why none of you guys use the spear :'(

anyway, here's an easy way to quantify the number of negative fuck given by the people who made qoga, see this video?

see how it says "part 150"?

that's the first boss in the game, and it comes as you end chapter 3 of the game...

...out of 4

Just about to start the six star quests. I've been stalling for a while to try out the different weapons, farm some items, forge armor, etc. I think I'm going to settle on Long Sword > Hammer > Dual Swords.

Just started rank three quests myself. Was going grind for Arzuros armor set but I'm fighting the Wyvern so I'll save my grinding for that monsters set.

Got a level three long sword now. Feels good baby.

This may sound stupid but my only problem with MH3U is that isn't in an interconnected world. Dislike how moba forest is the only thing with a real sense of cohesion to the world. The other places feel like levels rather than actual locations. Don't like that. It already feels FF12ish in its exploration so I wish it went further.

Spear is good! My weapon picks are long sword > hunting horn > spear > dual blades

tomb raider hit that "sure, why not?" price so i'm messnig around with that.  it's pretty cool.  the hair efx and tessellation cripple my machine in 1080p.  it may be time to look at a new card especially as we have a new console gen coming up

isn't this just 'cause the hair stuff is basically an AMD exclusive feature? Trying to run it on an NVidia card of any type is a recipe for disaster I hear. (or it may be the other way 'around)

It's a big hit no matter what card you have, though right after launch Nvidia card took a bigger hit, which was rectified with a patch shortly thereafter. There's some Anandtech benchmark that shows that Nvidia's 6xx series has worse compute performance than their 5xx series, which makes up for whatever other discrepancies remain, because TressFX is built on (/with/whatever the right preposition is) direct compute.

I don't think it looks all that great and a ponytail doesn't exactly lend itself well to showing off multiple strands of hair flowing dynamically in the wind anyway. Or maybe I'm just telling myself that because I'm still on a 4890, which can't even run it.

i give up on ar tonelico qoga,i tought the game would get better but it just gets worse instead, there are like 4 dungeon in the whole game and everytime the heroes find some excuse to backtrack to them at least twice, sometimes thrice,i'm bamboozled by how bad this is it

and the plot drags on and on and on and half of it consist of "i can't live with you heroine!" "oh i love you main character :uguu" i have happy memories of the first game and decent memories of the second one so how did it end like this i have no idea :fbm

sooooooooooooo.... i want to make a more safe bet this time so next game is going to be ni no kuni, even if it sucks at least it will be pretty... right?

I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but until today I had never beaten The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Having just done so, I think it's safe to say I consider it my favorite Zelda game, a position previously held by the original Legend of Zelda. You probably don't need me to tell any of you how amazing this game is, but what I found particularly wonderful was how much better the later dungeons are. Starting with the Ice Palace on, each dungeon is filled with more traps and tougher enemies, on top of the dungeons themselves getting larger and more convoluted. Ganon's Tower was easily my favorite, combining all the most challenging aspects of previous dungeons (ice floors, treadmills, spikes and helmasaurs chasing you!? >:().

The game does a great job of blending the discovery and exploration of the original game but adds a little more depth to the world that helped coax me along to the end. All the hidden secrets in Hyrule were a pleasure to find and I haven't come close to 100%ing it; I'll probably peck at it over the next few days. It would be so great if Nintendo could replicate this game's approach to hint-giving with the sequel, and by that I mean not giving any hints whatsoever. It was cool figuring stuff out (the warp, some key items like the ice rod are in hidden locations), rather than being led by the nose to the solution. Between this game and Super Metroid, Nintendo nailed the character/player progression. Not only is Link decked out with gear by the end, but I also became much better at using the different items in tandem. It was weird to adjust to the way this game's bottles are actually used. Like, I had to buy potions. You never do that in a 3D Zelda game. But in this game you practically need it. Dat final battle with Ganon :bow2

Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how Nintendo handles the sequel, though I doubt it'll live up to this game. Now to move on to another Super Nintendo classic I've neglected over the years. Chrono Trigger...

I am playing From Dust. It is scratching an "incompetent god" itch that I'd not known I'd had.

The game has reached a stage where fires and floods keep at my tribes Men so often, and BANG, they're gone. I've not yet lost a stage, but I've unfortunately sent Men to their doom repeatedly, now that there have been some goals which require timing.

There's something about the camera, though, which bothers me a little. it's frustrating to not be able to dump the Breath's volume in a spot with better accuracy. It's also strange that the top-down view is almost useless. I would have preferred a few additional choices in orientation and zoom, but I guess they wanted to keep it simple and not frustrate people with a lot of optional camera management.

Anyway, I like it.

Yeah, the camera and a lack of precision can make it very fiddly. I ended up playing with a controller because the mouse controls didn't help much. The latter missions will get really hairy. You'll end up dropping sand in a mad panic. Fun game though.

Started Neverwinter. Looks interesting enough so far, I guess? Rolling attributes wasn't really necessary though. You can't even bank rolls, tsk tsk.

ni no kuni

mmm i can see this being good but the pacing of the game is troublesome and annoys me a little, the first hour and half of the game is basicaly cutscenes and tutorial and you can be sure if a game with a smaller pedigree did that it wouldn't have got a 9 on ign,it also takes like another 2-2.5 hours before you get to catch any mons and the game still to seems to be hiding some other system from me (alchemy? monster fusion? heck is there monster fusion in this game? i've been accepting any mon that want to come with me and training them to at least level 10 but i'm not sure that's a good idea)

the boss battles are fun since every one of them seems to have a gimmick but the mon system seems really half-assed,i feel like i have no reason to use any monster other than the mite

the presentation is amazing, nintendo fans would kill to have a zelda game that looks this good (and then probably complain about it until the next zelda comes :teehee) the fact that the wizard book is actualy a thing you can read and that is filled with just a bunch of useless info really show the attention to details

and mmm.... i don't have anything else to say, usualy this would be the part where i talk about the actual plot and characters and things like that but it's all so standard fantasy game there is really nothing to say,oh yeah drippy, reading his text always makes my head hurt :lawd

got the ship,i wanted to clear some sidequest but some of them are a pain in the ass,one sidequest require me to kill 3 of a certain monsters using an ice spell but the monster is somewhat rare and everytime i find him he runs away from me (because i'm way stronger than it,not because it's a metal slime sort of enemy) there is another that requires me to recruit 2 certain mon but one of the mon i need just don't want to get in my party no matter how many times i kick his ass

i can do alchemy now,and one nice things is that if you browse the wizard book you can find a lot of recipe's,yay for sparing me a trip to gamefaqs while being clever! one another clever thing about the wizard book is that full of random short stories, they are nice to read too,the fact that the whole things is peppered in illustration that wouldn't look out of a place in a D&D manual really gives it a lot of charm

the bosses are pretty cool too, before you can do alchemy you have to defeat a genie inside the pot,his main move consist of digging trough the pot and getting a flaming sword but sometimes he fucks up and pulls a parasol instead losing a few turns in shock :lol

Yes, VC is a very time consuming game. Every action has to be played out manually, reloading saves takes like 30 seconds, etc. Especially on those levels with annoying giant enemy bosses.

VC is one of the most satisfying gaming experiences ever. It's got the whole package: great story, stunning visuals, gorgeous soundtrack, challenging innovative gameplay... I love it so much. The sequel is also good but a little different. Definitely a more "handheld" experience. It improves and elaborates on a lot of the gameplay ideas but suffers from limitations of the PSP, that being smaller maps and a more quick burst gameplay/mission structure.

the fairy godmother dungeon is just so..... :heart like someone condensed every kitten and puppy video on the internet in a videogame
[close]

what else... i fought a pretty annoying boss who was immune to physical attack (forcing me to not rely on mite once in a blue moon) and more boring plot stuff happened,at the end of the day i got a spell that let me warp anywhere (FINALY!) a casino opened up
spoiler (click to show/hide)
(the casino is in a graveyard and populated by dapper-dressed skeletons,it's like a missing scene from grim fandango! :lol

though to my disappointment there is a game called platoon that is very easy to abuse,i won a single game of that and got enough tokens to buy all the current prize and still had enough for future stuff) and there is also a battle arena (which i still haven't dabbled on) basicaly i'm having a blast

another nice details on the wizard compendium (that things is gold,GOOOOOOOOOLD) there is a made-up language that consist of japanese like scribbles and you get a table to translate it manualy, one of the page has a wizard with something scribbled near him,if you translate it,it reads "I SMELL" :lol

Yeah I like both VC, VC2, and what little of VC3 I've played. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I think I'd come down in favor of VC in the end, as it has more tricky strategies you can do with the engine and more creative missions.

VC challenge runs can get interesting if you like that kind of thing. It's not as difficult as some other tactics games I've played but the hybrid FPS gameplay can't be found elsewhere.

Hoping for VC3 English patch this year.

I think I'm actually near the end now. The gameplay is shallow but the atmosphere kept me coming back. Not going to buy 2 or Infinite now.

It's weird how more or less every mechanic from System Shock 2 is in the game (which I've beat years ago) is in the game but everything is so streamlined and simplified that they could have made it just a straight shooter.

Not to keep blahing on about Valkyria Chronicles, but I just started a challenge run - no level/upgrade, all kills, no damage taken. I end up not getting A ranks some of the time, though. Youtube playlist here.. up to Ch 6. The ex-hard skirmishes are from another run back in 2009.

solved a bunch of quest (including those super annoying one where you have to recruit certain monsters) got the spell that opens the purple chest and opened every purple chest i could think off and got to the point where they make magic flute, how long until the end of the game?

since there are no missable achievements and it's such a good game i'll probably plat it,i know there is a super annoying achievement that is about catching 200 mons, but i've already got 80 of thems and have plenty of them to evolve so i can see it as doable

X-COM: still loving it. Can't wait to beat it and start on the harder difficulty. I went in completely blind and made various fuck ups in terms of preparing my base; I didn't know how important satellites were until I lost a couple countries. Alls good now and I'm kicking ass

SC2 HOTS: definitely better than WoL. It forces you to multitask and raises the skill level, although I would still prefer more units that were in line with Brood War micro. And fuck the Swarm Host, bring the Lurker back yo

On Blu-ray:
• Afrika
• Aquanaut's Holiday
• Folklore (depending on your definition of a RPG)
• Gran Turismo 5
• Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
• Siren: Blood Curse

From the PSN:
• Dark Mist
• Malicious
• PixelJunk Racers, Monsters, Eden, Shooter etc.
• Trash Panic
• Tokyo Jungle

I haven't played Siren yet, but it was like €5 from the recent (still ongoing?) PSN sale.
