yeah she played that little Slender Man game which is an Amnesia knock off and really liked it, so we decided to play Amnesia together and get real fucking scared. I only got a couple of hours in by myself, I was too frightened to keep playing   :fbm

so any ps3 exclusive that is...

1) japanese
2) not a jrpg

i'm thinking of 3d dot heroes after ni no kuni but what else there is...?
On Blu-ray:
• Afrika
• Aquanaut's Holiday
• Folklore (depending on your definition of a RPG)
• Gran Turismo 5
• Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
• Siren: Blood Curse

From the PSN:
• Dark Mist
• Malicious
• PixelJunk Racers, Monsters, Eden, Shooter etc.
• Trash Panic
• Tokyo Jungle

I haven't played Siren yet, but it was like €5 from the recent (still ongoing?) PSN sale.

maybe i'll try guacamelee, when i said "japanese only" it was more of a "suggest me an exclusive but be damned if you mention uncharted or resistance" than anything else... was ratchet & clank any good? i loved them on ps2

I loved the first one, Tools of Destruction, but that was probably because it was my first Ratchet game. The other two got good impressions from everyone else even though they felt a bit samey to me. Many people consider A Crack in Time to be the best game in the series. I thought it was good, but nothing special. If you're up for any good exclusive regardless of origin you should also try inFamous and Wipeout.

OG Siren > Blood Curse. BC isn't bad at all but it's too actiony and I simply prefer the originals gameplay.

Crack In Time owns.

got to the final boss in ni no kuni but instead of defeating him,i went and did all the achievement chore's i could,i got up to 120 monsters recruited and i've made ALMOST all of the recipe i could do,alchemy in this game blows ball, most of the item you can do are weak, lame and requires very specific drop from very specific monster

eh i just find it easier to do stuff in the proper order,i still have to get X magical stones even if i beat the game so might as well do it now

besides i found 2-3 of those metal slime like enemies and i've jumped like 20 levels of what i was supposed to be,right now i'm like level 60 :teehee

The GoT game isn't that bad, demi. It's just book/showfags that acted like it was the worst thing ever. The gameplay is generic as hell but the story and setting is legit.

I just got to the end credits of Super Hexagon. I don't commonly liken other games to Tetris, but this one is such a perfect fit for its platform the way Tetris was for the GB, I can't help myself. Game should just come pre-installed on every iOS device.

the final boss of ni no kuni is causing me so much rage and really really shows how stupid your party member are (eg,you tell them to defend and they don't do it,they flat out refuse to use consumable, sometimes they just seem to stand somewhere dumbfunded) really tempted to switch the game to easy since i don't give a fuck about beating this properly anyway :maf

fuck it, i'm on a RE kick.  almost done with Leon in RE2, then Claire, while playing RE: DS concurrently, and moving on to CVX if I'm still feeling it.

I also have an itch to play Another World, Flashback, and, barely related but similar, Blackthorne.   maybe PoP1 remake, but I've always gotten bored of that cause it doesn't have laser guns or shot guns or alien buddies.

i did spam astra, somehow the boss find a way to kill me as i'm charging/using MP items... i guess i'm partly to blame for leaving my party dead but seriously it's pointless to resurrect them since they become dead again like 5 seconds later,it's like trying to herd a bunch of suicidal sheep's... anyway i tried again on normal but died once again,i could've leveled up a bit but frankly i got tired of it and switched to easy,i'm not even sure i still want to plat this

From Dust has got its hooks in me pretty deeply; thought I'd play a little bit, at 12:00 I thought "just a little more before bed," and now it's 02:13AM.

The tribe dudes are pretty dumb. Previously, I felt bad whenever any of them died due to a mistake in my planning. Today, I was taking the third or fourth attempt at a difficult map, and I'd finally got 3/4 Totems, just needed the little nancies to get over to the last one, which had a clear path to it as far as I could tell. They'd go some other weird way, they'd bitch about having a wall in front of them, they'd refuse to re-path to find a better way, even as the landscape was changed around them.

It led me to wonder if God ever feels this way about us.

And if he does, maybe does he sometimes dump lava on us? Because that's what I'm doing.

anyway some proper impression,it was a good game but somehow i feel like the amazing production value's have plus the fact that i think this is the first "proper" rpg i've played in a while, blinded me on all the bad aspect of the games...

1) the game drags,a lot, there isn't a single thing that gets done without running a fetch quest or doing some chore, this is especialy bad at the start of the game where it takes 1 hour and half of dickering around before you get to the first proper dungeon of the game, worse yet is when you have to cross over to the real world to help someone so that they stop being a jerk in the fantasy world... but my favourite one is when oliver gets 3 magic mcguffin to power up his magic wand but the mcguffin's don't fit the wand so he has to run ANOTHER fetch quest

2) the plot is generic fantasy fluff, there is a bad guy, oliver goes to kill him and then everyone is happy,yaaaaaaaaay...
spoiler (click to show/hide)
oh and of course the bad guy wasn't really bad,it was just misguided by society and hatred and desperation and all the other bad things that makes things bad in jrpg... also the game should have ended after you kill shadar, the game totaly blows his load early and then ask you to shake his flaccid dick for no other apparent reason than they sort of forgot the game subtitle was called "wrath of the white witch"
[close]
the way it's presented kinda reminds me of zelda,in fact one of the boss you fight is suspiciously similiar to zelda darknut,i think some zelda fans might dig this

3) the game tries to be this weird mix of turn based and action in that a lot of action have charge time (like in a turn based game) and stuff but you can still dodge and block attack (like in an action game) this combination doesn't work bad as long as you are alone but as soon as you get other party member it becomes incredibly frustating as your party member have no idea how to block, dodge or use any sort of consumable, there is a button that tell your whole party to defend but there is a delay between the command and the execution of it and i've lost count of how many times i've told my party to defend only to see them still getting hit in the face,it gets to the point where actualy playing solo and dodging and blocking attack on your own while ignoring your party member is easier than defeating the boss by working as a party

4) there is no real system to it,your character level up and gets new moves but most of them are useless, there is no real satisfaction behind it,when the mon gets to a certain level (around 15 first time and around 3X second time) they get to evolve but since they get back to level 1 you don't really notice them getting stronger, there is a rock-paper-scissor but it feels like it rarely makes a difference, the game really fucks up as far as a mon game goes

so sure,it has towns, these towns all have their own theme and have treasure chest hidden in them, there are a shitload of dungeons and bosses, there are sidequests which all come with their own nice rewards, there are the obligatory ice and fire dungeons and all of this is done with an amazing presentation so it really feels like a proper solid rpg,but when you think about it more deeper and compare it with other games it just sort of falls short....

tales of vesperia is a better game,it's pretty sad that the best jrpg of the gen is on 360

Been cruising through Tomb Raider and really loving it. Got to the point where you end up in the starting forest for the 2nd time. Decided to hop around and get some collectibles. Went back to the forest to try and continue the story, but it seemed to glitch back to how it was in the very beginning and now I can't continue. Fuck

gotta mod the fudge out of it or else it's too much like Fallout 3 for my tastes.  I know the writing is different, "hardcore" mode, etc., but even then, vanilla NV is just so-so.

the writing is still shitty videogame writing. i dunno why people always bring it up like it matters. have you ever played a game where people talked and it sucked because the dialog was unnatural and the actors were disinterested? then you know what to expect from new vegas, fallout 3, and every other fucking game ever created.

Dialogue and va aren't the only ways to have a good story. The basic pretense of your argument is that game stories are always trash. Silent Hill 2 despite having average va and okay dialogue still contains one of the best written horror stories I've ever came across in any medium. The dialogue is fine for a horror story. Compared to its film peers I'm not seeing any major difference.

tho good VA in the last couple years is about on par with tv shows, so thats good

if games with shit VA and dialog can be put in the good story box I nominate MGS2 for it's fantastic scenario design. Doesn't matter the VA and dialog totally ruin it - there is good writing/story/narrative in there somewhere! Promise!

Silent Hill 2 does not have terrible va or dialogue. Resident Evil 1 has awful va and dialogue. Silent Hill 2's isn't great but works. The dialogue doesn't need to be better than what it is now because it conveys all necessary information and is on par with movies like Dawn of the Dead anyways.
