one that's super cheap all over the place now? I thought about grabbing that because, well, "Bond, James Bond" mang. :hyper

yeah, it's $10 at gamestop, as is the Goldeneye game on Wii.

I liked the Goldeneye Wii game quite a bit (it's actually getting an enhanced port to the 360/PS3 later this year) and it's definitely better than Blood Stone.  Blood Stone isn't so much bad as it is too decent.  It's an alright third person shooter with basic stealth and driving sequences.  It tries to be like Everything or Nothing where it's like you're playing through a Bond movie, and it sort of succeeds, but it doesn't really standout against other third person shooters.  For the most part it's just unremarkable.

Melee is the one thing that sets it apart.  It's not so different from how other games do melee, but the presentation of Bond pummeling bad guys is really satisfying.

The story and everything is weird and takes a lot of cues from Casino Royale and feels less original than Goldeneye, which was just a modernized take on the 90s film.  Even the intro to Blood Stone is the Casino Royale intro, with diamonds replacing the card motif.

Thanks for the review. I will have to grab it. I played quite a bit of Everything or Nothing, and enjoyed all the third-person stuff, but thought the driving sequences were horribly unbalanced compared to what was required during the equivalent progression in the third-person sequences.

and... i'm done with jin too,got a lot of achievements for finishing it i'm trying to work the quiz out but damn this has to rank pretty high into my list of "most annoying bullshit i have done for achievements" why they heck they put so many question about ancient chinese history? do they really think anybody gives a shit about how long the beard of someone who lived a million years ago was?

one funny thing is that i tried to get the 50-hit combo achievement for quite a while, today i was just playing with the bow, hitting people at random and *BAM* 63-hit without even realizing it :lol

oh and while playing conquest mode i unlocked lu bu which is awesome, though i think i'll stick to xiahou dun

They have quizzes because RotK story takes place in ancient China. A lot of DW fans, thus, have an interest in Ancient China, particularly the Three Kingdoms era. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of China's premiere pieces of literature and it's a classic and it's really popular. The quizzes are only there to service the fans of the stories.

Honestly though, I've read RoTK cover to cover and I had to use a guide for a lot of those questions.

You like Xiahou Dun? Meh. He's alright. I forgot who I mained when I had the ps3 version. I need to finish story mode on 360 version so I can go back to conquest mode.

Man, some of the character questions are hilarious. Bolded are the right answers:

How to bond with Lu Bu:
-I like your little headpiece thing.
-To be honest, you frighten me

How to bond with Zhang Liao:
-I think your hat suits you very well.
-To be honest, you frighten me

How to bond with Diao Chan:
 -I think you are beautiful
-I think you are terrifying

Oh right, Zhou Yu is my favorite:

Stopped playing Crysis 1 during the underwater alien structure section. Didn't care for it.

Finished Warhead. Didn't care for it.

Finished Crysis 2. Didn't care for it.

You like Xiahou Dun? Meh. He's alright

the character are all the same beside the ex attack and the musou attack, both his musou attack and ex attack have awesome range and that's all it counts,i hate those character that have grab musou i always end up missing in the chaos >:(

ultimately there are a lot of character that have wide musou's but since he's the first one i got,his stat have gotten bigger than the other character so he has become the guy i mostly use

oh and i mashed the A button like crazy and after half an hour i had the quizmaster achievement! yay for answering question at random!

if i had to pick a character based on "the character" and not "how he play" i would pick the sickly jin dude just because gunning down samurai's is awesome :bow

that's the biggest issue with DW7: the movelists. Weapons have unique move lists, not characters.

Played some games at Otakon:

-Child of Eden with Kinect - man, Kinect sucks. Didn't feel accurate at all, give me a controller instead.
-Deathsmiles 2X - don't like the low budget polygonal look at all in the game.
-Akai Katana - was excellent. Beautiful graphics, gameplay very reminiscent of Progear... it just has that "feel" to it like all the best Cave games do.
-KoF XIII - so much better than that last abomination. I actually won the first round of the 64-man tournament we had at the festival. My friend then proceeded to win about 30 games in a row (after losing in the first round of the tournament) by killing it with Benimaru. A decent-sized roster, lots of awesome and lively backgrounds, I can't wait til this comes out.
-Catherine - skipped the VN portions to try out the puzzle scenes. Pretty fun, reminds me a bit of Solomon's Key and classic puzzle-platforming games from a bygone era. Really want to get this game.
-Twinkle Star Sprites - I own the game on PS2, but was playing against some kids who schooled me, great genre-mashup with extra moe.

On the train ride there, I played more Radiant Historia. Just made it to the 3rd chapter and it looks like the plot is starting to really pick up. Too bad the combat is a bit slow-paced and battles take a while.

Akai Katana is superb, but it only resembles Progear on a superficial level. It's kinda hard to compare it to something, but I'd say Espgaluda is the closest thing due to the button the toggles different forms. It's still not an accurate comparison though; pretty much all of Cave's games are wildly different from each other.

Hopefully it gets released in the west. Death Smiles 2 has grown on me a lot lately, but I still think AK is the best game to come out of Cave since 2007-2008 (when MMP, Futari, and Death Smiles 1 were released basically).

got all 90 jiggies in Banjo Tooie, and 200/200, for the Banjo completion trifecta (I've got 200/200 in Banjo Kazooie, and 1250/1250 in Nuts and Bolts also). Man, I marathoned the shit out of that franchise.

Not sure what I'm gonna play next.

Need to mop up Mafia 2 and Dead Rising 2, as well as getting round to finishing Shadows of the Damned and Tales of Vesperia (I have been playing the game on and off since 2009  :()

Although the sack 'o games me and quietID ordered should be arriving any day now. Might pull a late one tonight working on these games

Playing Devil Survivor 2 and it reminds me of magus and how he was right when he said Atlus re-uses the same archetypes over and over lately.  P3/P4/Devil Survivor 1/2 you have SILENT GUY, HIS COWARDLY/COMIC SIDEKICK GUY and GIRL WITH BOOBS WHO HANGS OUT WITH THEM AND FREAKS.  I mean the stories are still great and the characters are nicely developed but DDS wasn't this same setup; Raidou wasn't this setup; SMT obviously isn't.  It does seem like a growing trend with their recent stuff.

Anyhow, DS2 is pretty cool.  It's the most "anime" they've taken their games yet.  Even further than the Persona series.  If it wasn't for the horrible death, good art and good writing you'd almost think it could be a Wild Arms game.

The 2010 series has the best rendition of Liu Bei I've ever seen. He's not holier than thou, and the show doesn't even promote Shu as the main characters or "good guys" like has been painted before. The first 20 or so episodes, hell you'd think Cao Cao was the main character. They don't really even villianize Cao Cao or Wei either. They're just seen as a different force using different methods.

Similarly, on to Liu Bei, he's never preachy. He just comes off as wise but he's never EVER not ambitious. He's the yin to Cao Cao's yang.

For the record, the show isn't finished subbing but you should give it a shot. The first few episodes are slow, but it picks up once Dong Zhuo is assassinated.

Started playing the latest 3D Castlevania, had it on the shelf since last year.  The locations are real purty, with oddly when the music kicks in I get a real LOTR vibe.

I've played about 8 levels and it's awesome so far.  Not really what I was expecting from a Castlevania game, but I love it.

i don't like puzzle games and i don't like (most) atlus games,no way i'm touching something that it's a combination of the two

besides the thing is probably not region free so i couldn't play it even if i wanted, the joy of being european! OH NINTENDO OF AMERICA! Y U NO BRING XENOBLADE HERE! EUROPE HAS ALL THE LUCK!

edit: oh apparently there is a pal version of the williams collection, wikipedia just didn't put the info in it... (and it also got released two months ago as opposed to two years ago!) i got the psp version as a quickie substitute but now i'm not sure i want the 360 versions anymore... i like it (the funhouse table reminds me a lot of the party land table in pinball dreams... are they related?) but the thing is very confusing,it seems like i can't do shit unless i watch one of those instructional video but those instructional video takes forever and barely gives me an idea of what i'm supposed to do in the first place,at the same time i guess the fault of this is that i'm playing it on PSP tiny screen instead of a proper screen

it depends on the way you are running your games, with the way i'm using,i'm binded by regional locks

anyway i finished every character battle which got me another credits variation and while i was there i cleared every "alliance" battle netting me 4 other achievement

and i'm still missing like around 40 stages, why the heck they had to put so many stages when they are all the freaking same i say! >:(

Played Ketsui for the first time in a month or two. I'm going to start working on the tsuujou loop, so from now on I'll be trying to clear it without using bombs. I just perfected the first 3 stages, which kinda surprised since I was remembering things as I went along, but I got absolutely murdered on stage 4. That stage is really rough if you don't know exactly where all of the stealth bombers are coming in from, since you need to kill them immediately or you'll probably get cornered by a wall of bullets. Gonna have to set up some save states and rememorize all of that junk. I still won't be playing it too often though, just a credit or two here and there.

Still the best game ever... or maybe Futari edges it out.

why medieval madness is an exclusive of the 360/PS3 version? that's like the best table i've played so far ever, fuck gorgar and pinbot!

do they really hate poor people that much? :(

EDIT: mmm,the collections is a lot of fun and the objectives give a purpouse to what are usualy just score game,i was able to complete all the basic objectives in 7 table (GORGAR,black knight, pin bot, medieval madness, funhouse, firepower, space shuttle) and the williams challenge mode (got 185 point,i barely made it out of the last table, the requirement was 8 millions and i ended up with around 8.100.000 points!)

but i wish there were modern tables like medieval madness and less things with the sound effect from the atari like GORGAR! my finger also hurts like crazy

the black knight table is really easy,it's the only one where i almost have all the wizard objectives too

is there a way for a player to play without unlocking objectives? i would like other people to play with my save where every table is unlocked yet at the same time i don't want other people unlock objectives... maybe i can copy the save to a different profile?

you could i suppose copy a save, or just make an offline profile and sign in with that. not an issue.

i thought all tables were unlocked from the start? just make a new profile, unlock the tables, and make them use that.

Started playing some MvC3 again. I switched my team to Wolverine/Wesker/Akuma, since they're all fun to play and they're all good characters. I lost most of my games though - the people who are still playing know what they're doing for the most part, so it's been hard learning two new characters (I played Wesker previously).

I just hope they improve the netcode in UMvC3. Game's laggy as hell online. And nerf Tron assist. :maf

I never understood the appeal of pinball. I guess because it was before my time. I played pinball in the 'cades at times but I've never played one that actually stuck with me. They all seem like the same shit to me.

Learn the scoring systems?

I can kind of see someone being anti-pinball if they played the most boring table and just concentrated on not losing the ball, plain pinball is just ok.  But when each table has all kinds of interesting mechanics and you actually make the effort to learn them it gets SO GOOD.

That's why Williams Collection rocks, it makes you learn the mechanics of all the tables.

Haven't played any pinball games in a while, but I'd always get hooked on them. So addictive.

Was never that great at pinball, but Medieval Madness is the dog's bollocks...

Game-wise I always loved Revenge of the Gator, the Crush series, Pokemon Pinball, Metroid Prime Pinball and Time Cruise.
