this thread got really bad fast, so I'll just try and answer the op.
I don't know, I just don't understand what it's doing different than any other third person shooters out there.
If different was barometer for quality, well, it isn't. It just looks like it will be a really good third person shooter from what they've shown.
In fact, I think it's pretty disappointing that it doesn't really delve into exploration and focuses so much on shooting.
I'm not ready to believe that they won't have platforming, exploration and puzzles throughout. What was shown is what shows well, which would be the combat. Just from the beta I can tell that there is more mixing of platforming and shooting at least, so that is certainly welcomed.
I just don't really understand how this is lapping up so much praise. I think The PS3 had much better looking games at E3.
People really like third person shooters. There is that one picture for Gears 2 with the guy saying "The only bad thing about Gears 2 is that it's too good."
Personally, I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2. The first game is great and just from my experience in the multiplayer beta I know the combat is much better than it was before. It's not the game I'm most excited about later this year, but I will play it, I'll probably enjoy it a lot, I'll play co-op and ignore the versus stuff.
It does help that it looks incredibly good.
