The Guided Fate Paradoxmuch better than disgaea d2 since the plot is actualy interessing and not a total cookie cutter boring one! the plot follow an average boring student called renya, one day he wins a raffle and it turns out that what he won was nothing less than godhood so now as god he's forced to execute the wish of the people,i tought this would be a boring premise but each wish make's for pretty silly and interessing scenario...
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the first one for example is about cinderella who's sick of repeating the same tale over and over and over so she wish for an alternate ending to the tale, the second is about a wussy zombie who doesn't have the courage to attack people
it's really good
the cast is pretty big too and a lot of the character feature shady motive's under their cheerfull premise which it's such a huge improvement over disgaea 4 and their "i have a single gimmick which i'm going to repeat ad nauseum" thin paper personality
the actual game is not much of a stretch from ZHP,for those that haven't played ZHP this is a roguelike but the catch is that everytime you reset to level 1 your level get stored and everytime you store certain amount of level your base stat get bigger so you always start at level 1 but after doing 100 level your level 1 character will start as strong as a level 10 character for example... there is also another sub system where you can tweak your stat by placing panels and items on a board which get bigger and bigger as you store more level
Difference's with ZHP and general gameplay stuffas for difference with ZHP,panel are now gotten by bursting items, what this mean is that as you use an item, the item improve until it reach 100% then after it reach 100% it burst and suddenly degrade's to half it's power, after this happen you get a panel and the weapon has to be repaired by going back to town (but after repairing,it get stronger)
you are also now followed by an AI companion,he does allright, you can give it order and if it die nothing bad happen, heck in fact the AI doesn't even follow you in boss fight so it's never a bother
the boss fight are pretty good too,all of them have some gimmick which you have to abuse to win... in the zombie scenario, you are attacked by a bunch of zombie and you can't attack the boss until you defeat all of the smaller one,but the zombie resurrect after a while and the only way to stop them from doing so is to cover them with grave's,the boss itself also tells you where he's going to attack so you can dodge his attack and attract minor enemies so they get damaged instead
also now every piece of equipment has a skill in it instead of just some of them,oh and if you equip the same weapon twice you get a new special skill which is usualy pretty powerfull and well worth the effort of tracking two equal weapon
enemies now have weakness so having the right piece of equipment with the right special attack helps a lot, they also have a lot of different skills for example there is a turtle with a pretty powerfull area attack which completly ruins your shit if you are surrounded or paralyzed but otherwise can be easily avoided simply by walking out of range, there are shield enemies that stop you from hitting enemies with special skill and force you to use your puny normal attack and so on
oh and they finaly put a way to keep your equipment safe from the harsh reality of perma-death,you give your equipment to this NPC and he gives you the ability to call it at any moment you want, the catch is that you can only do so a limited number of times so you can't do the whole dungeon with it
the difficulty is ok... i got through the first two dungeon with no problem but i actualy hit a wall on the third one and had to grind for a while and re-think my equipment choice a little
tl;dr - i'm enjoying a NIS game again after the lukewarm disgaea 4 and disgaea d2
