could they have made duke nukem forever any more terrible?  the tiny health bar is bad enough but the whole game feels like the most boring fps released in 2002.  walk into room, kill braindead enemies, repeat 6000 times.  oh but hey we threw in some TURRETS for variety!  this is unplayable.

Going to relax tonight and play some Devil Survivor 2 and Undead Redemption now that I have my x360/ps3 hooked up.  Might play a little more Hot Pursuit as well; I just got to the part in the racer career where they unlocked the turbo so game is going to get even FASTER omgg (will probably just crash more :lol).

Since I don't expect to have any power this weekend I'm just gonna play Radiant Historia til my DS dies. Great game.

Started working on God Mode today in Futari Black Label. Got 1,650,390,681 with Reco, up to the beginning of stage 5 (the lanterns are very dangerous in God/Ultra :maf). Kinda crappy score in the grand scheme of things, but it's not too bad for 1 day worth of effort, I think. I guess I'll be aiming for 3+ billion for now.

God Mode is amazing though. If you combined 1.5 Original, 1.5 Maniac, and BL God Mode into a single game, it'd be immaculate.

Finished Arkham Asylum. That was a good game. Only a couple places were particularly difficult, but mainly 'cos I button-mashed my way through the first 1/2 of the game's combat stages. Once I found out the combo stuff, it became more challenging; which only makes it more batman-like: I felt compelled not just to win, but to win flawlessly. These guys really made a great game.

I'd like to see if they can crack the Superman challenge, since apparently no-one has ever made a good Superman game.

i started playing the williams collection again and after 30 minutes i had all the goals for whirlwind (i still think that getting the last basic goal is harder than the other wizard goal) after that... i didn't have much progress, taxi still refuses to cough up the special, pinbot is still an incredibly boring table and i have a hard time finishing even one of the task in medieval madness, let alone all of them for the "fight for the kingdom" bonus

so basicaly the only tables i'm missing are

Taxi
Pinbot
Sorcerer
Medieval Madness

yeah.  I like how there are two distinct styles of spider-man games for linear and open world design.  it's almost an either/or situation where the open world games feel broken in closed off environments, but it captures more of the character's abilities.  when neversoft or beenox want to make a more linear game, they tone down his agility to make it manageable, but there are no sections where you can just swing around in the city.

Superman, Iron Man, Green Lantern, etc. and pretty much any character that can fly would be hard.  I tried the demos for the Iron Man games and both were basically a worse version of Gun Metal.

I liked it too! I have the DS and 360 versions of it.  I'll hold off for the PC version of Edge of Time this time.

I like most console spider-man games released after the PS1 game, excluding Spider-Man 3.  That was bad.  Only the web launcher spots were fun.

not sure, but Shattered Dimensions was released on PC awhile after the other versions.  there were no announcements or anything for it.  don't think it's on steam either.

something about Edge of Time is the voice actor mix up from Shattered Dimensions. The guys from 90s Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man are back in different roles.  Guy who voiced Noir is now voicing 2099, and Ultimate is now Amazing.  Not bad, but I liked Dan Gilvezan  :'(

Do you get a guaranteed Special if you pick up all of the customers and drop them off a bunch of times? I think that's how I did it as well, but it's been a while so I don't really remember. What I do remember is spending hours trying to get the special through the random chance thing, and it was horrible. Fuck that table.

if you get the jackpot twice with a single ball, one of the outlane's lits,if a ball drain from that outline you get the special,i abused the shit out of the easy multiball mode

i went for a spin of medieval madness and destroyed 4 castles, and got joust, damsel and troll done... shame i wasn't able to get to battle for the kingdom but it was my best try at the table so far,got around 100 millions, activated royal madness twice... i was even able to clear the video mode which is really really annoying to trigger

the rule of thumb for superhero games is that the more powerful and mobile the hero is, the more difficult it is to make a good game of them

i doubt rocksteady's got a solution to the fundamental superman problem anymore than anyone else does

Yeah, that's easy to visualize.

Much like the idea of making a Superman movie around Lois and Jimmy, having Superman come in only during the climax, ut having him as a constant presence in the game, I've heard the same solution applied to a game design. It could easily be fun, but marketing would never let it happen.

I've not played HULK: ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION, but even the Sega game based on the Ed Norton, Jr. movie, which ripped off H:UD both mercilessly and half-assedly, was pretty fun. Ultimate Spider-Man was also great, though the combat was mashy.

Played some more God Mode today, got a new score: 1,993,361,514. I can hit 2.5 billion with my current strategies, but 3 billion might take some work.

Game's so intense. There's nothing more satisfying than squeezing through a cloud of bullets by a mere pixel and then canceling all of them into flashing gold 30,000x multipliers. Game of the forever.

Tried to play Cocoreccho, free from the "Games to apologize for the network outage, which you would never have bought anyway!" deal from Sony Japan.

There is a lot of explanation-fail.

Trying to lure the "korokoro" to jump onto a platform, mega-fail. Trying to get them knocked up onto other sleeping korokoro... wait, that came out wrong. Anyway, the game is pretty, but not much fun.

Geez, seems like a theme as of late.

Prince of Persia 2008, still. I'm on the final boss of the four repetitive ones. I am finding that I don't much mind the same four fights, and I am enjoying the game more as it goes on. It is what it is, and I don't like it as much as last-gen's "less accessible" Prince of Persia. I'm even beginning to enjoy the banter between the Prince and Elika.

Clearly, Stockholm Syndrome is beginning.

I bought PoP: the Forgotten Sands, and am hoping it's a little more true to last-gen's experience. But I think I'm going to go finish a different sandbox game after this. Maybe Red Faction Guerrilla or Mafia II.

I give props to EA for having at least one good idea with their Superman Returns game - it is an awfully good idea to give Metropolis a life bar instead of Superman.

That's pretty clever. How bad is the rest of the game?

How was that Accolade game, based on the comic? Xbox 1, IIRC?

to make a good superman game they'd have to base it on the 1938 version of the character, who could still be hurt and couldn't really fly so much as jump to the tops of buildings, and who also had no qualms about tossing criminals off the tops of said buildings

so basically crackdown without the guns

Devil Survivor 2 is like "haha, you aren't using a guide?  Continually bad story paths for U!"   :'(  I have no interest in new game+ runs in rpgs/srpgs so not too happy DS2 seems craaaazy faq friendly.  Still an enjoyable story, but I feel like I'm going to miss a lot this first run.  DS1 wasn't bad with the branching since it only really affected the final day and most of the paths were solid, so it didn't matter which you ended up on.  DS2's branching affects every single day I'm guessing, not counting the first day.

I dunno, I don't find either game hard.  But then I do every optional "free battle" once and fuse a lot and buy a lot from the auction so I'm always high level with high level demons.

I don't usually repeat them.  Everytime a new one shows up I do it since the fighting is fun and I want to see if there's any new skills to crack.  If I am totally stuck I'll grind one for a bit, but I can't remember that happening in either game other than at the first boss or two.

How early are you?  The game, like every SMT game, gets easier once you get about 40% in and start getting access to good spells so you can make badass parties ready for anything.

Gave Ninja Gaiden 2 another shot and it paid off. The combat is so much better than the first, and the gibs that fly out of guys while you Izuna Drop them never gets old. NGB is still the better game, but I'm not sure I can go back to it after messing around with the lv. 3 dragon sword combos in 2.

Making my way through Mega Man Legends as well. I'm having fun, but I can't wait to get to the second game. The lack of a proper lock-on is :yuck

Still playing Futari God mode, my consistency is starting to improve a lot. Now I usually don't have to restart stage 1 ten times before I pass it without a death/bomb, and I'm starting to do well on stage most of the time, as well. Stage 3 is where everything goes to hell. I always die AT LEAST two times on that fucking stage. Pisses me off so much. The mid-boss in particular is complete bullshit. I really fucking doubt that anyone can dodge his first two patterns with any consistency at all. His bullets move like lightning and there are two patterns crossing into each other, so you can't see shit.

But anyway, at least I finally cracked 2 billion. I went from 1.993b to 2.068b today. Yay. If I can actually make up to Larsa, I think I'll be able to hit 2.75-3 billion, which will be nice. I don't think I'll try to push further than that, unless I learn some new tricks along the way.

not sure how well it aged, but back in the day it easily rivaled games like Mario 64 and BK.
