What happened to Sony?
Smaller form factor means smaller battery.  Same thing happened with the iPhone.  The 2g version has a slightly bigger battery.  When the 3g came out the form factor was slimmed and a smaller battery was used since the 2g batteries would have not fit in the device.

That is what is making me hold off on buying a new PSP.  I am pretty opposed to the GO but I am going to hold off just in case.  :-\

What happened to Sony?

They bought Columbia Pictures. Hardware was no longer their only concern :/
Narrowing the answer down to the GO: I'd imagine their inclusion of Bluetooth and upping the processor speed has a lot to do with it
