Unfortunately the trailer did not do a good job selling this game so I did not pre-order it.  Now I won't get it because $15 is a lot for an unproven indie game with barely any visual design (this may just be a personal thing but I think the lack of graphics in this case doesn't look stylish, it just makes the game look like 1998 freeware).

Man I was about to buy it just based on the premise of zombies and killing. I'm downloading the demo now so I'll see for myself I guess. $7.50 could buy me uh, a burger or something though.

Steam made me a DD believer :bow

Steam is the only DD that counts.  Console DD is suuuuuper iffy as consoles only last 5-10 years.  At some point you will throw away/sell your PS3/X360/Wii and unless the respective companies transfer over the DD purchases to their next systems (good luck with that), you'll just lose all those DD games you've bought over 5-10 years.  At least with Steam I get the feeling I'll die before it does, so I can just load it on any computer I use for the rest of my life and have full access to my DD game catalogue I've bought over my life.  I kind of fear the steam library of kids growing up today.  I didn't get started on my steam one until I was like 25!  I feel like so much time was lost :X

Plus Steam shows you all the games you own, so you'll always have this growing list on any computer to be like "oh crap, I own that??" and then install and play it.  When you transfer to a new system/hard drive on the current consoles it's like "uhhhh...what games did I own again?"   :-\

I dunno, I kind of like it in a totally mindless violence kind of way. :lol The pistol is like the best weapon though, it's like WTF don't pick up that flame thrower or that .44 Magnum, just let me keep the pistol. The axe is really uhhhhhhhhhh, the Steam Hammer is badass though, it just melts everything, it's the only weapon worth giving up the pistol for.

Another good DD service is GOG, although they only have old games. With GOG you just download a zip file and can install a game as many times as you want on as many computers as you want, and they always give out a bunch of free extras with every games like soundtracks and instruction manuals and so on.

Yeah I like GOG because they are DRM free so even if they are going bust at least you can grab all your games and burn them on a disc or something.

I hope Gamersgate & Impulse never go out of business cause I occasionally get cheap deals from them.  Same with Telltale games cause I've been getting all their episodic series straight from their site.

Before that I bought Osmos for some zone-out gaming, but I didn't really like it, the controls suck.

BTDT took a little warming up to, but it eventually sang. TG, P is way better, but has a lot of refrences to BTDT, so finish that first. SHould only take like 2-3 hours.

I think I'm going to play some Ben There, Dan That this afternoon. Maybe some Tales of Monkey Island.

And I haven't even started Time Gentleman, Please! yet, as Ben There Dan That is still completely fucking awesome.

I tried the demo for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and yeah, the game just doesn't click with me much.  It's ok, but every level seemed the same.  Felt like a $5 game, not a $15 one.  Considering the standard pricing for indie games these days is $10, if you price over $10 it must mean your game is "that" good and I didn't feel it was at all.

How is Ben There, Dan That?

Good times.

Quote
Yes, in an attempt to talk their super-fans down from the ledge, Valve arranged for two of the group's users - Walking_Target and Agent of Chaos - to pop over to Valve headquarters and get some hands-on time with Left 4 Dead 2. See if they could be persuaded to write some nice things about the game.

So, did it work?

Bet your Gabe Newell it worked.

Walking_Target wrote that "things seemed balanced and 'tight' and did not feel like a rushed job", and that "we can say with confidence...that the quality of gameplay in Left 4 Dead 2 is not in question; and it will only get better".

More golden oldies today, MDK 1 & 2 for $8.99 each or $15 for the pair. For some reason I never got around to playing MDK 2 on the Dreamcast, so I'll probably check this out. For the weekend deal, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is 50% off in honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and UT3 and the Unreal Tournament Pack is 60% for the UT3 free weekend.

And apparently we've got Madballs in...Babo: Invasion. Yeah, you're guess is as good as mine, but it's only $7.99 I'm a sucker for these cheap indie shooters. I bought Nation Red, and I'll probably buy this too.

Also, Majesty 2 hit a day early. I pre-ordered it for the bonus Majesty Gold Edition, so I'm downloading it now. I'll probably check it out tomorrow, playing Batman tonight. :rock
