Gravity Rush was too easy of a game, didn't have any real controller issues. Only thing that was trouble was the skidding side quests. First plat I finished

Any tips for beating the dragon in chapter 9? I can't seem to hit their heads with my air-kick.

Honestly don't even remember the fight.

But youtube it I guess

Axiom Verge, got to the part where you get the
spoiler (click to show/hide)
trenchcoat to allow for multi-direction teleport
[close]
and saw some plot twist esque scenes. Now just revealing s'more of the map, I think I have an idea of where to go next. Unfortunately, after a big chunk of revealing map, I went into a new area and the game crashed on me and I lost about 40 min of progress :-\

Gonna try and get to the end guy, then use a guide to get 100% of the map/items/weapons/etc.

Losing progress in metroidvanias and open world games has got to be the worst thing. You barely remember what you did and where you went to do it, but you might know what you got out of it, so have fun trying to retrace those steps.

Been busy so haven't had much time to game lately.  Getting back into though.

Batman Arkham Origins - For the shitty game, I'm really enjoying this.  Tightly paced, fast travel points, story is enjoyable and writing is batman-y; looks nice too and I like how Batman is a psychopath beating the shit out of everyone in this one lol.  Waiting for it to get bad.  About halfway through the story I think.

Super Robot Wars Z3-2 - about 60 hours or so into this and halfway.  Slow pick up but pretty nice conclusion to the 9 year franchise at this point.

GTAV - Held off on playing it on PS3 for the next-gen version, held off on PS4 for the PC version, now finally playing it and it's pretty cool.  First person mode is fantastic for shootouts.  Absolutely love aiming in first person; adds a lot of intensity and immersion.  For driving still prefer 3rd person but 1st person is neat.  Main character still control's like a fucking tank and car's still feel weird.  I don't get why Rockstar can never get this right compared to other 3rd person action games.  I guess because they want it to feel "realistic" instead of a "videogame"; but videogames control much better than real life!

One Piece Musou 3 - I really like this but it's a real slow progression to unlock characters as it follows the almost 20 year One Piece manga story nice and fleshed out one arc per stage at a time.  Which I appreciate, but there's a lot of arcs and I just wanna get the more recent characters and attacks ^^;

Well, I was only super busy last week and a half (studying 100 hours or so for the Broker License exam).  Started playing Z3-2 on April 1st and probably put 30-40 hours in the first week.  Then when studying would use SRW maps as breaks.  Study 2-3 hours, play a map, study 2-3 hours, play a map.  So still making progress.

I'm on stage 20/20/20 in the 3-way split around that point.  Finished Rengoku (15 maps), something like 8 DLC maps so far, and done 34 stages in the main game w/branching.  So around ~58 maps so far and probably about that many remaining.

Up to right before the final battle in both Terranigma and Axiom Verge. Unfortunately, even after combing over all of SirTapTap's maps, seems I'm missing 1% item completion (a health power up)... so I dunno what to do. Posted in the NeoGAF thread about it.

Anyways, Axiom Verge is an awesome take on Metroid. It subverts a few of your expectations of the genre, has a lot of world to explore, a decent challenge level where you will die if you're not careful, and gives you lots of cool powerups... not to mention, having that sense of mystery so lacking in modern gaming. Only problems would be - simplistic boss patterns, annoying sound effects, and the occasional twitchy controls.

Oddly, I find myself getting into Defiance more and more. I’m happy enough with the game, but with each unintentionally obscured gameplay element I finally puzzle out, new ones appear. It feels like there’s a lot of complexity added to the game just for player retention. More things to grind and get a 0.05% increase in a stat which needs alteration in the 5% range. It’s not really worth tweaking. Recently a new core attribute-altering equipment, Cyber-Rigs, were introduced -- further muddying my interaction with the game’s guts.

Still, it’s fun. Not quite sure why.

Axiom Verge.  one of the better indie metroid games out there.  like tiesto said about subverting the genre, at times it feels like metroid for people who know metroid.  enemies and bosses soaking up damage is the one annoying part, to where I thought I selected hard mode by accident until I reached the stats at the end.  it didn't make the game difficult.  it made fighting enemies and bosses overly long, with or without glitching.

Killzone Mercenary (on vita tv).  there's something to this game really held back by the system's power.  they applied a lot of call of duty multiplayer progression into the single player.  and the missions themselves are open ended to support stealth, ranged, etc. play styles.  I enjoyed it despite the claustrophobic fov, rough frame rate, and small cramped environments.  but also when my vita tv crashed and erased some progress, I was fine leaving it at that.

Hit me up if you do. I saw Stoney boot this up in the last couple weeks; I would have dropped in on him as well, but I was just shutting everything down when he was logging in.  :'(

I'm only on the 360 for one more week, then I'm traveling for a month and won't have access to a home console.

I thought about buying the Season Pass, but have not made time to read up on what it'll get me. There are boosts to various currencies (Scrip, Arkforge, XP, etc.) which I suspect need to be charged, even if you buy in at a high level. "Please pay to un-nerf your acquisitions!" - yeah, I hate that. I love World of Tanks as well, but that's an aspect of the game I dislike.

Elite: Dangerous. Yeah it's p boring, i am special fellow enought to find it captivating though and there's a fair amount of high adrenaline moments. Still on the inintial grind atm which is definitely starting to drag, mostly because i took a while to get my head around wtf i should be doing to make cash - primarily my fault due to being stubborn and figuring things out through trial and error. So im still doing the same shit, just focussing more on bounties now w a more effective loadout, honing my dogfighting skillz til i can afford a decent trader.

Beat Axiom Verge (100% items/100% map) and Terranigma. Played some other games in the meanwhile:

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - cleared the first 2 worlds. Pretty fun game, cute graphic style. Definitely recommended if you liked Canvas Curse on DS.
Castle of Illusion - made it to the last level, but ran out of continues. Kept on fucking up on one area of the game (the one with pink dolphins... fucking dolphins  :punch)
Mario Kart 8 - just trying to 3-star all the courses single-player. Usually get 3 out of 4 courses in first and then fuck up in one single course. May need to call on my gf to help me.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - still can't beat the Endless Mummy Maze... made it to floor 15. Damn, was hoping to beat this game.
Thunder Force 3 - only played the first 2 levels but seems like another great, fast-paced Genesis shooter.

boo this man

controls are workable; just turn your character towards a space between two enemies or between an enemy and wall wall, then hold up. but really after the opening you should be killing most of the enemies anyway bc there's enough ammo to do it.

I need to get back to Xenoverse.  Fun game.

I haven't really been playing too much of MKX.  Not as much as I thought I would...just a bit every night.  The game is fun but I have a feeling I'm going to drop it completely once USF4 comes out for PS4 towards the end of May.  But maybe it's too early to be saying that.

Been mostly playing Senran Kagura Estival Versus, switching back and forth between the PS4 and Vita versions.  Finished the main story mode last night, which took a bit over 16 hours.  Still have to play through all the individual character stories, then it's onto One Piece Kaizoku Musou 3.

If you're using a 360 game pad, RT+B is for climbing down quickly and safely. While RT+A is for climbing up. This takes a while to get used to but makes it so you can navigate building exteriors quickly.

To run through crowds as fast as you can just hold RT. Your momentum is more realistic now when running and fighting so running into people and changing direction will noticeably decelerate you. You also have a much smaller window for counterattacks as a result of the lower movement speed. It makes everything feel more tense and less like you're character is on-rails.

Jesus, GTAV at 4k looks amazing.  I love 4K down sampled on a 1080p screen, it's like the best anti-aliasing ever.  Just super clean IQ.  Does wonders for GTAV's assets.  Game is pretty fun too but I find it funny how every vehicle from cars to jet skis still controls goofy, as does the main character.  Plus you can fall from pretty high and not take much damage which is fun jumping off roofs in first person.

When oculus/vr works smoothly with this, just standing on an LA rooftop watching traffic go by at night is going to be one of the most mind blowing displacement moments ever, especially for people who don't live in LA.

Also I really want a Shenmue with the city fidelity of GTAV.  And a gameplay comment, I wish the game would show buildings you can enter on th map.  I want to buy some new clothes but I have no idea where the clothes stores you can actual enter and shop at are.

Batman Origins not sure how I feel about the twist,
spoiler (click to show/hide)
why does every single one of these games need to have the Joker as the antagonist
[close]

Otherwise, it's cool.  This game is pretty violent.  If AA and AC were mainstream pg13, this is R Batman.

Forza’s Fast & Furious game was free for a week or so, so I grabbed it. I’m not sure what the goal was -- marketing? It’s a full 1000 Gamerscore, which it hands out like popcorn. Or candy from a piñata. It’s very freakin’ generous.

Went back and re-re-restarted Hydrophobia. I have no idea why. I think I’m going to try to finish it and delete it to clear up space on my beleaguered HDD. I remember when these water effects seemed mind-blowing. Now it feels uber-meh, and the platforming is still Tomb-Raider-Legend-esque.

It's good, but also disappointing. Traversing the city and combat both feel great. Unfortunately it's very repetitive and there isn't enough varied content. The different superpowers aren't distinct and the plot is mediocre.

I had fun with it, but you can tell that it's a near-launch game. I have the same opinion of Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and The Order: 1886. They're all exclusives worth playing.

Aria of Sorrow is still god tier gaming. Probably will start up Circle of The Moon next.

circle of the moon is not god tier gaming

I remember liking Circle of The Moon quite a bit but that was like, fuck, 12 years ago?

Beat HM2, that last level is pretty out there.

Need to read up on the story now.

Not as good as 1 imho, but still a cool game in its own right. Bigger levels is bigger problems

the level design is extra bland.. there's no reason for it to be an interconnected map bc there aren't that many places where it links up, and the places where you need to backtrack to are very arbitrary.

the combat is fun enough, altho the random drop cards suck, but traversing it is a chore.
