Just rented Arkham Asylum.  Found out they gave me the PS3 disk, going back there now.  I am unimpressed so far.

Just started it.  I think this'll be a good game but I noticed that when you look at the proportions of batman's thighs and his bulge, you realize he can't have any nuts and that kind of bothers me.  OTOH, the joker's face is super detailed.

YAY! PS3! (or are you just copying the ROM to the 360's HDD for reasons of personal preference, instead of necessity?)

That armor is so hard to get. I can't jump on the ledge of the building, Niko keeps jumping over. Wtf was R* thinking, how about just put it in an alley?

Yeah, it took me about 5 intensely annoying tries, and then I found an angle that didn't result in massive damage from falling. There is also the other suggestion I made, which is to mark a location for Armor on your map, and just insta-cab (trip skip) to it whenever you need it.

Okay, the beginning of the game is nothing like the demo.  It's way better.  The also throws a lot of achievements at you it seems.

Yeah I got the PS3 version.  I have a few various legit reasons to play the inferior version, but instead of listing them I'll just post random emoticons  :cop :pirate :ninja :tophat :mrt

Overlord II really picks up once you get into it, start upgrading shit and seeing your tower improve.  I need more mistresses though, this country lass just isn't cutting the mustard.

Was the first game just as good?  I like the demo but never got around to buying.

I beat Ryu ga Gotoku 3 yesterday. It ended up being a great game aside from the horrible fetch quests focusing on the orphans.

Probably going to a take a gaming hiatus until Gundam 0081 comes out next week. Should have my copy by Saturday the 5th.

Finally got around to finishing Tales of Monkey Island ep1; was mildly enjoyable like all the Telltale episodic games outside the few Sam & Max eps that were actually great.

I think I've figured out why all these Telltale games are stuck in C+/B- land of amusing but not very enthralling and you kinda get bored at times:  It's their adherence to the same non-linear design for all their games.  They think non-linear is the future of gaming or something, so every ep they give you 3 quests to do and you can do them in any order, then the plot moves and then usually it's another 3 quests in any order.  The problem is that, each quest portion is about 40% of the episode or more and the plot is STUCK at a standstill until you finish all three.

Normally good adventure games work by keeping you on the edge of your seat as the plot continually moves forward as you solve puzzles and progress.  But in the telltale games there's a bit of plot and then it just STOPS and you do little mini-episodic quests for hours and then the plot finally starts up again and then you're back to mini-quests and then the plot finishes.  It's just not a very satisfying progression.  It's STOP-START-STOP-START, vs. awesome adventure games like Beneath a Steel Sky where it's START GO GO GO FINISH.

It's a shame because I think they're good games with good art, fine puzzles, sometimes good writing and good music; it's just they aren't very exciting.  If they could just fix the pacing they could make some great adventure games, but as long as they stick to the same old 3 quests non-linear format that's not going to happen.  Note I haven't played Wallace yet, so maybe they switch it up there but I'm not counting on it.

I have about 15 hours put into Final Fantasy Dissidia now. I finished the ten odysseys of all the characters and now I'm doing the Shade Impulse mode that unlocks after doing all ten. It's starting to actually be a challenge now. I still love it though!

Seiken Densetsu 3 sucks, I will never finish this crapfest. The menus are laggy, half the mechanics are broken, and you can pretty much button-mash your way through the game from start to finish. The music is great and I like the idea of class progression, but my GOD is it boring.

Time to bathe in the nostalgic goodness of Secret of Evermore.

Actually, I'm torn between Evermore and Terranigma, mostly because I've never played Terranigma. What do you nerds think?

Terranigma, deffo. Too much grinding in Evermore, and I hated the alchemy system. The music was really good and very original for the time - ambient, tribal, and Philip Glass-style minimalism.

We've already established that I'm a weeaboo and I don't care  :-*

Evermore also features game breaking bugs and was painfully incomplete. The game had some nice ideas but failed to deliver. SOM was better but FFA is probably the best out of all the Mana games.

The cutscenes in the trailer look really good
...the gameplay looks awful.  I don't get how they still haven't figured out how to do 30fps.  It's not like the game is pushing a lot of graphics :\

The gameplay doesn't look great, but it has to be an improvement from Target in Sight. Dengeki's review mentioned improved controls, but I'm still expecting your run of the mill crappy Gundam game.

However, it appears to have rail shooter sections similar to Encounters in Space. Those were badass.

I decided on Terranigma, sorry demi. I forgot about constantly needing reagents for alchemy, that was the deal-breaker for me.

I can't comment on the entire soundtrack (obviously), but the first song I heard in the starting town was really ethereal and unobtrusive. It was pretty nice.
